Having been associated with the DfT sponsored hire arrangement between Direct Rail Services and Northern Rail almost since its inception in May 2015 37 401 'Mary Queen of Scots' is seen passing the terraced cottages at Comley Bank on the approach to Aspatria station. She is working train 2C45 the 09.18 Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle on a grey damp winters morning.
Northern Rail are keen to dispense with this hire arrangement ASAP but it has been subject to a DMU cascade from ScotRail and Anglia releasing suitable class 156 DMU's to Northern which have been delayed. There have been several dates suggested for the final day but one has passed already namely the timetable change on the 8th December. Another possible end date was mid January but a new date of the 28th December is being banded about after 4 x 156's arrived from Scotland in mid December. That said the contract doesn't formerly finish until the end of March 2019, there was never an intention to run them to the bitter end so the two class 37 diagrams could finish at very short notice. I guess the motto "Catch them while you can" holds true. The four year hire period was deemed long enough for Northern Rail to obtain replacement stock after a botched cascade by the DfT in 2015 saw TPE 170's go to Chiltern to be replaced by 156's from Northern who were already short of units to the point it left an operational shortfall of stock.

Having passed the signal box at Trent Valley Junction, Cross Country Class 221 Super Voyager DMU 221124 approaches Lichfield Trent Valley (High Level) working 1V58 11.44 York to Plymouth
I have always feared the dark, making it a challenge to shoot the Milky Way at night by myself. Last night, I decided to face that fear head-on and venture out alone. I had long dreamed of capturing this bridge, but the light pollution from Boise always held me back. To my delight, I arrived to find the Milky Way clearly visible in the night sky. However, my fears of shooting alone quickly turned into frustration as the area was bustling with locals fishing in the dark, their bright flashlights cutting through the night. Adding to the chaos, fishing boats with blinding floodlights sped up and down the Snake River, music blaring. Despite the unexpected hustle and bustle, I met a fellow local photographer with the same idea. We chatted for a while, and I made a wonderful new acquaintance. After much patience and perseverance, I captured this stunning image. I'm very grateful for the light pollution—it did a fantastic job illuminating the foreground! What a beautiful night it turned out to be. It was well worth it all.
This is a stacked image (15 shots) taken with the Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8 S lens and Nikon Z8. I used a linear camera profile to edit this photo in Lightroom, Starry Landscape Stacker, and final editing in Photoshop.

Today, 14 November 2019, I have just posted five more odds and ends of photos, from way back in my archives, instead of going through photos taken more recently. Mind you, I shouldn't be posting anything, as I have started (yet again) backing up and deleting photo folders from my hard drive, as I am pretty well out of space. Also, I will have to take my computer in as soon as possible, to get it changed over from Windows 7 to Windows 10, seeing as support/security for Windows 7 comes to an end in January. So, a fair bit of deleting would be a good thing to do before I take in my computer. Not to mention a good thing before my computer crashes! I have added the description that was under another photo taken the same day, 6 May 2016.
Yet another overcast, dreary morning here today, 18 November 2016, with a temperature of -3C (windchill -7C). The sun is supposed to come out this afternoon, which would be a really welcome sight.
This photo of a Great Horned Owlet was taken on 6 May 2016, in a local natural area/park. Unfortunately, I had half a dozen errands to run before allowing myself to go out with my camera, so I didn't get there till late, and the light quickly began to fade. No time to look around the area for any other birds on this visit.
This beautiful owlet had been on the ground for a while before I arrived. There were a few people there and more came and went. However, I later heard that the owlet had been able to claw and flap its way up one of the trees and was safely out of reach of most predators. Meanwhile, the other fledgling had been very high up in a different tree, along with Mom. I'm glad I did call in at this location when I did, as this beautiful little owl gave us a few chances for photos when it was up on a log or down on the ground, usually partly hidden by the plants and bushes. I don't know how it ended up on the ground, but obviously it fell from somewhere or misjudged flying distance and missed an intended branch when it finally left the nesting tree. An interesting world for it to explore, though it wasn't very steady on its feet yet : )
Things seem to happen so fast this spring and I missed seeing the two owlets balancing on the rim of the nesting tree, exercising their wings before fledging. Also, I had been so busy that I only went over to see the youngsters a handful of times. Looking on the more important side, this meant one less person intruding on their area, of course, though I have to say that these owls are remarkably tolerant of humans. If a Canada Goose, on the other hand, should get anywhere near the nest or the little ones, Mom or Dad flies in for an immediate attack.

