Happy Tree mendous Tuesday

Thank you for taken your time to visit me, comments or faves are always much appreciated!

A huge tree on the main road out of town, leafless in the Winter sunshine.

We've been having severe thunderstorms in recent weeks, and according to our parish priest, this tree was struck by lightning during one such storm.

He said he and a fellow parishioner were just inside the church parish hall when the lightning struck. The parishioner said it felt as if they were lifted off the ground. The priest said he didn't quite remember that, as he was focused on the other guy's face, whose eyes were as big as saucers.

Of course, when Mass was ended, I just had to get a shot with my trusty android!

Eight years earlier!

I went searching through my archives for photos of these two trees. I know I have others, but I believe this is my earliest! It's not a shot taking in their height at that time, but looking at the roots and trunks, it's remarkable to see how much they've grown over the years.

Just prior to uploading this photo, I uploaded a shot of those two trees taken earlier in the week!

Just love how the branches go in and out of the hedge. It's a Sumac tree, if you are interested.

In the spring and early summer, this lovely tree produces clusters of lilac and purple flowers.

I just saw this and liked it, with the bare branches against the sky.

Our dogwoods have just been glorious .... On the way home from church Sunday, seemed like they were putting on their best view ... Monday, after coming home from the doctor, they were in full array, as well ... So with all that said , I decided to share a shot with you ...

I saw more Mistletoe than I think I've ever saw in the UK, or my time in France too.

There was loads of it in trees, that I saw while we were driving somewhere and masses in the trees down by the river. This looked so lovely in the sun too.

On our ascent we found diverse areas where the hot, advancing lava had burnt trees to their skeletons, like these ones. A very ghostly scenario!

I always thought that these were the flowers on a Monkey Puzzle tree, but they are the cones.

"The tree is more than first a seed, then a stem, then a living trunk, and then dead timber. The tree is a slow, enduring force straining to win the sky.”

― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Happy TREE-mendous Tuesday!

"Already I have shed the leaves of youth,

stripped by the wind of time down to the truth

of winter branches. Linear and alone

I stand, a lens for lives beyond my own,

a frame through which another's fire may glow,

a harp on which another's passion, blow."

Anne Morrow Lindbergh--Bare Tree

Happy TREE-mendous Tuesday

Gradually the damage from Storm Arwen is being tackled. Some trees have been left to rot, and enrich the undergrowth. Many were felled or chopped up for commercial use, and the remainder are slowly being chopped/logged for other uses. It is almost 4 years since over a million trees were destroyed locally, and we still see uprooted trees along the roadside or in the woodland areas. So this is a familiar sight when we walk the Fyvie lochside trail!

Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday! 😊
