Για το 15ήμερο μέχρι να φτάσουμε συν Θεώ στο “Πάσχα του καλοκαιριού“ και να εορτάσουμε την κοίμηση της Υπεραγίας Θεοτόκου, ετοίμασα ένα αφιέρωμα με τίτλο “Παναγίες της Ελλάδος“ Ιερούς Ναούς,ξωκλήσια και Ιερές Μονές όπου τιμάται η Θεομήτωρ με τα προσωνύμια και τις παραδόσεις που κρύβονται πίσω από αυτά.

Παναγία η Χρυσαφίτισσα
Παναγία η Χρυσαφίτισσα, χτισμένη τον 17ο αι. στη θέση άλλου, παλαιότερου ναού, της Παναγίας της Οδηγήτριας. Μέσα εκεί είναι τοποθετημένη η ομώνυμη θαυματουργή εικόνα της Παναγίας, έργο πιθανώς του 15ου-16ου αιώνος.
Σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, βρισκόταν αρχικά στο χωριό Χρύσαφα της Λακωνίας. Στη Μονεμβασία έφτασε μόνη της με τρόπο θαυμαστό, στο σημείο που ιδρύθηκε αργότερα ο ναός και το μοναστήρι της Παναγίας Χρυσαφίτισσας.
Την εικόνα ανακάλυψε εκεί μια ηλικιωμένη γυναίκα, η οποία ειδοποίησε αμέσως τον επίσκοπο. Συγκεντρώθηκαν τότε όλοι οι χριστιανοί, την παρέλαβαν και τη λιτάνευσαν μέχρι τον μητροπολιτικό ναό, όπου και την τοποθέτησαν.
Την ίδια νύχτα η εικόνα εξαφανίστηκε. Επέστρεψε πάλι θαυματουργικά στον τόπο της ευρέσεως. Ύστερα απ’ αυτό οι κάτοικοι, ικανοποιώντας τη θέληση της Θεοτόκου, έχτισαν εκεί ναό και τοποθέτησαν μέσα σε αυτόν την εικόνα της.
Κάτω από τον ναό αναβλύζει πηγή, η μοναδική στη Μονεμβασία, που το θαυματουργό νερό της συντελεί στην απόκτηση τέκνων, και μάλιστα αγοριών.
Στο μεταξύ έμαθαν οι Χρυσαφίτες ότι η εικόνα βρίσκεται στη Μονεμβασία. Πήγαν λοιπόν και τη ζήτησαν από τον επίσκοπο και τους άρχοντες. Οι τελευταίοι αρνήθηκαν να τη δώσουν, οπότε οι Χρυσαφίτες κατέφυγαν στο δικαστήριο διεκδικώντας την εικόνα τους.
Κέρδισαν τη δίκη και επέστρεψαν ικανοποιημένοι στα Χρύσαφα, μεταφέροντας και την εικόνα της Παναγίας. Εκείνη όμως δεν έμεινε ικανοποιημένη από τη μεταφορά της στη Λακωνία. Γι’ αυτό επέστρεψε και πάλι στη Μονεμβασία, στο νεόδμητο ναό της, όπου επιτελούσε καθημερινά εξαίσια θαύματα. Αργότερα μάλιστα ιδρύθηκε εκεί και γυναικείο μοναστήρι.
Το όραμα της ηγουμένης. Παλαιό χειρόγραφο μας πληροφορεί για την ακόλουθη εμφάνιση της Παναγίας στη μονή της Χρυσαφίτισσας:
Ήταν Δεκαπενταύγουστος και η αδελφότητα αγρυπνούσε στην εκκλησία. Κάποια στιγμή η ενάρετη ηγουμένη Μάρθα είδε σε όραμα τη Θεοτόκο Μαρία. Ήταν καθισμένη σε θρόνο και κοίταζε την ηγουμένη με συμπάθεια και γλυκύτητα. Κι εκείνη έκλαιγε από τη χαρά της σε όλη τη διάρκεια της αγρυπνίας.
Προς το τέλος της δοξολογίας οι μοναχές άρχισαν να ψάλλουν με δυνατές φωνές. Τότε όμως η Παναγία εξαφανίστηκε.
– Αχ τι κάνατε! Φώναξε η γερόντισσα στενοχωρημένη.
Η αγρυπνία τελείωσε και οι μοναχές ρώτησαν με απορία την ηγουμένη τι της συνέβη.
– Στη διάρκεια της αγρυπνίας, αποκρίθηκε εκείνη, είχα την ξεχωριστή τιμή να βλέπω σε όραμα την Υπεραγία Θεοτόκο. Μόλις όμως στη δοξολογία δυναμώσατε τις φωνές, η Παναγία εξαφανίστηκε. Άλλη φορά λοιπόν να ψάλλετε ήσυχα, με ταπεινή φωνή και καρδιά συντετριμμένη. Μπροστά σε ένα θνητό βασιλιά καθένας στέκεται ταπεινός, προσεκτικός και φοβισμένος. Αν δεν κρατήσει τέτοια στάση, μπορεί να θυμώσει ο βασιλιάς και να τον διώξει. Καταλαβαίνετε τώρα πόσο προσεκτικές πρέπει να στεκόμαστε μπροστά στον ουράνιο Βασιλιά, για να μην Τον παρενοχλήσουμε και μας τιμωρήσει.