Have spent a lot of time shooting all sorts of things lately and have literally got thousands of images backing up all wanting to be set free onto flickr, but only so many hours in the day so i 'll just continue to do random postings and catch up as best as i can.
One thing that always motivates is the desire to be a bit different, and i'm hoping i've done that here with a little batch of colourful macro shots i took of some strawberries that somehow escaped the ice-cream bowl in our house and got some really interesting mouldy growth on them!

This baby was found at the side door on the doormat asleep. He was week and hungry, I guess his mother forgot him while coming up to eat the night before. I just so happen to have a baby bottle for kittens from my last find, and extra kitten formula... You didn't have to ask this baby twice, he took to the bottle like a duck takes to water.. As you can see he is much stronger now, I have photo's of this baby taking a bottle also on my photostream.

Having only a few seconds before been driving along a steep wooded river valley it came as a bit of a shock to come across this outstanding RAF interceptor of the '60s and '70s. It was mounted on a plinth on the premises of Castle Air just off the A38 near Liskeard in Cornwall.
It is actually 31 years since this plane took its last flight in November 1987. According to Wikipedia, the Lightning remains the only UK-designed and built fighter capable of Mach 2. It was designed, developed, and initially manufactured by English Electric and was operated by the RAF, the Kuwait Air Force and the Royal Saudi Air Force.
The Lightning was initially designed and developed as a high speed interceptor to defend the V bomber airfields from attack by anticipated future nuclear-armed supersonic Soviet bombers such as the Tupolev Tu-22, but it was subsequently also required to intercept other bomber aircraft such as the Tupolev Tu-16 and the Tupolev Tu-95. The Lightning had an exceptional rate of climb, ceiling, and speed but was limited by its fuel capacity. Later developments provided greater range and speed along with aerial reconnaissance and ground-attack capability.
I have been trying to learn a bit of art work type things... The bench is from the park down the street, the cat is a visitor who checks on me occasionally, and the Canada geese are from the wetlands... Yes, I know the geese should be flying into the picture but being the creator of this picture, I chose to lead you out of the shot.. LOL!!!

Having arrived as outbound Keolis/MBTA train 805 from Boston and deboarded all their passengers the trainset is now deadheading back to the layover yard just over the Pawtucket line. F40PH-3C rebuild is shoving on the rear as the train rolls east on Main 2 of Amtrak's New Haven Line at ORMS interlocking at MP 186.

The FFF+ have created a group challenge called "Five On The Fifth" (FOTF) . . . five images in the form of a collage or composite must be uploaded on the 5th of each month, with there being a different theme, set by a member of the group each month.

The obvious choice for me was Bob Dylan. I had picked out a song and I have a great idea for a concept image. However, time got in the way and there is no way I could do a half hearted or rushed job for my musical hero. So instead, I have chosen "Everything I've got Belongs to You" by Ed Keupper. I chose this one because I think this is one of the great opening lines to a song and it has inspired this image:

I am still a baby Photoshop user but I did this in P.S and it somehow evolved into close to what I wanted it to be. It is five images that I took at home and layered over each other using blend modes. I made one mistake that the image was too small as I based it on book template. Andrew was able to resize it to make it bigger!

Another photo from my archives. We saw this plant at Fingal Bay, NSW and I have never seen anything like it before. It was growing on a large bush/tree and it was a most amazing shape and colour. The bush was covered in the flowers. I have googled with the help of Kounelli - it is an African tulip tree (Spathodea campanulata) .

