Yesterday I went to check on my cat colony. Unfortunately "Bonita" is still missing and I am now fearing the worst. I am heartbroken over it.

It had been awhile so I thought I'd better check on Traci and the new pup that lives a mile away from the cat colony.

Imagine my horror and anger to find them in the storage barn crying their hearts out. [ See below].

The main shot was taken last month. It was impossible to take pics of Traci & the pup after I freed them, as they had to "relieve" themselves, find a puddle to drink from as they were so thirsty and were running non-stop w/ excitement to see me.

I'm not sure if I can talk the family into letting me take them away and place w/ a dog rescue group but am going to try. This is unacceptable.

Update: March 30, 2013:

I drove by the property where Tracy and their other dog lives today and was shocked to see that the trailer was vacated. No people. No Tracy. They've moved. I wish her well.

Last night, as I was walking home from the bus stop, this little guy and a car collided. I can only hope that Owl felt nothing as by the time I reached it, it's little heart slowed to a stop within a minute.

I carried Owl home, not knowing what to do with it but take it's picture.

I will bury Owl in a quiet spot in my yard.

Anyone is welcome to read this post, or I wouldn't be putting it here. But it's not an advert for my love life. Not actively searching for someone at the moment, and I am writing this for my own reasons and entertainment. But feel free to chime in with comments, if you wish:

Right now my personal life has been rough on me. Have had some bitter, heartbroken crying jags, to be sure. For one thing, after 4 and a half years of separation from Cameron, I am filing for divorce. The paperwork is in process. Luckily, he and I are still friendly, and though we don't share more than brief notes, now and then, we are both agreeable to this difficult change.

In the past year, especially, I have been content and happy and vibrant, due in part to my own efforts to fill my life with what is good. But I can not forget to thank all the wonderful friends, new and old, who have made my journey even better.

Also, a few blokes along the way have taught me more about what I do and do not want in a relationship, when I am ready to have a boyfriend again. And I will be, before too long...

So, I am kicking up my heels, and loving every other aspect of life right now: my artwork, my family and friends, my own interests/hobbies, my strides in good health, doing charity events and having fun in my downtime, with visits to friends, and concerts, etc.

Soooo..to have a bit of fun with it all... what DO I want in a man, when I am officially available?

This is a list of things off the top of my head, some things would be nice, others are a must. Certainly not a full list, at any rate:

1. Have a sense of humor. It helps if you get mine, which can be odd at times.

2. You can be bawdy with me. I am more used to it than some might assume...but I do not like to be openly rude or nasty in public, and if you are, forget it.

3. I'm looking for someone who will value education and wit and have a good appreciation for art.

4. It's great if you know the true worth of good and inspiring music. You certainly don't have to like the same kinds of music that I do, but I have a wide range of interest, and it would be fun to go to some concerts together.

5. Truly listen, and know that I will do the same for you.

6. Have at least some financial stability and live in the same area as me, for a change. :)

7. Buy me flowers, from time to time, without me asking for them. (Don't worry, I'll hint and clue you in on what kinds I like.) I won't expect you to read my mind, and I'm also not afraid to ask for things directly, if you don't get the hint! ;-)

8. If I send you fake mustaches in the mail, please be kind enough to put some on and photograph yourself for me. It's only fair, and I promise I won't use them for blackmail in the future.

9. Take me dancing! (No, I don't know how! I just like it, when I've danced at parties, with guys who do know how. I wouldn't expect you to do it all the time, if it's not your thing.)

10. It's nice to get dressed up to go out on the town, now and then, but I am usually happiest in comfy clothes, in a restaurant that isn't stuffy in any way...heck..hanging out on the couch and watching a good movie with Chinese food sounds fun to me.

11. Not looking for a relationship where we are trying to change one another, but when there is something important that needs attention, please tell me you "can't change" because you are set in your ways. Please. I really REALLY love that. :/

12. Surprise me with something unexpected from time to time. That does not mean a) something that is obviously for you. b) something that is in the category of weird and gross stuff that only men appreciate most. or c) that you've got a wife in Bolivia

13. Take care of yourself, for both you and me....grooming, health, etc. I am by no means perfect, and am still working on my own fitness (and happily seeing results) but it is important. Not just for looks..I want to live a long life. I want you to live a long life.

14. I certainly won't knock back handsome, but heart and soul trumps looks every time. If you got the looks, but you aren't inwardly beautiful ..see ya! If it's the other way around, as far as being a good man, and you aren't a male model, we'll get along famously.

15. Be honest with me..from the start. About the big things, about the little things..not talking white lies. I will accept you fully, for who you are, if you've got your priorities straight. Please don't think you have to invent something to impress me.

16. I think your great Aunt Margie is really hot. (See my first point ^)

17. Be affectionate.

18. Want to know my loved ones, and when we spend time with them I would love to see that you genuinely are having fun, because we are a fun-loving bunch. If I like you well enough to be with you, I will take a natural interest in your folks, too. Family is important to me.

19. Keep going, and work at it, when some of those initial giddy feelings of being "in love" fade. Because passion waxes and wanes, but it can come back 'round and knock you for a loop..in a good way. Steady and true. It works both ways.

20. Don't buy old man jeans, with elastic in the waistband.

21. A man who does some cooking, and household chores on his own initiative? It's only gonna help ya when it comes to sharing the REALLY good aspects of having a girlfriend.

