This is not a pretty hand....matter of fact, it's not even a good picture.
This hand is weathered, scraped, and scarred. There is always dirt under it's nails. It is pushed to the max of its strength everyday. The wear and tear is apparent as most of its bones have been broken or fractured over 40 years. It has taken quite a beating through hard work and unfortunately a fist fight or two...or three...or....well, I'm sure you get the point.
There are, however, other sides to this hand. It has built things to make people happy. It has made food, music, and always warmly greets friends. This hand has also been used to encourage others with a pat on the back or to say hello to a stranger.
Most importantly this hand has been a comfort to and injured or upset child and to my wife which it carries everywhere it goes, everyday, in the form of its gold band.
It's a rough hand, but I'm not ashamed of the way it looks....I wouldn't have it any other way.
I was wearing a pair of winter gloves and tried a few pullups on my lunchtime walk. The knit of the gloves made a mark on my palms that lasted for hours.
Darn this eczema or whatever it turns out to be! Five year olds should not have hands that look like this.

A good advert for flickr with their pink and blue jackets. :<)

This is how shot my brain is on Sundays. I actually doodled on my hand. There's practically no one around, and it just exhausts me, because there's absolutely no social contact, not even online, since I can't use the net for fun.

Ottawan - Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)
Angel face, I love your smile,
Love your ways, I like your style.
What can I do to get closer to you?
Don't think twice or count to ten.
Don't take advice, don't ask me when.
Just come my way, simply kiss me and say:
Hands up, baby, hands up, ...
With your head up in the sky,
Every day you're walkin' by,
Why don't you have the stars looking at me?
Stop that game, don't waste your time,
For all your dreams are matchin' mine,
No use to play hide n seek for a week.
Hands up, baby, hands up, ........
This morning after Kyle took the dog out, I stood in front of the window and stretched as I watched him cross the parking lot with Molly. In mid stretch, with my arms reaching to the ceiling, I felt something at the base of my neck pop...in a bad way. Every few months, Kyle gets a muscle spasm that is so bad he has to call into work. It never fully goes away for at least a week. It's never happened to me, but low and behold, it did. Luckily, he got some painkillers and muscle relaxers when he went to the doctor about it, and they helped, although they made me loopy and sleepy all day long.
I was out last night for a dissappointing attempt to photograph the meteor showers but by the time I got back home clouds had started to roll in and I set out to take the sunrise. I discovered a new technique and shot my hand so I'd know where I started doing it, and with the fisheye it didn't cover up to much. Going through the photos and this just turned out differently than I would have imagined so I figured I'd upload it. The real images should be pretty awesome and I'll upload those when I get time to process them.
I cut the hand out of one image and composited on the HDR of the sunrise.
