With a leather black dress like this.. the age-old question is: "Should I wear black or red heels with it?" 😉
To settle this question, I put up a voting poll in my Instagram Stories.
43% liked the outfit with black heels.. but more importantly: 57% preferred the red heels. Can't say I was surprised but I still love the black heels myself. It just makes my legs look soooo long!!

It was a frosty morning along the Tuolumne River.
Photo taken with Nikon D600, Tokina 17-35 Pro FX F4 and Kenko Circular Polarizer. I took 9 images at one stop increments (RAW Format). To achieve this with the D600 I used auto-bracketing; it only takes 3 shot burst, so I set the 1st 3 at 3 stop increment, the 2nd 3 at 2 at stops, the 3rd 3 at 1 stop, to take a total of 9 images. I used a Nikon wireless shutter release to limit movement; I dropped it in the river that morning was lucky enough to snag it back out, shook it off and used it all day.
To achieve this dynamic range, color and effects: I use Lightroom 5.5 for workflow and final edit. I first used Photomatix Pro 4 to fuse all 9 images. Now using auto-bracketing I end up with 3 images with 0 stop adjustment because of the 3 shot burst. Photomatix will automatically adjust these to make all 9 images at whatever stop level you input, I set it for 1 stop increment. Once this is done I use Photmatix Fusion Preset to merge the 9 images together. It has many Presets, but this gives me the most natural effects. Once fused, I save in Tiff format to retain as much raw data as I can. I then use NIK Collection; Color Efex Pro 4. For this image I used its Pro Contrast adjustment; it improves the dynamic range and has one of the best Highlight and Shadow adjustments I’ve seen (even better than Lightroom’s). I do my final exposure, then tweak Clarity and Vibrance a bit in Lightroom 5.5 and save in jpg. My Logo (TI_in_Yosemite) is done in Gimp 2.8 and Layered onto the final image. TI_in_Yosemite stands for: Targeted Individual in Yosemite.

So I didn't plan to post so soon on Flickr again, but today is March the 14th, also known as Pi-day or π-Day.
As we all know, π is related to circles.. and a dot can be described as a circle. Hence, polka-dots are totally related to π!! Q.E.D.
Anyway, that's a very convoluted way of trying to tie this post to one of my favourite irrational (yes, I know π is also transcendental) numbers! 😉

October already.. it seems 2022 is on our doorstep and I haven't even fully processed 2020! 😮
I'm enjoying my autumn holiday now (one of the few perks I have as a teacher). And besides doing a lot of resting.. I have also been doing lots of editing of my photos and videos.
In August, I visited a castle in the south of the Netherlands. And because we had a very disappointing cold wet summer, I opted for a maxi dress.

It was quite magical walking around in that castle.. so beautiful!!
I know owning a castle like that is very expensive and not very practical.. but I'd love to dream. 😊

Had a fun day in Amsterdam on Sunday with Marleen .. cycling around on a rented bicycle, having drinks at various bars (including the Hilton Skylounge) and admiring Amsterdam in a different way. 😊
At the end of the day, it was getting really cold though.. and I wasn't really dressed for it. 😛 So we quickly went to a restaurant to have food.. and where I could take off the jacket for a pic of the dress. 😉
Next time, I need to film myself riding a bicycle wearing this outfit! 😛

Photographed from an altitude of 124 nautical miles, the coast of California can be seen from Point Mugu southward to Oceanside. Santa Catalina can be seen below the off shore clouds. Details of the Los Angeles area are obscured by pollution which extends from Banning westward for 100 miles to beyond Malibu. In the upper portion of the photograph can be seen (left to right) the San Joaquin Valley beyond Bakersfield, the Techachapi Mountains, the Sierra Nevada, Owens Valley, Death Valley and the Mojave Desert.
Apollo 7, which launched on Oct. 11, 1968, and was nicknamed "The Walt, Wally and Donn Show," was the first crewed Apollo mission to launch. The mission demonstrated the capabilities of the Command and Service Module, mission support facilities' performance during a crewed mission and Apollo rendezvous capability, as well as the first live TV broadcasts from space.

The Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) is a starling-sized passerine bird that breeds in the northern forests of Eurasia and North America. It has mainly buff-grey plumage, black face markings and a pointed crest. Its wings are patterned with white and bright yellow, and some feather tips have the red waxy appearance that give this species its English name. Females are similar to males, although young birds are less well-marked and have few or no waxy wingtips. Although the Bohemian Waxwing's range overlaps those of the Cedar and Japanese Waxwings, it is easily distinguished from them by size and plumage differences.
The breeding habitat is coniferous forests, usually near water. Many birds desert their nesting range in winter and migrate farther south. In some years, large numbers of Bohemian Waxwings irrupt well beyond their normal winter range in search of the fruit that makes up most of their diet.
Waxwings can be very tame in winter, entering towns and gardens in search of food, rowan berries being a particular favourite. They can metabolise alcohol produced in fermenting fruit, but can still become intoxicated, sometimes fatally. Other hazards include predation by birds of prey, infestation by parasites and collisions with cars or windows. The Bohemian Waxwing's high numbers and very large breeding area mean that it is classified as being of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. (wikipedia)

Astronomers using data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and other telescopes have put together a detailed map of a rare collision between four galaxy clusters. Eventually all four clusters — each with a mass of at least several hundred trillion times that of the Sun — will merge to form one of the most massive objects in the universe.
Galaxy clusters are the largest structures in the cosmos that are held together by gravity. Clusters consist of hundreds or even thousands of galaxies embedded in hot gas, and contain an even larger amount of invisible dark matter. Sometimes two galaxy clusters collide, as in the case of the Bullet Cluster, and occasionally more than two will collide at the same time.
The new observations show a mega-structure being assembled in a system called Abell 1758, located about 3 billion light-years from Earth. It contains two pairs of colliding galaxy clusters that are heading toward one another. Scientists first recognized Abell 1758 as a quadruple galaxy cluster system in 2004 using data from Chandra and XMM-Newton, a satellite operated by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Each pair in the system contains two galaxy clusters that are well on their way to merging. In the northern (top) pair seen in the composite image, the centers of each cluster have already passed by each other once, about 300 to 400 million years ago, and will eventually swing back around. The southern pair at the bottom of the image has two clusters that are close to approaching each other for the first time.

Ya que estamos buscando las huellas de Dios,
debemos buscar la voluntad de Dios,
buscar Sus palabras y Sus declaraciones,

Mientras buscabais Sus huellas,
ignorasteis las palabras “Dios es la verdad, el camino y la vida”.
Por lo que, cuando muchas personas reciben la verdad,
no creen que han encontrado las huellas de Dios,
y mucho menos reconocen la aparición de Dios.
¡Qué grave error es este!
Su aparición no se puede reconciliar con las concepciones del hombre,
y mucho menos aparecer por orden del hombre.
Cuando hace Su obra, Él toma Sus decisiones,
toma Sus decisiones y hace Sus propios planes;
además, Él tiene Sus propios objetivos,
Sus propios métodos, Sus propios métodos.
No es necesario que discuta con los hombres cuando Él hace Su obra,
que busque el consejo del hombre,
y mucho menos notificar a todo el mundo.
Ese es el carácter de Dios, todos lo deben de reconocer.
III
Si queréis ser testigos de la aparición de Dios,
si queréis seguir las huellas de Dios,
entonces debéis primero trascender vuestras opiniones.
No debéis demandar que Dios haga esto o aquello,
mucho menos debéis situarlo dentro de vuestros confines,
o limitarlo a vuestras opiniones.
En cambio, debéis preguntar
cómo debéis buscar las huellas de Dios,
y aceptar Su aparición,
y cómo os debéis someter a la nueva obra de Dios.
Eso es lo que el hombre debe hacer,
lo que el hombre debe hacer.
Ya que el hombre no es la verdad,
no está en posesión, en posesión de la verdad,
el hombre debe buscar, aceptar y obedecer.
Ya que el hombre no es la verdad,

Gran número de cristianos son encarcelados y torturados, y muchos forzados a dejar su hogar para esconderse sin poder volver. My write up on photographing the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas here
On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.
This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

Martin Mere Wetland Centre is home to over 100 species of rare and endangered ducks, geese, swans, flamingos and beavers. Follow WWTmartinmere updates on Twitter
Inquisitive Hawaiian Geese will nibble grain from the hand whilst you tour the world's wetlands through the
carefully planned pathways.
In contrast, watch, from the comfort and choice of ten lookout hides, internationally important numbers of ducks, geese and swans gathering in winter to form spectacular feeding flocks on seasonally flooded wetlands which enjoy SSSI (Site of Scientific Interest)/SPA (Special Protection Area) and Ramsar status.
With a diversity of waterfowl exhibits and an adventure playground for children to enjoy, Martin Mere is a first class, year-round, wetland wildlife attraction for families, couples, teenagers and the retired.