22. I ab allergic to cats. Cats in the housbe are are sorta a deal breaker. I wouldbn't be aball to see you with my eyes gluedt shubt. ACHOO!

23. Dogs are great. I love dogs.

24. Hmmm. I think I'm gonna get a dog, to lure men into my clutches, as we walk in the park. "He's so cute! What's his name?" "Yes, got him from a rescue shelter, last week. His name is Lewis" "Oh, yeah? What's the story behind that name?" "Well, he came with it, but I like to...."

25. You've always been, and will always be, yourself.

Plenty for now. Still, I'm serious about wanting to share all that I have to offer someone, in the near future...we can start out slow. I'm not rushing headlong into any kind of major commitment. I want us to be friends before anything. And, well, heck, I know how to do sexy, and laugh and have fun. Seriously, dude. You don't even KNOW. ;-) We'll have a good time.

Since there are a lot of heartbroken moments in life, we all need some kinds of remedy. For me, being in touch with nature is the best thing. Welcome to my little garden of kitchen herbs; or you may throw some into your cauldron for wicked potions as you wish.

And FYI, coriander is my favourite herb: delicate when growing, but she is a true survivor; nostalgically good smell; easy to use (eventually, with most of my dishes if not all).

Tip: cut the second waves of leaves, which you are going to use, straight away when they appear. This will trigger the plant to grow stronger, otherwise, the plant will just be like some kinds of delicate micro herb, which we do not want.

I wasn't going to get another kitty after Elliot died..I was so heartbroken... But I got this kitty from a girl that really loves her, but is too busy with school and college to spend time with her.. I told her I'd give it a try...

She hid in a closet at first ( totally understandable) ..I left her be and ran some errands.. When I got back home and was sitting on the couch, she jumped up into my lap and kept nuzzling my hand with her head..

She is very loving and sweet.. So far so good! ; ) I'll catch up later..Have a great day!

Now this is something that you don't often see. As I related in my "Dog on Ice" story, I saw a bald eagle swoop down and snatch a prairie dog from the colony on the northwest of the lake at the same time another trekker and I were protecting a small dog. Longmont wisely provided a smorgasbord of prairie dog (the smallest of dogs) treats to lure new eagles to town. The eagle carried his prize prairie dog onto the lake ice almost out of the reach of my longer zoom for his tasty meal. Baldy spent perhaps a half hour on his lunch until he became sluggish and let a crow steal the scraps, not a speck left. When I thought about the size of the prairie dog and the size of the eagle's stomach, I understood why he was so sluggish for another half hour. BRRRRUUPPP. Ice was on McIntosh last January when this was shot and Mac iced up again in the second half of February.

Ice is rapidly melting now that the days are nearing 70 and temps creep above freezing at night. My cousin asked, after examining my recent edits, "Where is winter in my scenes?" I need another good walk at McIntosh Lake now but the trail is a morass of mud. There is no foliage yet but I I suspect a green up might be on us sooner than might be expected.

Our winter has nearly been stolen this winter and global warming gave us the warmest year, world wide, ever on record, including this winter. Today, I watched a heartbroken fellow drive by with a canoe on his roof. Hard water. This is another snap for my "Hard Water Works set.

I don't really have the words to express how heartbroken I am over the tragedy that took the lives of so many of the Humboldt Broncos players & staff......

To be honest, those still aren't resolved, but I do feel much better equipped to deal with the in between. So now that I'm not a heartbroken mess, it brings into stark focus the fact that at this point in my life I am choosing how the rest of it will go. I'm done with my second year of college and things have only gotten more fuzzy. For the past month or so I've really been stuck in the haze of it all... I feel like all the passion has been sucked out of my life. I get excited about things, but I never get... enflamed? Thrilled? Deeply engaged? I don't know. But it's very difficult.

So. Fast forward to this morning. I roll over, grab my laptop, and the first thing on my news feed is that Amy Winehouse is dead - and I think to myself, is this some sort of joke? Someone had to have made a satire. There's no way she didn't make it. There's no way she's not gonna win.

Because, see, I've been a fan of hers for years - since I was sixteen, I think. Unfortunately all that anyone ever heard about her, if they bothered to hear about her at all, were the interesting bits like drug addiction and abusive relationships. Most people missed out on the fact that she was an absolutely beautiful woman inside and out, with a way of putting her thoughts into the most elegantly honest songs. She never stopped being her. She was fighting a battle that millions of other people are, and I desperately wanted her to win.

I was stunned by the news - not surprised, just taken aback. I don't think anyone could be surprised. Then I realized something odd: although I did think it was really a shame that she would no longer do anything more, no albums, no tours, I wasn't really sad. I don't know if there was a way for her to ever be happy here, in this world - something that I also wonder often. Sometimes people are born that just don't fit into the mold. I'd like to believe that wherever she is now, she's happy. Maybe now she has some peace.

There's a song that's been gaining popularity on the radio lately called "If I Die Young," and towards the end of the last verse the singer says, "funny when you're dead how people start listening." I guess that sounds pretty negative, but there's a positive version of it, I promise. I went on a drive after I heard the news to take some pictures and listen to her albums, and the clarity of everything just hit me. It was like someone dropped me in a giant church bell and it was ringing with the sense that it was just fine. So, um, I guess everything is going to be okay. It always seems to be in the end.

Oh, and I'd just like to note that this was the only take of this - I got it on the first shot. And this is SOOC. I don't claim to know much about the supernatural, but it was a funny thing.
