Lighting - Two 500w halogen light (hot!!) behind a white bed bag and a 100w daylight balance bulb on the background. I had to do a manual WB for the mix lighting.
The flood lights (halogen?) gave an interesing glow and color to the entire area around United's Terminal B at O'Hare. I'm pretty sure I've seen this glow before having been on this flight (the second to the last Chicago-Hartford flight each day) well over 100 times over the past 20 years. I wasn't aware I'd picked up the plane window, oh well, I like the color anyway.
One of our quartz halogen projector work lights burned out - or more precisely, it got bumped, and the glass tube cracked. It snapped open at one end, and created an iridescent effect on the surface of the element. I'm assuming that as the air entered the crack in the tube, it reacted with the metal in the element, which was in the process of cooling off. So as the oxygen made its way down the tube it reacted with first with very hot metal, and then as it progressed, it met with cooler and cooler metal, creating a rainbow spectrum of colors, which then got jumbled up as the wound-up metal element broke free and unwound itself, bunching up in the middle.

After the experiments with pinhole photography I decided to try a comparison with a conventional 100-300mm lens with extension tubes.
This is almost the same setup as the previous shot of the unlit bulb, but capturing the dying glow as the bulb goes out.
Pretty good bread. Takes a wee bit longer than in a conventional oven. Energy cost is considerably less.

Had to rent a drywall lifter (yellow object at bottom) for the drywall. We used three 4x10 sheets and three 4x8 sheets. Those 2x4s that are nailed to the joists provide an extra "lip" for the edge of the next three drywall sheets to be screwed into.
One of our more adventurous DIY projects. We demo'd the sagging wet plaster ceiling in the living room, retaining the coved ceiling by using a RotoZip spiral saw around the perimeter to get a clean cut through the plaster and lathe. Then we installed 10 small halogen recessed lights, drywall, two wall switches and two wall sconces--all in four weekends. Weekend one - demolish; weekend two - wire; weekend three - install drywall. We hired someone to do the mudding. Then the following weekend we painted.