The gift shop stocks a wide range of wildlife books, outdoor clothing, bird feeders/boxes, postcards and stationary, children’s gifts and souvenirs of your visit to the centre, including a unique range of products featuring the artwork of WWT founder Sir Peter Scott.
There is also an in focus optics shop at the centre selling everything you will ever need to watch wildlife – from budget binoculars starting at around £15 to deluxe telescopes at over £1000. in focus is the ideal place to get honest, friendly advice about buying your first pair of binoculars.
Visitors are asked to respect the habitats and wildlife of Martin Mere Wetland Centre by keeping to the paths at all times and not causing undue noise. It is especially important to remain quiet in the bird viewing hides.
Photography is permitted on site providing it is for personal use only. All commercial/stock library photography must be agreed in advance with the centre and a photography permission form must be completed prior to the visit. Email: info.martinmere@wwt.org.uk to request the form.
No dogs are permitted on site, other than trained assistance dogs (i.e. Guide Dogs

It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the école de Honfleur (Honfleur school) which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement. The Sainte-Catherine church, which has a bell tower separate from the principal building, is the largest church made out of wood in France. The first written record of Honfleur is a reference by Richard III, Duke of Normandy, in 1027. By the middle of the 12th century, the city represented a significant transit point for goods from Rouen to England. Located on the estuary of one of the principal rivers of France with a safe harbour and relatively rich hinterland, Honfleur profited from its strategic position from the start of the Hundred Years' War. The town's defences were strengthened by Charles V in order to protect the estuary of the Seine from attacks from the English. This was supported by the nearby port of Harfleur. However, Honfleur was taken and occupied by the English in 1357 and from 1419 to 1450. When under French control, raiding parties often set out from the port to ransack the English coasts, including partially destroying the town of Sandwich, in Kent, England, in the 1450s. At the end of the Hundred Years' War, Honfleur benefited from the boom in maritime trade until the end of the 18th century. Trade was disturbed during the wars of religion in the 16th century. The port saw the departure of a number of explorers, in particular in 1503 of Binot Paulmierde Gonneville to the coasts of Brazil. In 1506, local man Jean Denis departed for Newfoundland island and the mouth of the Saint Lawrence. An expedition in 1608, organised by Samuel de Champlain, founded the city of Quebec in modern day Canada. After 1608, Honfleur thrived on trade with Canada, the West Indies, the African coasts and the Azores. As a result, the town became one of the five principal ports for the slave trade in France. During this time the rapid growth of the town saw the demolition of its fortifications on the orders of Colbert. The wars of the French revolution and the First Empire, and in particular the continental blockade, caused the ruin of Honfleur. It only partially recovered during the 19th century with the trading of wood from northern Europe. Trade was however limited by the silting up of the entrance to the port and development of the modern port at Le Havre. The port however still functions today. On August 25, 1944, Honfleur was liberated together by the British army - 19th Platoon of the 12th Devon's, 6th Air Landing Brigade, the Belgian army (Brigade Piron) on 25 August 1944.[1] and the Canadian army without any combat. en.normandie-tourisme.fr/articles/honfleur-278-2.html

Model: Santeri
Santeri is a very talented graphic designer & friend of mine. After pestering him a little, he agreed to model for me even if the idea I told him did sound weird so much appreciation. And much more appreciation for actually letting me do this to him in public without wipes later. But he has super bright eyes and that was the main thing I needed for the shoot (the shoot idea wasn't this - there will be another photo up soon).
We had our group meet up on Saturday which I think was a huge success. It was amazing meeting everyone who came and shooting all together. I only got behind the scenes from the day and no "artsy" pics but I did model for others which is always fun. There will be a video up soon of the event and photos from the day by others are dotted all over facebook and flickr so look out for those. Thank you to all who came and made our event so memorable.
