For my niece Sarah, the nursing student. Embroidered objects are from Sublime Stitching pattern, Medicine Cabinet.
Close up of stethoscope and bottom of IV stand.
Pictures taken by my niece (thank you)!
This was a test to see if I could make a crazy patchwork cushion from odds and ends of vintage hand embroidered fabrics.
It's not usually my style but I loved having a go.
Here is her new hair. I am wondering if I should fill it all in. It is so funny how the stitches change the whole feel of the fabric. The lips are like patch thickness now and stiff and the hair has become stiff too. I have to finish her necklace and her wine glass still.
I think she may be my favorite lady so far.
It took over 1 bundle of floss to do her hair and that is 3 strands. HUGE amounts of floss.
This ACEO (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) features a hand-embroidered blue elephant strolling along in a meadow...taking the time to enjoy the flowers along the way.
This orignally-designed card is made with acrylic felt.
Cotton embroidery floss is used for stitching the design to the front of the card. The blanket-stitch attaches the card to a felt backing.
This ACEO is a wonderful, sensory learning tool for children who love art. I am using another version of this card in an ABC/alphabet book for my daughter as she learns her alphabet and how to read.
ACEOs are the perfect size for little hands to play with and enjoy...especially those who love to experience art and learn through the sense of touch.
This ACEO is available in my shop. Please see my Flickr profile for the link to my shop.
measures 3 1/2" x 6", hand crocheted flowers and hand embroidered on both sides, wool lined, fleece inner lined
She is wearing gloves because I ran out of that particular color of yellow. I have mixed feelings about how I stitched this teacup lady up. I think the colors are a bit garish. Or maybe it's because I really liked the first version I stitched up of her.
Oh well, I am not ripping these stitches out so she will have to be the odd duck of the group.
Since I don't sew ( well) my mom makes all my bags for my items so I don't have to handstitch them all so I make gifts for her to give away. It is almost free advertising... I whipped up this and a matching diaper but am not fond of the font I chose sooo I shall know for next time. I do love the new SS patterns I used here "Cute Little Heads" check out www.sublimestitching.com

The flipside of Vona's pillowcase. Letters from Embroidery Pattern "Daisy Chain Sampler" by Rosy Little Things (rosylittlethings.com/daisychainsamplerpattern.html).
I altered the "Q" into an "O" because I preferred it over the "O" in the pattern, but otherwise, the pattern is intact (I think).
A couple of accidental pen marks are stubbornly not coming off no matter what I do - I may have to add some daisies there or something...
Handmade set of two coaster are fully hand embroidered with my flower bed design by using DMC embroidery threads on felt.

These wonderful hand embroidered towels/diaper rags/bibs were made for the baby from Sewsew-a-gogo and they look so cute in person. It was so nice of her to think of us!
Cornelia went out into the garden to pick some flowers that she would press and frame as a birthday gift for her dear sister Fanny, when suddenly she heard the hooves of a horse coming up the walk and a rider appeared clutching the morning post. Was he bearing a letter regarding the health of her sister or an invitation to a ball given by the handsome new neighbour of hers?

Nina went to preschool for the first time. It's a huge change for everybody, specially for her, and I wanted her to have something very special to go along with her, even when I'm not present. I decided to make her the backpack, even at the risk of not being able to compete with all those backpacks with tv cartoons out there (everyone who has 3 years old kids know what I mean). We both agreed that I would make her a very special backpack, and that she would have her favourite cartoons on other stuff, like her water bottle and lunch box. I got her involved on the design process, in order to catch her interest. Together, we decided it would have an hedgehog, that we both love, and she said she wanted it to be "under a tree's shadow". She chose pink (of course), and I took care of the rest, secretly. I imagined some kind of child's story scenario, in a forest full of flowers and nice animals, something that would give her some peace and fantasy. I played with colours and used a different shade for the side panel, and another for the zipper. For the lining, I used a cute fabric full of hearts ("look Nina, those are our hearts, from our family, who is always with you"). I hand stitched her name and then added this tiny detail, a wooden bird to help her pull the zipper. She loved it, and this mother's heart got a little lighter, knowing everything will be ok...