Have this one for three days now and still learning how to use it!
So much different from what I've been using so far.
Over the years I have taken close to 25,000 photos of my feminine persona. If you consider that I have posted about 3,400 here, that is less than 15% of all the photos I have in my library. Cristy is quite photogenic and 99% of the photos I take are good enough for posting so, how do I select which ones to post? Simple, I select the ones I like based on what I consider acceptable feminine deportment and appearance.
Since the beginning, my intention has been to share my feminine illusion efforts with likeminded people; not to get comments but rather to contribute to set a standard of tasteful and respectful emulation. Poise, attitude, choice of clothes and accessories, are among the factors I take into consideration. My inspiration comes from every single woman that I see and admire for her presentation and deportment. For me it is not a fetish for any item, but rather a representation of how women, my age, currently present. For instance, I don’t wear nylons because women do not wear them anymore and not because I don’t like them.
Fashion is important to me, but I select my clothes based on what I like and consider that would look good on me while reinforcing my feminine illusion. I wear mostly French manicure on my fingernails and toenails because that is what I like. You will never catch me wearing any unusual or trendy nail color or ornament, just because it is in fashion. A woman who is confident in herself wears what she likes and not what a trend sets, or others suggest. That is the kind of woman that I’d like to think I represent. I post old photos along with more current ones because it is not about how I look or what I wear today; it is about the art of feminine illusion regardless of time, fashion or whether it is the first or the Nth photo in that outfit and location.
After explaining my approach, I hope that when you look at my photos, you can see beyond what I am wearing and appreciate or criticize how I am wearing it, and how I measure in performing the feminine role based on that approach. Thanks to my approach, I have always received respectful comments and, over the years, l have deleted very few of them and have had to block less than a handful of people. I read and appreciate every single comment and even more so when they address what I had in mind when posting the photo. However, you should not feel obliged to comment unless you really feel like it and believe that you got something positive, or negative, from the photo, the title, or the text that goes with it.
From now on I will try to share why I choose the photo I am posting and will start with this one.
This photo is the first I will share of a long series of photos taken before and after my first ever religious service as Cristy (more about that in the future). In general, I’d like to think that my choice of clothes was appropriate for the occasion and that I was able to blend in, although I realized that I was a bit overdressed. A very feminine fit and flare dress with colorful flower print, by Maggie London, was, in my opinion, quite suitable, as were the Kate Spade flats that completed the look for Church. Nothing flashy or revealing here, as it should be. This dress would look great with a pair of heels too but would not be appropriate for attending Catholic Mass. For the pose I tried to be as demure as possible with my hands resting on my lap and my legs crossed in a very feminine manner with my feet pointing down (something that I find hard to do because my articulations are quite rigid).

Para mi no se trata de un fetichismo por algún tipo de prenda, sino que de una representación de cómo una mujer, de mi edad, luce en estos tiempos. Por ejemplo, no uso medias porque las mujeres ya no las usan y no porque no me guste usarlas.
La moda es importante para mí, pero elijo la ropa con base a lo que me gusta y considero que se vería bien en mí y que contribuya a reforzar la ilusión femenina. Por lo general uso esmalte de uñas en estilo francés porque es lo que me gusta. Jamás verán mis uñas pintadas don los colores drásticos que están de moda, con distintos adornos y colores en cada uña, solo porque está de moda. Una mujer segura de sí misma se viste como ella quiere y no como lo dicta la moda o le sugieren otras personas. Este es el tipo de mujer que quisiera pensar que represento. Subo fotos viejas junto con recientes porque no se trata de compartir cómo luzco hoy o qué llevo puesto, sino que se trata de emulación femenina sin importar la fecha, la moda o si es la primera o enésima foto con esa ropa y en ese lugar.
Luego de exponerles mi enfoque, espero que al ver mis fotos puedan ver más allá de lo que llevo puesto y aprecien o critiquen la manera en que lo llevo puesto y que tan bien logro mi objetivo en desempeñar el rol femenino, con base a este enfoque. Gracias a este enfoque, siempre he recibido comentarios respetuosos y, a través de los años, he tenido que borrar muy pocos y he bloqueado a menos de 5 personas. He leído y apreciado cada comentario recibido y más aún cuando se relacionan con lo que tenía en mente al compartir la foto. Sin embargo, no tienen por qué sentir el compromiso de comentar a no ser que realmente piensen que obtuvieron algo positivo, o negativo, de la foto, del título o del texto que la acompaña.

