It had snowed last Thursday and Friday without any wind. One of my favorite places to go in such conditions is the Garden of the Gods, a magnificent city park located not far from where we live. The rock formations with their sandstone red colors and the trees take on a magical appearance with a winter's blanket of snow and the right light. The clouds kept on into Saturday but broke nicely that afternoon. The snow had melted a bit, but still covered portions of the rock and trees. This shot was looking from the west into the Central Garden. I was hoping for a nice sunset but the clouds moved back in and, alas, there was no light show that evening. Oh well, next time!

Thanks for your views and comments!

I never had a close relationship with my father. He died in 2014.

One of my childhood memories is that we used to watch a documentary together every friday night. It was at a time when there were only 3 TV channels out there.. *smile* ... now you know that I must be quite old .. but TV already was in color *grins*

What's left is my love for documentaries bout nature, sience, travels ... and the fragrance of the vanilla tobacco of that pipe...

Location: Skrunda 3

Had to show some love to Jas , The Forge and MadPea! I love the post apocalyptic scenario, so a chain saw as a sword a shotgun and a necklace grenade fits perfectly together!

Had such close encounters with several bobcats last time in northern California...shortly after i took this shot this bobcat went to sleep just in front of me...

Had the chance this past weekend of photographing this magnificent Trakehner stallion.

Had some great photos taken at the pond Yesterday with another Lily blooming to compete with this Bulls Eye Lily.

After the Female laid her eggs she posed for me on the flower, she even let me put my palm under her and touching her wings.

I had a few variations of this shot but settled on this. I love writing words on paper. My Fountain Pen is a constant companion. I love pencils also but usually mechanical pencils with a soft 2B lead.

I have a great deal of quips, song lyrics and ideas all over the house.

Happy Macro Mondays

Had a chance for a few photos tonight, hoped the sunset would develop but a big bank of cloud came instead!

A bit disappointed to find that my sensor has not been cleaned when the camera was in for its repair!

This image was taken at the same time as the other one I posted today but thought I would show you a profile picture of him. Such great subjects and hard to stop shooting. Normally they are not out in the open this much and I took as many as I could before he left !!

Have a beautiful rest of your day and a very blessed one !!

A well marked and distinctive warbler, the sexes are dissimilar with the male with a black cap, and the female seen above with a chestnut cap, note also the pale eye ring. ONE of the few birds where I think the female is better looking than the male.

Seen at Strumpshaw Fen, my sincere thanks to the T.V personaltity, Naturalist Photographer, Elizabeth Dack, for all her help. This was a long weekend with family, on the Norfolk Broads, but had to slip away with my camera early, hope I was not missed....lol.

THANK YOU for your visit and comment, will try to catch up with your lastest image very soon. Hope the Bank holiday weekend went well, 30c in most southern UK spots.

Stay well and safe, God bless you !..................................Tomx.

Had to pop back for a few more shots. Will probably be the last time we see him, Hopefully he will make it back for another year.

Had to turn iso up today

We had glorious weather all day and so I decided to venture into London. On my return towards Waterloo statiion what did I spot on the river? The Royal Barge Gloriana :) I guess there might be some practice going on for her Majesty's 90th Birthday next week.

It had to be you

Why do I do, just as you say

Why must I just, give you your way

Why do I sigh, why don't I try to forget

It must have been,

That something lovers call fate

Kept me saying, "I have to wait"

I saw them all,

Just couldn't fall 'til we met

It had to be you, it had to be you

I wandered around, and finally found

The somebody who...

Had a close encounter with Luxemburgs finest on the way out of this old farm. Didn't had anything on me so they searched for something to serve and protect. 150 euro's for not having a safety vest in my car. Got to respect that! They were concerned about my safety of course :-) Also asked me about the telescopic ladder in the car, where i use it for. Uhhm, i don't know, it didn't come with a manual. 150 faves please!

I had to overcome my fear of being in a very dark wooded area to capture this shot, I was quite spooked but had to get a shot of this tree that I was happy with.

The shot was taken after midnight and this was probably the fifth picture on my stream from that night.

Had a brilliant time in Dorset a couple of weeks ago. This photo sums up the trip really, great fun, but had to work hard to get photos!

Got up for 'sunrise', headed to Durdle Door, only to find that access is now restricted and difficult to park anywhere near, except on certain days when it's open at night for photographers. Instead headed to Kimmeridge Bay, only to find the tide was way too high and the winds just too strong. So ended up in Swanage as the next nearest place to go. Normally planning goes better than this!

It's been done brilliantly by loads of other photographers, but here's my version. Taken a little while after sunrise. Some nice cloud movement so decided to go for long exposure.

Thanks for viewing.

Had my first opportunity this weekend to see and photograph this species. There were about six of them in this forested area in the snow. A lot larger bird than I envisioned. A very handsome bird.

Had to get out after the snowfall.

Thanks to all who comment or mark as a favorite it really is much appreciated,

We had arrived well before sunrise in the dark, which meant trying to find our compositions before we could gauge where the sun would rise, so I took a number of test shots, which as a RAW looked very dark, so I didn't bother with them...however, the gloom of a British Christmas means that I need to pass the long, dark evenings, so decided to have a look, and with a bit of fiddling these wonderful dawn colours emerged. The glow comes from reflected light from the pre-sunrise sky, adding these rather strange tones to the red rocks and the canyon floor a few thousand feet below. I hope the fiddling was worth it and it doesn't look too weird!

