This is the harness that plugs into the back of the factory headunit in the Mazdaspeed 6 BOSE system. To make your pre-out you will be cutting 8 wires from this harness and splicing in your RCA cables.
Perfectly clean "german style" integration ! Headunit's trim ring is removed and center console completely reworked (watch the openings between headunit and center console : everywhere same distance !!)

Easy as pie. I was able to reuse the mounting sleeve and wiring harness from my old KD-AR960. Basically, pulled the old radio out, fed the microphone and USB cables through and then put the new radio in. Connecting all of the cables to the back is always a pain but it is with any radio in my car.
The new unit works amazingly well. I'm VERY happy. Bluetooth is awesome and the hands-free quality is spectacular. People report super clear voice quality.

I purchased some of these cables to use as "donor" cables for making my own RCA Pre-Outs straight from the headunit. In the Mazdaspeed 6, the headunit is not powered so it's perfect for use with aftermarket amps/signal processors.

The stereo downloads your entire phonebook over bluetooth and lets you browse through it right on the headunit. It also uses it when you have an incoming call by doing a reverse lookup. (On the caller ID.)
In addition to the phone book, it allows you to look at your missed calls, dialed calls and received calls lists.
On top of that, you can go through read, unread, sent and outbox text message folders.
How cool is that?
Not wanting a full sized keyboard in his car, Hayden drew inspiration from another install by TomG involving the adoption of a stock Ford headunit to control an IR remote.
Selling these, so it's only a matter of time before someone asks for real pictures. Figured I'd make them pretty, or as close to that as cheap paper, wireless flash and the floor would allow. :)

The shot would be more impressive if the display was showing the id3v1 tag for the mp3 song title instead of the time :)
