Have a Beautiful Day Friends

Having stuck a pine branch in a pot, I suddenly realized that this Charley Brown Christmas tree could use all the fox decorations friends have given me over the years!

have a wonderful Wednesday, flickr friends!!

We have followed these Kestrels for 3 years now on our local cliffs. 1st year the nest failed and last year we had 6 chicks fledge. This year so far so good as i definitely saw 3 chicks and 2 eggs , but know they laid 6 eggs. They are prolific hunters and superb parents.

Much to the disappointment of the tiny bears, I forgot to post some of their holiday shots! Here is how THAT conversation went:

"Mama? Where IS that photo of us bring home the Christmas tree on the camper this time?" asked Julius.

"Yes, Mama! We didn't see it on Flickr! I was standing on the gas bottle securing the tree and I though it was SUCH a good shot!" said Patch.

"We just wanted you to share it with everybody and everybear . . ." moaned Jillian. "We even braved the snow where we got the Christmas tree!"

"Oh my! I am SO sorry, guys! I am posting it now, and you did a great job with the tree! I love you!"

"It's okay, Mama. We love you, too! Now post the photo!" Giggling from three little bears ensued. :)

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!

Having shot NICTD commuter trolleys at sunup only 10 minutes prior and three miles east, I was almost to work when this coal load passed me going east. A quick U-turn and then park on the bridge to the beachfront netted me this shot.

South Shore freight crew PF9 runs the UP symbolled C-NAMQ at Dune Park, Indiana. This train originated at North Antelope Mine, Wyoming, and is in the last ten miles of its journey to the NIPSCO power plant at Michigan City, IN.

Eastbound freight in the morning west of Michigan City is almost impossible to obtain so this filled a big gap in my coverage of South Shore.

And I still made it to work just after 6am.

Have a good weekend

I have't done this for a while but I do think it's time for a quiz.

Where is this?

You don't have to be Irish to enter. In fact, it's probably better that you're not.

Normally, I would offer the winner a weekend away with pieceoflace, a second prize of a week away with pieceoflace and a consolation prize of a month away with John Frisch.

I haven't heard from Comrade Lacey in a while so I hope she's OK.

Have a great weekend everyone! :-)

i have decided to start a 52 week project, except modified. my 52 week will not consist of one photo a week, but one roll of film per week. i will post one or two photos from the roll on flickr, and the rest of the roll as a whole here.

these are the photos from week one, March 6-13 2010

Have a beautiful day, everyone...

Have a creative new week everyone!

Having returned to Crewe from Warrington in its previous path (5Z44) for attention, 43058 managed to make it all the way on its second run north with 5Z45 Crewe Holding Sidings to Carlisle, with 43059 on the rear. This run was in preparation for the upcoming Staycation Express, which started the next day.

Montrealers are quite familiar with this urban sculpture. It rises above the Ville-Marie Expressway at the Fort street entrance / exit at the west end of downtown. It is part of the Canadian Centre for Architecture's "sculpture garden" in the green space that surrounds the concrete and ironwork of the expressway. According to the Centre, the sculpture garden "restores the urban fabric of an area deeply scarred by mid-20th-century highway engineering.”

It's always been a favorite of mine, a mental respite while en route to or from home or downtown. This was taken from inside the car while getting on the expressway. The Mr. was driving, I was shooting :D

Have a nice day, everyone...

Good day gentleladies and gentlelords! (✧ω✧)

Man cave opens today on the 17th of September! Some of you might have already took over the event by storm but for those who didn't - it's certainly worth a visit. Dura made new unisex hair for us, inspired by the famous actor River Phoenix. Next to a huge palette of color choices, the hair comes with three different styling options.

Since my editing is very subtle it might come as a surprise to some of you BUT (careful, sarcasm!) my pictures are heavily painted. Such surprise, very wow. But FEAR NOT MY FRIEND. I have not forsaken you. Here's a • raw preview • of the new hair ♡

I love this hair not only because it's a gender-neutral, cozy looking hair with an amazing level of detail and fine strands but also... doesn't it remind you of someone else too? Is it just me? Black hair, pale face, grumpy mood, face expression like he's constantly smelling sweaty socks or dead rats (maybe both), house teacher of Slytherin - no? Please someone safe me and make a Severus Snape cosplay for halloween with this (≧▽≦)

Before we continue with the credits I want to kindly thank Chiaki-sensei for their hard work on this hair. Thank you, Chiaki-sensei! Kudos to you and all my favorite creators who I included in this picture (also my bby and my PAPA CERB - you da best!). Biggest thanks to my lovely u10-kun for his patience and for modelling for me. Thanks for all your hard work my lovely creators and friends, you make every picture special (*´▽`*) ♡

Have you ever wondered how a drake Wood Duck in nuptial plumage, with his wide array of vibrant colors, can possibly blend into his environment? Well, this is how. Every color of this slightly-disheveled drake is echoed in his surroundings. You might think that the his white markings would stand out, but they actually help to break up his profile. You can also see bits of white as the sun reflects against the lily pads. At the bottom of the food chain, Wood Ducks must be extremely discreet, even as they dress their best to please the ladies. I write this with a heavy heart. The last couple of years have found me with a progressively debilitating spinal column and joint problems. If it were just me, I would never ask, but I have 2 young daughters that look to me for support, so I have to swallow my pride...

If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you.

..in the sand dunes at Holkham beach, Norfolk.

Having just purchased the Nikon Z100-400 S lens, I was desperate to try it, so I nipped out to nearby Plover Scar last night.

I knew that the tide would be pretty high at sunset, with high tide at 10pm, so that would give me a chance to isolate the diminutive Lighthouse with the setting sun behind.

The only trouble was the sky was pretty clear. Anyway, when I got there I could see that there was a hazy bank of cloud on the distant horizon which would diffuse the harsh setting sun at sunset. So that was good news!

The other good thing was that I could see that there was a sizeable group of Togs down on the shore, something I've never seen before here. It was either a Camera Club outing or a workshop. But now armed with this new telephoto, I had no intention of getting anywhere near the shoreline or that group!

So I set up the tripod and took this from the sea wall. This was exactly the shot I had in mind and the clouds really diffused the light and it also created this orange/golden glow. Believe it or not I have actually desaturated this a little from the original RAW file.

Anyway, my expensive purchase certainly lived up to its billing! I look forward to plenty more long lens work!
