Having fun with a new aquisition, a Sigma 150-600mm lens that despite its size it's not as heavy as I thought. This image was taken somewhere near home on a daily walk with my dog.
Having experienced a fairly quiet spell at the feeders in my garden of late there has now suddenly been an explosion of activity with all the newly fledged youngsters finding the free handout available to them.
The great tits seem to have had a successful spring and their young by far outnumber any other species offspring at my feeders this year.
Its interesting to see how each year differs and I seem to remember last year the coal tits and blue tits did best.
I also have a young male great spotted woodpecker visiting the peanut and fat ball feeders currently which is good as I hadn't seen an adult visit for months.
Having been held at Dalmally for over an hour awaiting the next Oban bound unit, 73968 is then seen passing Dalrigh (between Tyndrum and Crianlarich) on 25.03.17, while working the 5Y11 10.30 Oban - Polmadie Caledonian Sleeper ECS. 73967 was on the rear.

What I love so much about going back to photos I have taken over the years is how they not only bring back memories, but even more so the exact feelings I had while taking them. This was more than one and a half years ago when I had just moved to Stuttgart and began studying Visual Communication. It was a time of beautiful autumn colours, new friends and feeling whole again — and it is always lovely to remember those first weeks of a new life.
Have not shoot landscape for a while, as I had been busy in some projects lately, and not many interestingness in local also at this time of the year also.
When Yiupai reported sunset 24 hours earlier, I have no idea to go until I saw the cloud was going to make. I rushed to this spot to record the sunset burn.
Again, this sunset burn was predicted by Yiupai sunset forecast 24 hours earlier.

We have seen this roe deer in the same spot before, it's obviously her patch. We watched her for a long while through binoculars. She mooched around eating, then took herself off to the base of the rock face and settled down on some soft grass in front of it for a wash and a snooze. She spent a good deal of time on her grooming and variously slept and listened for noises.
She suddenly came alert and leapt to her feet and darted off although we hadn't seen what had spooked her, but saw a smaller, darker animal run across the hillside lower down. Our first thought was that it was a walker's dog that had caused her to take flight. But she appeared again shortly and we could see her eating again amongst the ferns. As we got glimpses through the greenery, it became evident that she had a fawn with her. She was suckling him and washing him and they spent a lot of time snuzzling faces. We didn't get much of a clear look until they left the undergrowth and walked across a clearing. It was obvious that she knew we were there, as it had been all along, she certainly heard my shutter going. But she didn't seem overly concerned that we posed a threat.
It was an incredible privilege to witness them together, I've never seen anything like it in the wild and as they moved from view I felt very emotional that she'd allowed me to watch.

Never would I have imagined anything like this if I sat down to paint an iris. DDG combined two images and produced this bold painting, which I really like.
Having been at WWT Slimbridge all morning on the return home I stopped off in the Cotswolds hoping to see a Short Eared Owl
It was a three hour wait before this Short Eared Owl showed up, quartering the Grassland looking for food.
Short Eared Owls are medium sized Owls with mottled brown bodies, pale under-wings and yellow eyes. They are often seen hunting during the day. In winter, there's an influx of continental birds from Scandinavia, Russia, Iceland to the UK.
Not being the most technical of individuals I have only just twigged that my iPhone has a "pano" facility. I promise not to use it too much, but here's the first attempt. The content is my work pal Dusty who is seen stood on the summit of Meall nan Tarmachan which was his first mountain climb of note.

I have been very busy this past month, but I did find the time to photograph my favorite deer herd. On this day, I was privileged to photograph this mama with her three triplets. It has not been easy getting all of them together, but I finally did!
Just like a creature of habit this fella has been coming over to my neighbours yard now swimming in from the creek for a few days now in the late afternoon. He/she looks a little worse for wear with some skin hanging off it around is back, up on the other side near it''s "shoulder" and seems to have a chunk out of it's tail as well..
I hope you know that I appreciate your comments and visits. I may not get back to you quickly but I will try my best.
As I have (repeatedly) said before, this lighthouse is my dream home, and I can't help but take photos of it whenever I go to the Oeiras Marina, which is quite close to where I live.

At 11 am 19th of December 2011, Indy was put to sleep, I was with him to the end keeping the promises I made to him on his first day with me. I told him he would never have a moment when he didn’t know he was loved, he would live a life as free as possible and I would be there at the end.

Having just met southbound crude oil train Q576 at Gentry, AR, manifest train M263 takes the main track to continue its journey north on the cool and pleasant evening of Sunday, September 8, 2024. With just a hint of sunlight remaining on the horizon, a crescent moon and several stars are becoming visible as the sky grows darker.
I’ve always had a hard time leaving a place my heart has become so close to (not only places I call home). Whenever the time of leaving something behind had come, I felt like I needed to take one last closer look, and yet I never saw enough to take all of the little things in to carry a memory of them with me in the future.
Forgetting was the one thing I could never quite get over, and I found myself missing so much of what I had known and who I had been during my time at that place, even months later. Nowadays I even tend to be afraid of leaving when nothing is decided yet, but I have realized that all the photographs I take wherever I go will replace the feeling of not being able to grasp all of it in the end — at least at some point — and enable me to remember what once was so important to me. Always.

Having picked up urgent cargo shipments at a mine in Ruth, a Nevada Northern fast freight charges east on the ore line, destined for the East Ely yards, some 8 miles down the line. Leading the charge is the high-stepping 10-wheeler #40, which the railroad typically uses in passenger and express freight operations.
This image was captured during a February 2010 winter photo shoot at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum in Ely, NV. The train is pictured here just west of the White Pine County Rte. 44A bridge, just east of Ruth. Although the tracks used to go all the way into town, recent expansion of mining operations in this area have resulted in some of that trackage being removed. The line currently dead ends literally a couple of hundred feet behind the caboose in this image.
