bored & playing with my halogen lamp

33, 5 bucks each or 125 bucks for all 30: Philips Hollow Narrow Spot 45W, 2000 hours, 120 V, 2 inch diameter. Philips Halogen Mini-Narrow Spotlights provide a brighter, whiter light than standard 50 watt incandescent reflectors and save energy over the life of the bulb. Used in recessed cans, track lighting, and anywhere you desire a precise beam to dramatically accent your home’s décor.

This cat was in a back area of the Hagia Sophia and obviously knew how to keep warm. She (or he) was dozing while enjoying the heat and would rock forward and wake up but then go back to snoozing.

Removed front glass took it wide @ 17mm with my 17-40 f4L.

Large halogen headlights complement Mazda2’s distinctive grille for a mischievous front end.

Helping my dad fix the tumble dryer in his new kitchen whilst playing with the new halogen spot lamps, it makes a pretty nice pattern when it cools down when you turn them off, reached for my camera, tripod and shutter release cable to get a nice pin sharp shot, took a few as it cooled down.

The picture was taken by a Canon Powershot G7, and I made several shots with different sceneries as an attempt to see what the effect gives.

One of our more adventurous DIY projects. We demo'd the sagging wet plaster ceiling in the living room, retaining the coved ceiling by using a RotoZip spiral saw around the perimeter to get a clean cut through the plaster and lathe. Then we installed 10 small halogen recessed lights, drywall, two wall switches and two wall sconces--all in four weekends. Weekend one - demolish; weekend two - wire; weekend three - install drywall. We hired someone to do the mudding. Then the following weekend we painted.

This my mini halogen torch which lives in the kitchen drawer in case there is a black-out. With it I can find the lantern or candles.

strobist DIY light tent (with white tissue paper)

this is a krups coffee grinder from at least 2 decades past. i don't know why, but i just LOVE it. retro design, german engineering, nice, compact but heavy feel... so i followed some strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-s... in order to photograph it. i'm trying to learn lighting stuff (always found dealing with flashes to be a pain) and need to fix up the light tent, but it was fun.

after cleaning the plastic part, i had nothing left in me to clean the cord. would have helped the photo.

Almost finished this project. This is one of the walls in my basement office. 5 halogen potlights installed today. The brick is 100 year old bricked foundation that the house sits on and has not been altered by us in any way.

The plywood in the snap will be used to build a 2nd bulkhead to the right of this one. Despite Niffer and her pops spending an hour at Copp's Buildall for materials that Copp's ended up not having, I am crazy happy with how this wall has turned out so far.

The blue wrapping material converts the 24 watt halogen lite to daylite color temperature (3200 Kelvin).

I put this mini spot lite together as a fill lite for photographing models and other small items. The small edison screw lamp socket came from a disused lava lamp. Its cable clamp has a 3/8 inch thread. A 1/4 inch accessory stud mount was mated to it with a section of plastic packaging. The accessory stud mount is attached to a universal Manfrotto quick-mount shoe, which snaps handily onto the 785B tripod.

These are the three little halogen can lights we put in over the cooktop. Because the kitchen lights (nine can lights) are further into the room, someone at the cooktop casts a shadow over whatever's cooking. The single bulb in the hood is too dim to make much of a difference.

The fire extinguisher is more visible here, in the better light.

The backsplash is new; three custom black mirrors. They're the same as the black-mirror frame on the mirror over the fireplace.

(DSC_4499) the halogen lights of the M25 turn the sky orange above Runnymede after a day of heavy snow.... oh and the moon just peeps through those snow-laden clouds as well!

With the LEDs on in the dark, couldn't really get a good photo of how it looks. There are 18 yellow/orange LEDs and it makes a pretty good night light.
