I have been wanting to build a minifigure scale Outrider for years - here it is at last.
If you don't know... The Outrider belonged to Space pilot (and substitute Solo) Dash Rendar in the multimedia adventure Shadows of the Empire. I was at university at the time, and made sure I collected the Comic book, Action Figures (and Ships) and anything else I could get my hands on. I never managed to get the N64 game ;{.
A few months ago I was playing around with the Grey wedge plates and found that I had created the main saucer shape seen in the photos. And I knew I had to finish the Outrider.
I am quite happy with the result. It is going to sit next to my Force Awakens Falcon, and the 1996 Kenner Action Figure scale outrider.
There is a small interior and working ramp. There is a Dash render minifig in the cockpit. I'll take another shot of him soon, when I have finished my next project...

Permanent marker, watercolor brush markers (first attempt with those!) and white gelly roll pen. Oh, and a bit of zentangling because I can't NOT do zentangling.

Having arrived with 5Q41 ex-Tyseley LMD, the new West Midlands Railway unit was sat in platform 8. It would depart as 5Q42 to New Street.

Graphium agamemnon - Tailed jay (or Green triangle) from the swallowtail family is a common species native to India and Sri Lanka and parts of Southeast Asia and Australia.
Have wanted to shoot this for so long...just happened to have put my camera in the car before I left not thinking of this until I drove by...dodged some trucks on the road to get the view as I only had my 50mm lens with me.

They have a quite nice enclosure and you can take pics of them at eye height.
Having been serviced and fuelled 2 three car sets are about to move onto the carriage sidings at Tyseley, the leading car is 53040. To the left is the mound of scrap indicating the rail connected business of Allan Rowland metals, today his board still faces Tyseley station although the yard has been closed for many years. The station is as it was before it was became faux GWR on it's last refurbishment when the platform gained ridiculous flower planters that nobody maintains and are a magnet for litter. The dark line in front of the train is a shadow of a lamp post, lengthy in the low winter sun. 10/02/1985

Despite having been in Holland-Zeewolde since October, I have to say that the chances of seeing Flamingos in Curaçao are a bit higher. This one took off after a while and reminded me of the cartoon series where Roadrunner (miep miep) always took off.
I thought that was what he was trying to convey :))
My squirrels are back, but am yet to go and get them peanuts, for now they survive on whatever nuts I have on hand (almonds :) Cashews (which they dont care for as much, as I discovered).
This is "Shanku" begging for peanuts :) I will go get them by afternoon for sure.

I have been out all day visiting Peter's Dad in hospital and now my daughters have invited me to see Les Miserables with them - catch you later.
Peter's Dad is coming along nicely and they are hoping to move him to a rehabilitation centre next week where it is expected he will further recover until they feel he is able to go home.
The adult male is virtually pure white, but females and young birds have some dark scalloping; the young are heavily barred, and dark spotting may even predominate.
You really have no idea how far I've fallen behind posting these pictures. It's becoming clear I will either have to curb my camera habits...or drown in an endless sea of photos. 😉

Tonight, I have just posted the final 11 photos taken on a fungi walk, on 14 September 2019.
A small group of us were invited to explore the 18-acre property, SW of the city, belonging to Rick and Connie Hillary. This we did, on 14 September 2019. This beautiful mix of forest and grassland held so many treasures of the fungus kind and others. At the very start of our nature walk, Rick was happy to show us the beautiful mushrooms that were growing near his house. What an absolute treat! Even Karel, our fungi leader, had never seen this species before - Shaggy parasol / Chlorophyllum (formerly Macrolepiota) rhacodes. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw them - so perfect, hiding in the grass.
Rick told us there were other species to enjoy, further along the walk. One small area, especially, had a good variety growing amongst the trees. Our cameras barely stopping shooting - so much fun.
Two of the three dogs in this family accompanied us for the whole walk. Mother and daughter, who were such loving animals. What a dog paradise they live in, giving them the freedom to run and play-fight, seemingly with boundless energy. Only after several hours, when our walk ended, did their energy seem to run out temporarily, giving me a chance to take photos of them.
Thank you so much, Rick and Connie, for your very kind invitation. I hope you could tell how much we enjoyed ourselves! The extra and unexpected kindness of providing us with cheese and crackers and delicious cake afterwards was so much appreciated.