Τιμωρητική επέμβαση. Η Χρυσαφίτισσα εξακολουθούσε να θαυματουργεί. Δεν άργησε όμως ο ναός της να υποστεί τα δεινά του πολέμου.
Η επίκαιρη θέση της Μονεμβασίας, το ονομαστό εμπορικό ναυτικό και το φημισμένο κρασί της, ο πλούτος και η ακμή της προκαλούσαν τους εκάστοτε ισχυρούς, που την είχαν μετατρέψει σε θέατρο πολιτικών συγκρούσεων.
Δοκίμασε πολιορκίες, λεηλασίες και καταστροφές από πειρατές, Φράγκους, καταλανούς, τουρκαλβανούς και άλλους.
Σε κάποια τουρκική επιδρομή λεηλατήθηκε ο ναός της Χρυσαφίτισσας κι έγινε σιταποθήκη. Πλάι ακριβώς στον ιερό ναό της έμενε ένας τούρκος, που θέλησε να επεκτείνει τα σπίτι του. Χάλασε λοιπόν τα κι έχτισε λουτρό στο χώρο εκείνο. Η Παναγία τον τιμώρησε με το θάνατο όλων των παιδιών του.
Αλλά και όποιος τολμούσε να πάει εκεί για να λουστεί, έβλεπε μπροστά του μια γυναίκα να τον απειλεί. Όσοι επίσης τόλμησαν να ασεβήσουν μέσα ή έξω από τον ναό, έφυγαν τιμωρημένοι. Και δε θεραπεύονταν, αν δεν προσκαλούσαν ιερέα να διαβάσει Παράκληση στον ναό της Χρυσαφίτισσας. Γιατί η Παναγία θαυματουργούσε όχι μόνο σε χριστιανούς, αλλά και σε μουσουλμάνους.
Our Lady Chrysafitissa
Panagia Chrysafitissa, built in the 17th century. In the place of another, older temple, the Virgin of Odigitria. Inside there is the homonymous miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, probably a work of the 15th-16th century.
According to tradition, it was originally located in the village of Chrysafa, Laconia. Monemvasia arrived on its own in a miraculous way, at the site where the temple and the monastery of Panagia Chrysafitissa were founded later.
The picture revealed there an elderly woman who immediately alerted the bishop. All the Christians gathered then, took it and transported it to the metropolitan temple where they placed it.
That same night the picture disappeared. He returned again miraculously to the place of finding. After that the inhabitants, fulfilling the will of the Virgin Mary, built a temple there and placed in it its image.
Below the temple springs a spring, the only one in Monemvasia, where the miraculous water helps to bring children, even boys.
Meanwhile, the Chrissafites learned that the picture is in Monemvasia. So they went and asked the bishop and the rulers. The latter refused to give it, so the Chrisaites fled to the court claiming their image.
They won the trial and returned happily to Chrysafa, transferring the image of the Virgin Mary. But she was not satisfied with her transfer to Laconia. That is why he returned to Monemvasia, to his newly built temple, where he performed every day wonderful wonders. Later, a monastery was founded there.
The vision of the abbot. An old manuscript tells us about the following appearance of Our Lady at the monastery of Chrysaftissa:

