I have just returned home from Cyprus after the marriage of my daughter Sarah to my new son-law-law Tim and I managed to find time to capture a sunset at this beautiful Mediterranean location.
This image was taken from the rocky coastline close to Ayia Napa and is dedicated to my beautiful daughter Sarah & her handsome husband Tim!
1/250 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.
Thanks for any comments you may wish to leave.

Flickr photo number 1000. This is slightly out of sequence, but I wanted a memorable shot for this upload
Having decided to hang around for the extra 4 hours for the return Waverley railtour to York I was questioning that decision, as with 20 minutes till it was due there was heavy cloud over Ais Gill. As the scheduled time approached, the sun could be seen starting to creep up the Dale from Mallerstang. Luck was on my side as the 8F was running 7 minutes late. The sun had reached the viaduct as 48151 came into view around the far corner, and advanced slowly towards us and eventually beat the train to this spot by about 50 yards. Those standing in the usual gallery shot position on the other side of the road bridge only got shade. Oh yes, and the rods are down too !!
For the record Stanier 8F 2-8-0 48151 leads 47245 with 1Z71 The last Waverley railtour of the season, 16:18 Carlisle - York. The steam locomotive came off at Hellifield because of a contentious ban on steam in the Yorkshire area imposed by Network Rail

“Our officers of cavalry have acquired a trick of galloping at everything. They never consider the situation, never think of manoeuvring before an enemy, and never keep back or provide a reserve.”
—Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington
The Charge of the Scots Greys at the Battle of Waterloo (as part of the greater charge of the British Heavy cavalry) on June 18, 1815, is one of the most famous in history. Initially in reserve for the battle, commanding officer Lt-Colonel James Hamilton ordered their charge on his own responsibility when he observed British infantry units beginning to fall back under the weight of the attacking French D'Erlon's Corps. Overall, the attack helped turn the tide in favor of the British and caused D’Erlon's attack to fail, but in what followed was a tragedy as the entire British calvary then charged forward towards the main French line. Having taken casualties, disorganized and their horses blown out, the Scots Greys and the rest of the Heavy Cavalry found themselves before the main French lines, were then raked by artillery and then surprised by a French counter-attack by their Polish lancers. The remnants retreated to the British lines, harried by the lancers. They eventually reformed, supporting the rest of the British line as best they could with carbine fire. In all, the Scots Greys suffered 104 dead, 97 wounded and 228 of their 416 horses killed. When they were finally reformed, the Scots Greys could only field two weakened squadrons, rather than the three complete ones with which they had begun the day.

My first MOC of 2015, and one of several for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, 1815.
This is as close to the original painting, (done in 1881 by Lady Butler), as I think you can get, if I do say so myself. This is the full MOC. Hope you all like it! :)
Day Lily Day. Final have a flower on the Day Lily that hasn’t been deformed by the heavy rain and wind we have been experiencing.
Daylilies (Hemerocallis) are perennial plants, whose name alludes to its flowers, which typically last about a day. The flowers of most species open in early morning and wither during the following night, possibly replaced by another one on the same scape the next day. Some species are night-blooming. Daylilies are not commonly used as cut flowers for formal flower arranging, yet they make good cut flowers otherwise, as new flowers continue to open on cut stems over several days.
Unless I have done a terrible job on a shoot, which I think is rare, there is always a favorite photo. Most of the time it's the same one for my model and I, but every now and then it differs. As far as I can remember, this was both Kerewin and my favorite from this shoot.
I only had an hour, and it's extremely rare for me to get to shoot indoors. I was staying at an old, yet fancy, hotel in Black Mountain, about 15 minutes or so from Asheville, and I had to figure out on the fly how to use the space. I thought I'd have plenty of light to use, but the clouds were against me at the last minute, so I was starting to worry if it would all work out just before she got there.
The good news? I'm a screw up. I actually found a really good method of taking double exposures indoors using the built in flash because I forgot to turn it off for this shot. I was kicking myself when it went off, and then ecstatic when I saw the results. Everything after this was trying the ideas that came flooding in rather than worry. Not planning ahead, or remembering to take certain steps, is always the best. Don't think, just have fun, I say.

"Glad to be alive"
Watched these babies having serious fun in the field...In all my years I never realised how beautifully social these animals are...Mum keeps eating whilst the youngsters gather around each other until they're in a big enough gang to RUN...and JUMP...and BOUNCE...
How we eat them I'll never know...just beautiful to watch.

Interestingness: #56.
Have you ever wondered how Pippi Longstocking gained supernatural strength and eternal youth?
At a biological age of 24 (about 400 standard years) she revealed her true identity as a Sith Lady.
Henceforth she would be known and feared throughout the Galaxy as Darth Longstocking.