Esta foto es la primera que compartiré de muchas que me tomaron antes y después de mi primer servicio religioso como Cristy (y ales contaré más en el futuro). En general, quisiera pensar que mi elección de ropa fue adecuado para la ocasión y que pude integrarme al entorno. El vestido muy femenino, ceñido arriba, falda amplia y estampado floral (Maggie London) era muy adecuado en mi opinión, así como las zapatillas sin tacón de Kate Spade que completaban el look para asistir a la iglesia. Nada llamativo o revelador, como debe de ser. Este vestido se vería muy bien con tacones pero no habría sido apropiado para asistir a la misa Católica. En cuanto a la pose, intenté lucir relajada con mis manos sobre el regazo las piernas cruzadas en forma femenina y sencilla, mientras intento apuntar mis pies hacia abajo (algo que me cuesta mucho porque mis articulaciones son muy rígidas)
We have lived in Northamptonshire for over 45 years, and although we have previously seen a trickle of water in the overflow of the former Sywell reservoir I don't think we have ever seen water gushing down like this before. It eventually flows into the River Nene near Earls Barton.
Sywell Reservoir, between Wellingborough and Northampton was built at the turn of the 20th century to supply water to the Higham Ferrers and Rushden areas. It operated between 1906 and 1979 and is now a country park run by Northamptonshire County Council.

Synopsis
Kei Kitami # who is aiming for a university # meets Kaori Uemura # an event companion who is 6 years older than her on SNS.
Kaori's dream of coming to Tokyo is to become friends with famous artists.
For that purpose # the presence of radio station producer Ryo Osawa was necessary.
Osawa talks to Kaori during the live radio broadcast.
"I have a wife and a child # but I want to see you."
Kay's classmate # Rika Sanjo # who thinks of him # was exploring Kaori's trends. .. .. .. ..

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

今後、僕は、” Lot No.402_ ”を主催します。
このロットナンバーは、眠っていたレオナルドダヴィンチの作品がオークションにかけらた際に付されたものです。
作品にはサインなどがいっさい記されていなかったため、彼の作品だと断定できませんでした。
しかし、様々な鑑定の結果、陽の光を浴びました。
誰にも気づかれない作品。肩書がなくとも静かに語りかける作品。
僕はこれから様々な形で、多くの皆様に提供できるよう努めてゆきます。

I have many, what I would consider close contacts – they see my photo and always pop in to comment or have a chat – regardless of whether the photo is good or not – I do like that sort of contact – although the relationship is only a sentence or two once in a while when I post a photo – they are probably the reason why I stay on flickr. One of these frequent visitors is Bonnie who has been a dear friend throughout my time on flickr. She lives very far away from my home and we might never meet but she is an important part of my flickr life. Pop over to see her photos and you will see her great use of the camera – her passion over animal and bird welfare especially the love of ducks and her great warmth – honesty and humour.
I took this photo for Bonnie the other day. It is just not any duck – it is one of 6 ducks owned by one of the people I visit who has a learning disability. This person has had a hard time of it recently and the people who support them bought the ducks. And it really is working in making this person deal with some sad issues. The smile I get now when I visit is a delight and instead of going into the house for a chat we spend a lot of the time with the ducks. This person feeds and takes great care of them. It has turned out to be the best therapy in the world for this person right when they needed it. Whilst I sit in the sun watching this person with their ducks I think of Bonnie and how she would just love to see what I see.
