Custom order based on personal sample. I made the beads from hand dyed merino wool and natural coopsworth wool. This piece I wanted to be extra bright and exuberant.

Itty Bitty pocket moleskine notebook - 2.5x4 inches (6.5x10.5 cm). So tiny and cute!

This work is the second in a series of "Remnants", which were all inspired by very old, heavily patched and stitched textiles, (such as certain types of boro and utilitarian quilts) and the old, worn and weathered rural structures that surround where I live.

This art piece is 100% hand embroidered with silk threads on silk base, please check the full size picture to see embroidery details, it's really amazing!

The silk used for the skin is very thin and much finer than a human hair, you only can see it is hand stitched when you check the embroidery very closely.

This is an ATC I did for a swap on Swap-Bot for the "Fabric Textile Sashiko Embroidery ATC" swap. The stitches are about 2/16" - 3/16" long; and the card is the standard ATC size of 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

I have been intrigued with sashiko, and have wanted to try it. To be honest, I think the pre-printed fabric would be A LOT easier than trying to use a ruler and white colored pencil to mark the lines on the fabric.

So, there wasn't another option except to create a pattern by hand using some of the traditional sashiko patterns that you can find on the internet.

This card was sent to Annet (on Swap-Bot) aka fatquarter (on Flickr).

So, what is sashiko? This is from Wikipedia: sashiko means "little stabs" and is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan.

Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches, this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery.

The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives sashiko its distinctive appearance, though decorative items sometimes use red thread.

2/11/2012 Update - FAIL - I've got the sayings out of order! It jas to be redone!!! ACK...

The top of Vona's pillowcase, as requested by her sister (it's to be a gift).

The quote (in case you don't know) is from the book/movie "The Help."

I figured the "You" parts should be in block letters, and the "I" parts more casual, almost as if handwritten. :)

These can be used as puppet or pencil toppers...depending on a child's mood. Each one is made using 100% wool felt. All the stitching is done by hand using the blanket-stitch or straight stitch (for facial features and center of flowers). Each puppet/pencil topper has a piece of antique lace around her middle.

You can also see here added silver jump rings attached with buttonhole stitch.

This ATC is for 'The Color Purple: ATC Swap" on Swap-Bot.

For those who like the sensory aspect of ATCs, there are 5 different fabrics - 1 satin, 1 flannel, and 3 cottons (the cottons each have a different print...but no difference in the way they feel).

There are 3 buttons. The satin fabric is bordered by a very soft purple yarn.

The rest of the pieces and the entire ATC is blanket-stitched with purple cotton floss.

This card was traded with mrsjessmarie (jessmarie on Swap-bot).
