This is a needlebook that is about 3" x 4" and is made from white felt. The cherry decoration is made from pink, red, green, and brown felt.
The entire needlebook is hand-embroidered using the blanket-stitch (with the exception of the stem which uses the straight stitch).
There are red and green sequins and tiny beads on top to add some sparkle to the needlebook.
This needlebook was sent to Linda for the "Red or Cherries: Make your Favorite Craft" Swap.

For my August journal quilt, I thought about some of the major activities and special memories of the month.
The ones that kept coming to my mind were the hummingbirds that have been visiting the feeder.
Every day the hummingbirds have been at the feeder in the backyard, and it seems like that’s been a daily topic of discussion and excitement.
So, for my quilt I looked on the internet for black and white images of hummingbirds; and found several that I liked.
I needed an image for a flower, and happened to see a free embroidery pattern on Flickr.
Taking these elements, I modified their sizes, printed the images, and cut them out. I arranged them onto a 9” x 12” piece of white fabric and then traced the image onto the fabric with a disappearing ink pen.
The entire design (the hummingbirds and flower) are all hand-embroidered using the back stitch, straight stitch, seed stitch, crown stitch, and French knots.
I machine-quilted the top, batting, and backing together and then wrapped around the backing to create a binding/border.
The colors and symbolism/meaning behind the quilt, and how they tie into various happenings and activities in August as well as a color copy of the journal quilt were sent to two partners on Swap-Bot.
This is the bottom half of the February journal quilt that I made. It represents different things and people that I love.
The hearts to the left have little clear beads in them - they represent my mom, dad, sister, brother, and me.
The 2 buttons with hand-embroidered stems represent flowers and nature.

I've started on the Slytherin ornament. The backing will be gray and I'll sandwich the cream colored middle between it and another gray piece. The thin edging is going to be harder then the borders on the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff because the details are smaller and in three colors. So far I've gotten the green "x" done and the back and front cut out. More to come!
This is my favourite part! I embroidered it while watching Around the World in 80 Days with Michael Palin.

Thanks so much for checking me out!
I made this case for myself, to carry my work outside. I used scraps of fabrics I particularly love: the rest of an aqua cotton I've painted for other projects, which I then decorated with a very simple and slow hand stitching; a green tie dye cotton that used to be a bag; scraps of my second collection, and, of course, some linen with its natural smell of plants that I love so much.
Looking at the selected fabrics as a whole, their colours and hues, the reflection of white on greens, something reminded me of places with water, lakes, ponds, reeds... Maybe because of that, without even noticing, I've chosen a piece of wood, from my collection of nature found objects, for the closure, and a cord I made with the wool that is left from this sweater. And while I was stitching the wood to the fabric, I felt like weaving... what ended up being my favourite detail in this case.
