Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

UPDATE:
It is with heavy hearts that we share this update. The lack of improvement in Valor’s neurologic symptoms after a week of aggressive supportive care led us to the decision to humanely end Valor’s suffering before his condition deteriorated further. We learned yesterday afternoon that Valor had tested positive for West Nile virus; we had suspected that this was the cause of his symptoms. Infection with this virus is not always fatal in birds; however, after seven days of intensive supportive care, Valor remained slow to respond to stimuli and displayed no signs of improvement. He had to be force-fed as he showed no appetite and refused to hand-feed or self-feed. Valor was extremely lethargic and had head and body tremors—signs of advancing West Nile disease. Our professional assessment was that it was extremely unlikely that he would recover, even for placement at an educational facility. Subjecting him to further treatment, handling, and captivity and prolonging his suffering would have been inhumane and contrary to our principles as wildlife rehabilitators. A necropsy will be performed at another facility.
In the past five years, we’ve treated 300 Bald Eagles along with over 10,000 other wild birds that have relied on us for care. As professionals, we do our very best for each and every single patient, as we always have and will continue to do, and this includes Valor. We share the deep sorrow you feel for his loss and hope you know that your passion for native wildlife matters. It is so inspiring to see the community rally behind a wild animal in need; thank you to everyone who showed support for Valor and Tri-State. While this outcome was not what we wanted, there are thousands of success stories of animals receiving a second chance at life in the wild at our center and wildlife rehabilitation centers around the world—this is what motivates our staff and volunteers to continue caring for wildlife in need every day. My ex left me in June of '07 so that she could "find herself".
She dyed her hair bright pink..... Didn't find herself there.
Then she styled it as a big mohawk.... Didn't find herself there either.
Then she got her septum pierced........ Once again, no discovery of who she really is.
She left me, yet I'm the one who has to initiate the whole divorce proceeding. I'm the one who has to fill out the paperwork. I'm the one that has to file the paperwork. I'm the one who's paying for the paperwork to get filed. I guess my official title is "Petitioner". The petitioner is the one who initiates the divorce process. Not necessarily the person who wanted to get the divorce in the first place. As is the case in my situation. I loved this woman with all my heart. But now I am the one who has to do every-fucking-thing under the stupid fucking sun in order to get divorced. All the while, she's out partying and having a good old time. Well, I'm fucking sick of it! I can't take much more of this. I try to set up meetings with her so that she can fill out the information that pertains to her (like medical insurance, 401k, etc.) but she blows me off. Seriously, why is it so difficult for her to step up to the plate and just take care of this shit? She's the one who wanted all this.

As if one heartbreak wasn't enough, we lost our beautiful Isis just 10 days after her mate of 11 years, Zenda, died.
We are all beyond devastated as we try to make sense of what has happened. My personal opinion is Isis was terribly heartbroken over the loss of her mate.
The King and Queen are together forever in Heaven. Please keep the zoo keepers, docents and staff in your heart as we try and process our grief.

The Chicago Zoological Society staff is devastated to announce the sudden loss of our female African lion, Isis. Her death comes less than two weeks after the loss of her mate Zenda, Brookfield Zoo’s male African lion, who was euthanized due to age-related issues that impacted his quality of life.
Animal care staff checked on 14-year-old Isis in her outdoor habitat yesterday morning shortly after 9:00 a.m. and all appeared normal. However, upon revisiting the habitat a short time later, she was observed laying on the floor of the moat. Although not witnessed, it appears that Isis fell and was injured. Despite the immediate and intensive treatment provided by the veterinary staff, Isis sustained significant injuries and the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize her today.
The safety and well-being of the animals in our care is our utmost priority. Although it is unclear what caused her fall, we are reviewing all aspects of this tragic occurrence.
Both Isis and Zenda arrived at Brookfield Zoo in May 2008. They could often be seen grooming one another and sleeping together. Isis and Zenda were majestic animals who had a strong bond. The animal care staff, who dedicated their lives to care for these charismatic lions, are heartbroken by their loss.
Dedicated to my late wife, Elaine who died on Tuesday this week, I will miss you so very much.
What will I do without you ?

I bought this heart-shaped gem in a shop at a mall in Berlin 5 years ago (it was in one piece at that time). I was supposed to give it to a certain girl, but I never got around to do it as I had left my balls at home (figurately speaking). Perhaps it was how it was meant to be, as from what I've heard she's happily married and working as a photographer now.
Anyways.. I've never had the "pleasure" of getting my heart broken as the picture implies. Ripped out and slowly torn apart yes, but not broken. However I didn't have any ideas of how to portrait how I feel now so I went with the broken-theme.

Aw shit, I’m not going to even lie, I was faded as fuck. I was rocking the 40 oz. and off a fistful of thizz pills. Tina Modotti dared my ass to take Diego’s car and ghostride it down Crenshaw. I was dancing next to the whip when the police popped up behind me and put their hands on me. I started swinging and dropped one of them before they maced me and put me in cuffs. I think there was a COPS camera crew with them.
Let’s get down to business. When did you decide to start calling yourself Ghetto Frida? What was the turning point?
I was in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Diego and I have some pieces in their permanent collection. I was watching this young kid who was looking at one of my paintings, I walked up to him and asked him who his favorite artist was. He said, “My favorite artist? 50 Cent is my favorite artist.” When I asked him why he replied, “When he was in the ghetto, 50 Cent was shot 9 times and survived!”
This kid didn’t know who I was but he knew 50 Cent ‘cause he had been shot 9 times. I thought to myself. “Being shot ain’t shit, the pain of my streetcar accident is on a whole other level. Why doesn’t he know who I am?” I knew I had to do something to make myself relevant, to change my image, and reconnect with the people. I’ve been steady mobbin’ ever since.
Not everyone has supported your transition into Ghetto Frida. Matthew Barney was very outspoken in criticizing you for the move.
And look what happened to him. Me and Trotsky rolled onto the set of the latest Cremaster movie and broke him off a piece of my response. I handed out one of the illest chin checks you’ll ever see that day; it was sick. I felt a little bad because the dude obviously couldn’t scrap, but you know the name of the game when you call out Ghetto Frida, I’m fo’ real.
How do you define your ghettoness? You tend to handle your biz on the violent tip, why not call yourself Gangster Frida?
Being gangster is about what you do for money and I don’t do this shit for money. On the real, I’ve gotten offers to create my own clothing line, my own shoe line, but I don’t get down like that. I’m tired of these so-called street artists making $80.00 t-shirts and claiming that they’re still down with the block. The streets is poor and it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none. Those fools need to sit the fuck down and get their shit straight before I revoke their ghetto passes. You have your own line of shirts from Upper Playground, shoes by Reebok, or a limited edition vinyl toy from Japan? That ain’t shit to me. Ghetto Frida’s not jockin’ no clothing companies, gallery owners, or art dealers. You want that noise? Go hit up the latest issue of Juxtapoz and see who’s on their nutsack this month.
