This quilt was made for a Habitat for Humanity family. I designed the lion, Annabelle did the machine applique and cut the strips. I sewed it together and Catherine did the quilting.

AFGE leaders, activists and staff join the union's veterans committee to complete a Habitat for Humanity beautification project in Greater Memphis. The activity was a part of the union's week-long visit to Memphis to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Zebo Mirbozova teaches Tajik literature at the local high school. She and her husband, Muboraksho, have six children. Their house was damaged by an earthquake in 2006. They are now protecting it against winter, thanks to a loan from Habitat for Humanity Tajikistan.

Dosti Dustov and his wife, Oisha Dustova, have ten children. They used to get all of their water from a muddy, polluted irrigation canal near their house until they obtained a bio-sand water filter from Habitat for Humanity Tajikistan.
The Habitat for Humanity team had their work cut out for them over the weekend. As you'll see from the other picture, they did a fabulous job!