Had to stop and get some photos of this beautiful sunflower field near where i live, what a sight!!

I had posted my last shot at Sabula a day before I was heading out in that direction again, with the allure of finding some storms. Overnight, Bensenville had sent out the 7021 on 253 to Nahant, but, for some reason, was still in Savanna around 1300. A crew hopped on, right before the storms rolled in, and it was time to begin work.

Unbeknownst to me as well as many others, 253 had been annulled there, and the power had been assigned to K39 for Mason City. Here, they had just finished dropping the Nahant traffic on Main 2 east of West Savanna, and are crossing back over the river (for the third time) to begin work at the siding around CP Island/Lake.

The skies chose the best possible time to open up.

Had a very decent day today everyone, and am so so glad I ventured out in spite of what the weatherman said, besides it's always a great feeling being out and about.

Thank you all so very very much for visiting and it is always so very much appreciated.

Just had to post one more image of my favourite backlit sheep on Bodmin Moor, as the lighting approaching sunset was so good. In tighter for this shot, and she posed beautifully looking directly to camera....probably thinking, what is this idiot crawling towards me doing !!! Awful weather again in Cornwall today.

Had some fun making this photo with MushyMushy today. Thanks for posing with me Mushy.

We had a mooch about the other morning in our local area, as we had really heavy mist. We live in a pit village, so we often see some ‘interesting’ sights. That morning, some fairground trucks were parked up in an area of dilapidation. Made for some fascinating captures. A little bit different to ‘misty woodlands’ More captures of this series to follow.

Had a nice chase of the IT unit down the H-Line with GDM. Still plenty of N&W heritage signals left but they are slowly getting replaced.

had a busy day at work. My usual lunchtime photographic tour of the city center helped me unwind.

Had to have a play today. This is Crummock Water, electrified ! Now, let me think, what did I do? No, can't remember everything. But this involved Topaz Simplify, and a new bit of software I'm trying out before committing myself to a financial outlay, AKVIS Neon. Finished off in Picasa and then PicMonkey for the final touches. The starting photograph was really rather dull, but the sky was nice, I like the dead tree on the shore and the drystone wall, and this is the final result. Some of you will hate this, so .... apologies to you for neglecting you while I played :o)

The title is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, for those of you who are confused. Don't worry - I am confused most of the time !

I had a great time at Yellowstone in Winter. In the winter everything looks so much different and beautiful. I loved the shadows in snow along with bright white in the snow. I took this with my cell phone. The sky is blue and there is reflection in the water. Yes, I would go again. Spent 5 days out doing just photos. I can't wait to see what I got with my camera.

We had bright sunshine on this day, which seemed ideal to capture this fun metal spring. I like tiny springs. The Laowa 2:1 macro lens needs much light.

Our state governor has called for a mask mandate, but hospitals here continue to accept Covid patients from other states where masks and other cautionary measures are not required. Back to macro and avoiding the news.

Stay safe and healthy, whever you are.

Had a wee visitor to my garden the other day at the same time as a butterfly had landed on the bush in my garden. Had the decision whether to shoot the cat or butterfly and choose the butterfly which was sitting quite contently on the bush until a fly landed beside it and it flew off. Fortunately this beautiful wee cat was still there so I snapped it...

Had taken this shot a while back.

Got to the location only to notice the tide was heading out pretty fast, did not waist anytime and quickly captured this frame, the rocks have been put there by fishermen to trap fish in low tides, there is an opening for the fishing nets to be placed.

I seem to like the blue color cast so left it there.

Thanks for your comments and feedback. Have a great 2013

Had a stop at this well known waterfall on my way back home from Jotunheimen a couple of weeks back, and pulled out my wide angle lense for the first time in a long time! Had hoped for some more autumn colors, but apart from that the conditions were nice! Hope you like it and wish you a nice sunday evening!

Had a nice little hike to get up on this bluff for a better view. The wind nearly blew my hat and sunglasses off my head. It felt good to be here.

Had to go up to the hospital today for tests and the area turkeys were standing their ground. So I had to drive around on the grass. Then they came up to my car and started to peck at my hub cap. Getting to be a nuisance.

Had to do something outdoorsy to celebrate our national holiday. A hike up a local gorge to a waterfall seemed appropriate

I had one evening to spend in the town of Fort Bragg on the Northern California Coast. For a sunset location, I chose this wooden trestle bridge at the mouth of Pudding Creek. The original Pudding Creek Bridge was built in 1915 as part of a 10 mile railroad used to transport lumbar to town. I imagined that it would be really cool to have a steam locomotive speed by as I snapped this shot but it has been many years since the last train passed through.

Many thanks for taking the time to visit, comment or fave!

Had a great chance meeting with this beauty..my best ever fox experience.!

Had to add the classic bubble shot. I removed most of the golden light. Conditions were still with zero wind that day. I've taken so many of these guys this Spring. I'll jump to some more action shots later.

Had a day out in the Brecon Beacon's on Thursday, it was a fun but long day out travelling up from Plymouth. Here's one shot of Sgwd Yr Eira

Had missed the ferry the day before & this shot at dawn the following day helps tell that story.

Had a lovely day at Blacktoft Sands, when the reserve was showing at its best. Five of these spectacular birds were feeding in front of us

Had never been to Ike Kinswa State Park

before. Really beautiful there ♥

Had a thunderstorm pop up just south of Broken Arrow and it built up and moved north across us with wind and rain, a welcome break in the summer heat.
