for one year i have chosen to live a handcrafted, secondhand life... and so our christmas tree is 'green' in a different sense of the word this year.
made from
- a dead branch out back
- a thrifted red bucket
- a bag of concrete in the garage
- white paint from the cupboard
- crocheted garlands i made two years ago
- vintage pot holders
- thriftstore figurines, painted
- vintage glass ornaments
- vintage cotton spools
- vintage knitting needles
- straw decorations from my box of 'glee'
- vintage button cards
- crocheted doily circles
- yarn balls from last christmas
- length of knitted cream yarn waiting to be made into a blanket one day
- vintage tablecloth
- thriftstore table painted white
and of course
- antique doilies
my clan at mossy shed, have located their 'rose colored' specs and embraced their 'whatnot gleeful tree for this year.
i miss a real tree, but i do believe for this year, i have pulled off a 'handcrafted secondhand' tree of glee...
I am having a "me" day. I'm not doing anything today unless I want to. And if that means that I'm going to tuck myself into the couch and watch Aladdin or Sword in the Stone, then that's what I'll do! This is both inspired by and dedicated to my dear friend Devin who is also a huge Disney "nerd". Although he is one step above since he actually works at Disneyland, I have a feeling that if we lived in the same city we'd be pretty good friends!
Today I went for a fantastic 40km bike ride on a brand new trail between my town and the next one, it's on a reclaimed train route and it was just a perfect way to spend the afternoon, the trail was bustling with happy couples, kids on rollerblades, even a few horses. I love those kinds of rides!
Hope you all get a chance to have a "you" day soon!
p.s. the ears are from my very first set of Mickey ears back when we went on a family trip to Disneyland when I was 8
I have a dream I would be able to find a perfect palm tree: one that has a body that would go over a picturesque sand beach very close to water and then turn higher. I would love to take a picture of such a tree during a beautiful sunset.
Well, this photo almost has it! Upon our vacation in Seychelles I discovered this beautiful palm tree during a most beautiful sunset! Too bad the tree is a bit too majestical and tries to reach skies bit too early. Other than that, perfect!

Having caught up with friends and brought all the groceries yesterday, we spent a very relaxing morning in Carlingford, getting a few last minute bits and pieces, having lunch and then visiting my 102 aunt.
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CHILD?
...our factory is prepared for an assault on the senses every nite….. We search the streets for anything we can use for our art , our message, our destiny and our savior..........I am prepared to face authority and condemnation from the new world order,in order to save a child from the streets and ravages of poverty, disease and war, our images are a metaphor for pain and ignorance to a childs plight, the innocence lost, on political corruption, religious vagrants and corporate greed,Army of One may never end war , poverty nor disease thru our grass roots meanderings and art. But we will bring it to the forefront of American Disgrace…….this Cause i have dedicated my rebirth too…….
We who run with the night..............
.We who are given the vision................
We are responsible not to lay down with complacency and mediocrity................
We are the new visionaries........
Our path is clear……Army of One/jc2
join us........
"thank you Diane Arbus for capturing a timely and Frightening image, to inspire artists like us to Fight for Children and try and Topple the War Machine through our art and creative process.............."
Having been out all day I return to find a) some fool has left the lights on and b) the daffodils have come out - how lovely!

A Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher (Ficedula strophiata) was enjoying morning good times on a tiny perch with a typical curious looks on offer. The backdrop might not be best of occasions but the sweet little personality of the bird was delightfully depicted here. This is a sweet composition to remember long. Pics was taken from a forest in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India.

Having made the 25 mile trip to the end of the line in South Barre and back Mass Central Railroad train PA-2 is almost done with their day as the arrive in Palmer with a healthy train of outbound interchange for the CSXT. They are pulling around the connection track to head east down the lead to CSXT's yard while in the foreground can be seen the diamond crossing of CSXT's Boston Sub mainline and the New England Central Railroad's Palmer Sub mainline (the former Boston and Albany and Central Vermont respectively).

Hannah Brown, Have a Nice Day
I decided to make my theme for this “Have a Nice Day” because years ago I would pass a bridge every day on my way to work, with some very amateur spray painted on it that said “Have a nice day”, and honestly, it made me happy to pass that every day. Living in a world with a lot of hate, fear, negativity and stress, it’s nice to find positivity in unexpected places. I want people to feel happy when they pass this, whether it’s just once, or every day during their daily routines.
Have you ever desperately tried to photograph a feeling? I do it all the time. ;-) This verse from "Bob Dylan" played through my thoughts as I attempted to capture this image, as a storm approached. Did my best to create an image that appeared to be a pano when not a pano at all. Lol
Hope you all enjoy my efforts....I tried!
It also would have concentrated the attention on one or two buildings and their lighting. ( like the promedica building, You would have seen much more detail than in this picture. Taken from the Docks on the east side of the river. Subject is between a quarter and a half mile away.)
We also have often sudden changes in weather, the side effects are fantastic cloud pictures like the sunset yesterday.
Looking at ~ one thousand photos that I took from my solo trip to Siem Reap, don't know when I will have the determination to process and post...still catching up...

I have discovered another amazing fact this year with our Waterlilies, The Lily in the Pond lasts 5 days,
The photo I posted the other day was 4 days in bloom,
I brought it in the kitchen and after 6 days still looks amazing with only a wrinkle or two....
So much to learn!
