This 'Antique' tablecloth was hand embroidered by my grandmother or possibly by her mother (my g grandmother) as part of her wedding trousseau. The fabric is percale.
The tablecloth is at least 150 years old. It was given to me by my aunt (grandmother's oldest child) on one of my visits to Sicily (in the 1970s).
I hope my granddaughter will someday appreciate the sentimental attachment that I have to my ancestors and hers.

Another new headband design using felt...of course it's felt!! I decided to try something new..I've always loved to look at appliques and wanted to create a small scene using felt so..the entire felted medallion is only 2 3/4" round..The birdie and leaves were quite a challenge as they are only about the size of a pea..maybe even smaller...
I have this great recycled felt made form plastic bottles and some has great embossed detailing on it..hence the brown piece for the tree..if you look closely you can see the design..There are about 5-6 layers of felt used here and I hand embroidered some detailing around the grass and leaves.
A pink polka dotted felt was used as the background or the tree..making their own pink apples..I added some glass pink beads for dimension..Blanket stitching was done around the perimeters of the felt discs..all sewn onto a stretchy cotton pink headband..

The crackers include a saltine cracker, mutli-grain puffs, and tortilla chips. They are made from 100% wool felt, cotton floss, and sheep-wool stuffing (from sheep I use to raise). They are hand-embroidered using the blanket-stitch.
These crackers were part of a meal for "Fake Food For Beginners ~ Your Speciality" on Swap-Bot. It was sent to Jeannie (sewfun4u). I also made a set of these crackers for my daughters for their play kitchen when they make meals and have tea parties.
Other felt food that is available can be found through the link on my Flickr profile.
I never imagined, when I bought this piece of leather, that I could use it in this way.
A fantastic, hand embroidered, leather bracelet.
The rose in the middle of the bracelet have five shades of pink and it's in between two little blue flowers.
It is cut in such a way that embraces the wrist.
The width of the bracelet is 8.5cm.
You can find it in my etsy shop!!
This was another of my favorites. Some of these dresses I have made are so hard to let go. I get attached to my vintage linens, so dumb, but some are truly beautiful especially once made into a dress.
A fragment of hand-dyed, vintage lace was applied to a hand-dyed linen background and embellished with hand embroidery and tiny silk flowers.
The gentleman has yet to realize that his hat has been blown off as he urges Concord the horse faster across the snow to the party that the couple is late for. Meanwhile, bundled up in the sleigh, the lady looks out at the deer (who is also late for a party) bounding across the snow.
In my Etsy.
Silk stumpwork, miniature hand embroidery set into a birch pin. From my new collection. See my blog for more!
This is a felt ninja star Christmas ornament. It is made of gray felt and is embroidered with green pine sprigs and red berries. It is 3-1/2" in diameter at its widest point. This was totally fun to make! I really got in touch with my geeky side for this one! :)
This donut is made from all-natural materials. The base of the donut is made with 100% wool felt that has been plant-dyed by hand. The frosting is made from 100% wool felt.
I hand-cut, blanket-stitched, and filled the donut with 100% clean, carded sheep wool. The wool came from sheep that I raised.
This piece is meant to provide a rich, sensory experience and intended to be enjoyed for many years by children.
They are great for imaginary play...in a play kitchen, pretend bakery, or a tea party.
Children who have low vision or are blind will enjoy the different textures of the wool and the toppings. (My daughter is legally blind in both eyes, and loves to play with toys with different textures.)
Please see the link on my Flickr profile for the link to my shop.
*~* This is one of the donuts that I make that was featured in the LIVING CRAFTS magazine (Winter 2008-09 issue) under the "Good Finds" section. *~*
This work is the 3rd in a series of "Remnants", which were all inspired by very old, heavily patched and stitched textiles, (such as certain types of boro and utilitarian quilts) and the old, worn and weathered rural structures that surround where I live.
Measures 11.25" x 6" at it's widest parts.