Purgatory intervention. Chrysafitissa continued to be miraculous. But it did not take long to suffer the temple of war.
The current position of Monemvasia, the well-known merchant navy and its famous wine, its wealth and its acne provoked the powerful ones that had transformed it into a theater of political conflicts.
He tried sieges, looting and destruction by pirates, Franks, Catalans, Turkmen and others.
In a Turkish raid, the temple of Chrysaftissa was looted and became a barn. Right beside her holy temple was a Turk, who wanted to expand his home. So he laughed at the "occupied" and built a bath in that area. The Virgin Mary punished him with the death of all his children.
But whoever dared to go there for a bath, saw a woman threatening him in front of him. Those who also dared to observe inside or outside the temple, went away punished. And they were not healed if they did not invite a priest to read a Prayer to the Temple of Chrysaftissa. Because the Virgin was miraculous not only for Christians, but also for Muslims.

This is my entry for the Feeling Stitchy Rainbow Competition. I chose to design an embroidery in shades of orange, not only because orange is my favourite colour, but also because it would give me the opportunity to put Little Tiger into it! I based the Little Tiger you see here on a brooch that I made some time ago now. I also wanted to put in a representation of one of my favourite flowers, the California poppy. I love this flower for it's simple cupped shape, it's satiny petals and its beautiful bright golden orange colour which seems to glow in the sun. I think of them as "cups of sunshine"!
After I had sketched my design, I had to think about what fabric I'd use to embroider on. I decided that a plain background was a bit boring, so I hand tie-dyed a piece of calico to use, using Dylon "sunflower yellow" - hence the off-white circles of the background. The circles were created by gathering a bunch of fabric and tying a piece of string around it, so the dye doesn't reach the fabric under the string, and repeating this all over the fabric so make a pattern. I like this effect because for me, it makes me think of sun-drenched, relaxed summer festivals.
I chose to include lots of different types of stitches - and I used eight - because for me, that's what embroidery is all about! Showing the amazing variety of textures and shapes which can be created with just a needle, a bit of thread and some fabric. I love trying out new stitches, so I dived in (after a bit of practise first) and used long and short stitch (for the poppy petals) and ribbed spider's web (for the flower-like shapes in the "grass"). I also used straight stitch in a pattern I've never used before, shown to me by my good friend Claire (thanks Claire! bet you didn't expect that, did you! hahaha!) I also used stem stitch (the sun's rays), french knots (the sun and Little Tiger's eye "twinkles"), satin stitch (his eyes and nose), chain stitch worked in close rows as a filling stitch (Little Tiger's fur) and back stitch (the poppies' stems).
Apart from enjoying this challenge just for the embroidery, it taught me a few things. The main lesson was probably that I always underestimate how long a piece of work is going to take! I spent at least 50 hours on the embroidery part of this piece (excluding the time I spent in sketching the original design). I also learnt that you can do a lot with a very limited colour palette, and something that I am going to explore further.
Well, I enjoyed making this piece, but I hope you enjoy looking at it almost as much!

Io che mi imbarazzo per le altre donne nude nello spogliatoio e tengo gli occhi bassi, e arrossisco per loro appena incrocio gli occhi di Silvia che arrossisce per loro a sua volta.
Io, che spergiuravo di non fare topless se non agli antipodi, mi tolgo il pezzo sopra. A due passi da casa.
Poi mi rendo conto che, nell'insieme, più della nudità sono imbarazzanti certi due pezzi scoloriti dai troppi passaggi in lavatrice, le etichette che escono fuori dai boxer vicino all'inizio delle natiche, i residui di depilazioni sommarie, i costumetti sciatti e trasparenti. Il triangolo non abbronzato del mio perizoma alla fine della schiena sotto la coulotte a vita bassa.
Pago il mio personale tributo e per una mezz'ora faccio la nudista, compiacendomi per la capacità di adattamento ai fattori e alle circostanze, e mi beo dello stato edenico.
Poi, quando sbarcano due yankee in kayak, rigorosamente vestiti t-shirt+boxer, l'incantesimo si spezza e torno in due pezzi.

ENGLISH:
The Black Diamond (Danish: Den Sorte Diamant) is a modern waterfront extension to the Royal Danish Library's old building on Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Its quasi-official nickname is a reference to its polished black granite cladding and irregular angles. Designed by Danish architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen, the Black Diamond was completed in 1999 as the first in a series of large-scale cultural buildings along Copenhagen's waterfront.
Apart from its function as a library, the building houses a number of other public facilities and activities, most of which are located around the central, toplit atrium which cuts into the building with a huge glazed front facing the harbour. The facilities include a 600-seat auditorium, the Queen's Hall, used for concerts—mainly chamber music and jazz—literary events, theatrical performances and conferences. There are also exhibition spaces, a bookshop, a restaurant, a café and a roof terrace. Two museums are based in the Black Diamond, the National Museum of Photography and a small museum dedicated to cartoon art.

Está formado por dos cubos negros, ligeramente inclinados sobre la calle y, entre ambos, un atrio de ocho plantas cuyas paredes son de color blanco y en forma de onda, con un par de corredores transversales que unen ambos lados, y balcones en todas las plantas. La fachada exterior del atrio es de cristal, así que se puede ver el mar y, en la otra orilla, los edificios de lujo de Christianshavn. Hi-School Romance was a teen romance comic that ran from 1949 to 1958. The years following World War II saw the rise of dating as we know it today, with teenagers being given a great deal of freedom to meet each other without constant adult supervision. This is a true product of that time, full of malt shops, sock hops and double-dates. In it, starry-eyed schoolgirls do their best to win the man of their dreams. To accomplish this, however, there was always some obstacle to overcome, whether it meant fighting off a rival or merely learning how to play the game of love better.
What may be most remarkable about this series is noting how much has changed between men and women in the last few decades—as well as how much has stayed the same.

" Harvey Comics published five romance comics series in the industry's pre-Comics Code years that had long runs. Covers were line-drawn and Michelle Nolan, author of Love on the Racks, explains that Harvey Comics "tried to provide thematic distinction—First Love and First Romance, Hi-School Romance, True Love Problems and Advice, and True Brides' Experiences (plus a couple of variations of that title)."
Following the imposition of the Comics Code in the early 1950s, Harvey dropped some of their adult titles and concentrated on various children's series such as Richie Rich and Caspar the Friendly Ghost. The company did however continue to publish their five romance titles..."
