52 Weeks 2013 - Week 45 - Light trails/ Handheld
I bent the rules slightly. Forgot my camera earlier and deadline is in half an hour so it had to be done indoors :)
Handheld HDR: two workflows compared. 1) Create HDR image and preform tone mapping in Photomatix; 2) Create HDR image in PhotoAcute and then perform tone mapping in Photomatix (plugin). First workflow gives noticeable artefacts.
Bridging artists and audience, 2-dimensional images with 3-dimensional silos and the Mississippi River’s east bank to its west bank, MURMUR is a participatory artwork that spans Minneapolis’ Stone Arch Bridge. On the east end of the bridge, audience members select photographic images for large-scale projection onto the Gold Medal Flour building on the opposite side. The projection site is visible from the computer station, and many other points in the city, as well as from anywhere along the Stone Arch Bridge.
In addition to selecting images, audience members toggle on the web site to view the selection queue in process, as well as regularly updated images of the projection site throughout the night. Since the web site is accessible with handheld mobile devices, participation can occur from anywhere along the Stone Arch Bridge, inviting even remote and offsite individuals to participate in this project.
MURMUR explores the tension of two banks in one city, separated by water, united by a bridge. “I am on this side” carries a background query, or murmur, of “What is on the other side?” The division of land and the observable but separate activity on the water combine with natural beauty and history to create a single illuminated moment in time.
