I have been in Sweden once before. Some years ago, when we visited my sister in law up in Northern Norway we were tempted to go to Sweden to buy cheap moist snuff and sweats. We had heard so much about a place 40 km in Sweden that had so good offers compared to our Norwegian.
So we borrowed the Suburban from Mette's sister, a car that makes a lot of noise, burns a lot of diesel and drives like a tanker!, and drove the 60 km to the border and the 40 km into Sweeden. To find that the store had been sold, and that the week we were there were closed to be rebuilt for new owners. So we came back empty.
In the summer of 2015 we gave it a second chance. I am 46, and felt it was time to visit our nearest neighbour country. So we drove off early in the morning, stopped to visit our daugther in Oslo, and went on south to a place on the Swedish west coast called Tanum Strand, near Grebbestad late in the afternoon A nice little coastal town, with loads of people coming in boats.
We stayed at Tanum Strand hotel and had a 20 minutes walk along the shore to Grebbestad.
We stayed at Tanum for two nights, so we only had one day in Sweden.
But it was a nice stay still. This is a beautiful part of Sweden, with much to offer. So I guess I will do a three-four postings from this short holiday.

While walking the Dead Lake Trail with a view looking up and to the northwest at some nearby tree crowns of aspens and other evergreens. This setting is located in Great Basin National Park. My thought on composing this image was to go wide angle and include as much of the nearby trees as I could and use the blue skies and clouds as a backdrop. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 5 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

The Common Kingfisher is a striking small bird with a vibrant blue upper body and wings that contrast with its bright orange underparts. It has a long, dagger-like black bill and short red legs. A white patch on the neck and behind the eyes stands out against the blue plumage.
Males and females are similar, but females can be distinguished by their lower mandible (lower half of the bill), which is orange-red. Juveniles resemble adults but have duller, greener plumage and shorter bills. (Birdfact).

I have read about this car with many years ago and I couldn't believe when I saw one.
On google are just a few pictures of this model. I never thought I'd see this car. It's so rare that people don't even know about it. Even at exhibitions can't be found.
Only 37 were built between 1986 and 1990 (including 2 prototypes).

When Sophie doesn’t want to let me throw the ball, she will throw the ball/toy in the air to herself. After an afternoon of playing in the dirt, Sophie was very dirty and needed two baths to be completly clean.
It's SO funny- we have several waterers in the house for the cats, but any time I replace the big bowl of water I keep outside on the deck, Callie races out of the house to be first in line to drink! Callie, who really does not want to get her paws dirty or be outside! Somehow, this bowl of water lures her out! I barely caught this view of her from behind! She is always wary!

I have posted several pictures for those interested of the peregrine falcon fight. The juvenile falcons appeared to have started fighting over a gull. It seems they soon forgot about the gull and one falcon killed the other, then swimming with it to shore and proceeded to eat it.
We do have short-eared owls on the island too. Not as numerous as the Lower Mainland though. The clouds and fog were thick yesterday not to mention the birds keeping their distance making for a challenging shoot.
...just some more pretty clouds..I was going to take out the gate but found it rather appealing and left it. Have a great day...sorry I haven't been online much~

what to do if you do not have any girls .. just borrow your friends. She absolutely loves moddeling, although difficult to keep your eyes open and smile naturally... ;). Doing a great job. Shame we did not bring a MUAH and the local pharmacy lacked bright yellow lipstick and eyeshadow... Shame we missed the sunset.. but we will do this next holiday! We have followed these Kestrels for 3 years now on our local cliffs. 1st year the nest failed and last year we had 6 chicks fledge. This year so far so good as i definitely saw 3 chicks and 2 eggs , but know they laid 6 eggs. They are prolific hunters and superb parents.

"Yes, Mama! We didn't see it on Flickr! I was standing on the gas bottle securing the tree and I though it was SUCH a good shot!" said Patch.
"We just wanted you to share it with everybody and everybear . . ." moaned Jillian. "We even braved the snow where we got the Christmas tree!"
"Oh my! I am SO sorry, guys! I am posting it now, and you did a great job with the tree! I love you!"
"It's okay, Mama. We love you, too! Now post the photo!" Giggling from three little bears ensued. :)

Having shot NICTD commuter trolleys at sunup only 10 minutes prior and three miles east, I was almost to work when this coal load passed me going east. A quick U-turn and then park on the bridge to the beachfront netted me this shot.
South Shore freight crew PF9 runs the UP symbolled C-NAMQ at Dune Park, Indiana. This train originated at North Antelope Mine, Wyoming, and is in the last ten miles of its journey to the NIPSCO power plant at Michigan City, IN.
Eastbound freight in the morning west of Michigan City is almost impossible to obtain so this filled a big gap in my coverage of South Shore.
And I still made it to work just after 6am.