Here we have today is Express Motors Scania OmniLink CX64 EMS is seen at Caernarfon bus station as its on the route 1 to Porthmadog. This bus has now ended up in the Express Motors livery.
Celebrations have begun. A new table, chair, chicken leg and a few goblets give our footsoldiers a little holiday spirit!

Heather and I are very fortunate to travel as much as we do. We rate most of our trips as very good or excellent. Very rarely do we have trips that are busts or not very good. This one was one of them. It seemed like everything went wrong.
Background: the Blue Angels over winter at the Naval Air Facility El Centro in California, close to the Mexican border. They practice their demonstration flights 2-3 times a day. At the end of the winter season, usually in mid-March, the NAF hosts an air show featuring the Blue Angels and other airplanes. We try to make it down to El Centro for the 2-3 days before the air show to catch the Blues up close and personal. We usually fly into Las Vegas or San Diego, rent a car, head to El Centro and then to Nellis AFB outside of Las Vegas to catch Red Flag - a USAF military exercise with a large number of fighters, bombers, and support aircraft. For two airplane geeks, this is like Heaven.
Well, things changed this year. The first one was these events happened during Spring Break, so car rentals were going at about $800-$1,000 a week. That was insane, so we decided to drive. Star to El Centro is about 1,000 miles but we could do it.
Then shortly before our trip, a certain US President decided to start a useless, stupid war in Iran. On top of the obvious fallout, there were side effects. Gas prices really went up. Yuck. Then security issues kicked in. While we driving down to El Centro, the air show was canceled. We didn't hear about this until we arrived there. The Navy decided to skip El Centro and take part in an air show in Yuma. As part of this, they also practiced in Yuma, only taking off and landing at El Centro. So, instead of seeing the Blues do a full practice 6-7 times during our stay, we caught them one time. That sucked, but it was better than nothing, but driving 1,000 miles to see one practice session wasn't a good deal.
We headed to Las Vegas on Sunday and ran into bad news there too. Red Flag was also canceled. We couldn't win on this trip, but we did have a good drive. Better luck next year.

I always wanted to build the Vickers Valiant and other larger planes but since I currently have a very limited storage room for LEGO, it was impossible to build those planes.
However, I saw some of the models of my friend Dornbi (Peter Dornbach), I got inspired and I decided to make an experiment and build a mini-scale Vickers Valiant.
The model features a large internal bomb bay and a large nuclear bomb inside.
This is the first mini-scale plane that I make in a while so I´m still learning how to make them.

I had been tracking this group of monkeys at Kankakei Gorge foraging in the trees below, then intercepted them as the pack made their way up to the peak.

They have adapted well to garden feeding and are particularly prominent in the winter. Blue Tits are real woodland specialists, and excel at feeding in the upper branches of trees and shrubs, often hanging upside down.Blue tits are highly active feeders. They enjoy eating insects and spiders that they find as they float effortlessly through tree branches in natural woodland. They are also huge fans of caterpillars of the winter moth..
I always like to post something a little silly on a Thursday and I think this falls into this category.

While filling in time before the movie was to start yesterday we went out to the carpark at the Hudson mall as I noticed tons of Gulls flying about, so I decided to take the time to try and get some shots of them, and this is one I got, Not as good as so many others I have seen on here, but pretty good for me :)

“Backing up” to Bryce Canyon National Park.
I have been spending the last couple of weeks archiving and backing up my photos to a couple of online services. Hard drives fail and memories fade.
It has been a great treat to go down memory lane and to see how far I have gone with my photography. In the next couple of weeks I will be posting photos from my archives that I somehow overlooked and reprocessing some older ones.
This photo was taken back in 2007 when I was photographing all over the American Southwest like a maniac.
This is a sunrise shot at Bryce Canyon National Park in southwestern Utah. I spent a couple of days in the park waiting for some great light. On my first morning there was a great sunrise but no clouds. Ditto for the next morning. On my last morning it rained the night before and throughout the morning but I was rewarded with clouds and a magical "light show."
