This was taken the same day as one posted earlier [https://www.flickr.com/photos/43060509@N03/9720329344/]. A moth was struggling having fallen into the water. The irony had struck me then how very poignant the beauty and maths of the patterns of life when all is a struggle for surival. The circles grew desperately wider yet at the same time seemed to fix the centre... Found myself remembering that ancient song, the Windmills of your mind..
This is the version where it had only just fallen in and was in a dark blue patch of water...here it was the symmetry which caught me. As the other image shows it pushed itself into lighter green dappled shade before I lost it. Once again hand held 300m zoom at full stretch.

Main story

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

フォトショップで、光や色彩をバランスよく加工するセンスが要求されるのだから、そんな屁理屈は失笑です。

ちなみに、僕は今日の写真のようにオリジナルはできるかぎりありのままに、撮影しています。
光の量は強調したりしますけど。
光や色彩をバランスよく撮っていないと、フォトショップの編集の際も加工に耐えられないと僕は感じています。
なので、きょうの写真のように、『普通』が基準になっています。

Preparing for our Cheap Shots photo exhibit opening this Friday, I realized I'd never posted a description of the Brownie Hawkeye mod which I used to take all the photos I submitted to the show.
These cameras have a piece of flat glass as a protective cover on the outside; but the image is really formed by the lens behind the shutter. To reach that lens, you look inside the film gate, and unscrew the two phillips-head screws flanking the lens. The whole funnel-shaped film gate will come off as a unit. The lens is held in a recess at the front of this.
It may seem non-intuitive, but the original orientation is to have the concave side facing the front. The modification is to turn it around so the bulge outwards faces the front. Don't lose the ring of springy metal, it goes between the lens and the front of the camera. (This photo shows a 1960 BHF with a one-piece molded plastic lens. Earlier models will look a little different, but the idea is the same.)
After putting the camera back together, the distance of sharpest focus will be much closer (for mine it is about 2 feet, for some it's more like 5).
The reason to do this is to get photos that are fairly sharp in the center, but whose corners dissolve into a dreamlike blur. Since these BHFs are pretty easy to come by, it's a nice technique to experiement with if you haven't been lucky enough to find an affordable Diana...

Αν ο άνθρωπος αποτύχει να εκτιμήσει όσα του απονέμει ο Θεός,
ο Θεός, ο Δημιουργός, θα τα πάρει όλα πίσω.
Οι αποζημιώσεις του ανθρώπου θα είναι βαριές για όλα αυτά που ο Θεός έχει δώσει στον άνθρωπο.

Well... Im not sure its a dog running ahead. Im not sure in anything, because I DID NOT SEE any dogs or any subjects on that road ahead, it was empty when I was making this picture! Only when I've got the image on a screen, its appeared...:-)

Now well - I would love to share the inforamation I've got from the website "Misterious Britain & Ireland":
There are various theories to explain the phenomena and they seem to have many common traits from sighting to sighting.
In appearance the phantoms vary from region to region, but it is not uncommon for them to be described as calf sized, with saucer eyes and a shaggy coat. Phantom dogs are not always black however, the one that is supposed to haunt the area around Cawthorpe and Haugham in Lincolnshire, is described as white, but still has saucer eyes and is as big as calf. The Cu Sith, the traditional fairy dog of Scotland is dark green in colour, with a shaggy tail up its back. Black dogs are more often than not associated with a specific location such as an old trackway or lane, this is sometimes reflected in the name of the routeway, although not every 'Black Dog Lane' has a tradition of the haunting.
There have been some attempts at classification; the folklorist Theo Brown divided the black dog phenomena into three separate types A, B and C. (A) Being a shape-shifting demon dog; (B) being a dark black dog calf sized with shaggy fur; and (C) a dog that appears in time with certain ancient festivals in specific areas of the country. Katherine Briggs, the renowned folklorist, splits these further into demon dogs, the ghosts of human beings and the ghosts of dogs in their own right............
........Black dogs often seem to haunt ancient lanes, trackways, crossroads, old churchyards and prehistoric sites. Many of these places were associated with local superstitions and the uncanny, they are liminal places, where the veil between worlds was thought to be thin. The haunts of the black dogs are also features said to denote ley lines, it has been suggested that they represent some form of energy or natural phenomena moulded by the mind into an archetype of the black dog. A great deal of work has been done by earth mystery researchers to suggest that certain geophysical conditions may affect the human mind. These places were recognised by ancient man, and that is why black dogs (as some form of archetype) appear at places of ancient sanctity. This same theory has been applied to other unexplained phenomena.
Gallows sites (often crossroads) were also common black dog haunts, the black dog was often seen as the spirit of the executed criminal, such as the dog said to haunt a gallows site in Tring, Hertfordshire: An old woman was drowned for witchcraft at Tring in the year 1751. ..........

This image shows a quasar, a rapidly growing supermassive black hole, which is not achieving what astronomers would expect from it, as reported in our latest press release. Data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory (blue) and radio data from the NSF's Karl G. Jansky's Very Large Array (red) reveal some of the evidence for this quasar's disappointing impact on its host galaxy.
Known as H1821+643, this quasar is about 3.4 billion light-years from Earth. Quasars are a rare and extreme class of supermassive black holes that are furiously pulling material inwards, producing intense radiation and sometimes powerful jets. H1821+643 is the closest quasar to Earth in a cluster of galaxies.
Quasars are different than other supermassive black holes in the centers of galaxy clusters in that they are pulling in more material at a higher rate. Astronomers have found that non-quasar black holes growing at moderate rates influence their surroundings by preventing the intergalactic hot gas from cooling down too much. This regulates the growth of stars around the black hole.

Un giorno di marzo del 2006, dopo pranzo, verso le 13, fuori nevicava abbondantemente. Mio marito, mia figlia e io eravamo dentro casa, a scaldarci accanto al fuoco e a sgranare il granturco, quando improvvisamente sentimmo una voce dall’esterno gridare forte: “La vostra casa è in fiamme! Presto, venite fuori a spegnerle!” Corremmo fuori precipitosamente e vedemmo che il fuoco aveva già bruciato il tetto della cucina e del porcile. Tre non credenti ci aiutavano a combattere contro il fuoco e gridavano: “Venite ad aiutarci a spegnere l’incendio!” Due paesi vicini sentirono le nostre urla e subito trenta o quaranta persone vennero ad aiutarci a estinguere l’incendio. In quel momento, sentii qualcuno dire: “Questa famiglia non crede in Dio? Come è possibile che capiti loro un incendio? Ora che la loro casa è bruciata, vedremo se crederanno ancora in Dio”. In quel momento, non mi importava cosa stessero dicendo. Vedevo che l’incendio stava diventando più violento. Un forte vento spingeva le fiamme furiose direttamente verso la parte principale della nostra casa. Ero molto ansiosa in cuor mio, perché in casa c’erano i libri della Chiesa e i cereali della nostra famiglia. In quel momento di disperazione, potevo solo invocare continuamente Dio: “O Dio! Possa Tu custodire e proteggere i libri della Chiesa e i nostri cereali; non lasciarli bruciare!” Dopo che ebbi pregato, accadde un miracolo. Improvvisamente il vento cambiò direzione; solo allora diventai un po’ meno ansiosa in cuor mio, poiché sapevo che le cose all’interno della nostra casa erano tutte protette. Sentendo la gente che estingueva l’incendio parlare di quanto denaro valessero le cose bruciate, improvvisamente ci ricordammo che c’erano due maiali nel porcile. There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.
