UNS Cherkasy (M311), a Sandown-class minehunter operated by the Ukrainian Navy, passing Greenock on the Firth of Clyde. The vessel is participating in Exercise Sea Breeze 23-1 (named Alba Breeze in recognition of the temporary host nation), a multi-national military exercise being held this year in Scotland, instead of the usual host nation of Ukraine.
This vessel had served with the UK's Royal Navy as HMS Shoreham (M112), until she was decommissioned in 2022, then transferred to the Ukrainian Navy earlier this year. This is her first naval exercise in the hands of her new owners.

The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Egyptologists believe that the pyramid was built as a tomb for fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops in Greek) over a 10 to 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC. Initially at 146.5 metres (481 feet), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. Originally, the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface; what is seen today is the underlying core structure. Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. There have been varying scientific and alternative theories about the Great Pyramid's construction techniques. Most accepted construction hypotheses are based on the idea that it was built by moving huge stones from a quarry and dragging and lifting them into place.
There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest chamber is cut into the bedrock upon which the pyramid was built and was unfinished. The so-called[1] Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber are higher up within the pyramid structure. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only pyramid in Egypt known to contain both ascending and descending passages. The main part of the Giza complex is a setting of buildings that included two mortuary temples in honor of Khufu (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite" pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples, and small mastaba tombs surrounding the pyramid for nobles.
Modern Entrance
Today tourists enter the Great Pyramid via the Robbers' Tunnel dug by workmen employed by Caliph al-Ma'mun around AD 820. The tunnel is cut straight through the masonry of the pyramid for approximately 27 metres (89 ft), then turns sharply left to encounter the blocking stones in the Ascending Passage. Unable to remove these stones, the workmen tunnelled up beside them through the softer limestone of the Pyramid until they reached the Ascending Passage. It is possible to enter the Descending Passage from this point, but access is usually forbidden. (Wikipedia)

La città di Alba in questi giorni è più bella che mai ... tutta imbandierata, tutti i negozi sono addobbati a festa e le vetrine molto " Nutellose " Approfitto per fare i miei più sinceri complimenti a tutti gli esercenti per la loro fantasia e creatività
Tutto è ormai pronto per celebrare i 50 anni della Nutella
La Nutella è un Grande successo, un successo Albese ed Italiano nel mondo.
Siamo felici ed orgogliosissimi di festeggiare questo evento insieme a tutta la città, vi aspettiamo numerosi

" Nutella" è prodotta in undici stabilimenti nel mondo, con maestranze di 97 nazionalità ed è venduta in oltre cento Paesi.

Vladimir Makovsky was born in Moscow in 1846. His father was one of the founders of Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. There was always a creative atmosphere in the family of the future artist: painters, musicians and actors were frequent guests there. Makovsky demonstrated his talents in arts in his early years. His first teacher of painting was the famous Russian portrait painter Vasily Tropinin. In 1861, Makovsky became a student of Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. Soon he became a member of the Itinerants partnership, which promoted realistic depiction of the life of ordinary people. Genre paintings by Makovsky are the most typical pieces of art of this partnership.
Vladimir Makovsky, who was proficient in genre painting, created it in 1905-1906. Before the 1917 Revolution, the author’s friends – Shikhobalov family, merchants and patrons of arts from Samara – were the owners. The artist often took topics for his work from real life, and this is true about Two Mothers as well. Vladimir Makovsky referred to similar story that happened in the family of an artist he knew.
Vladimir Makovsky said: “The painting is not a word, it gives you one minute, and everything should be clear within this minute. If this is not so, there is no painting”. In Makovsky’s painting, the future destiny of a little boy is being shaped. His natural mother after giving birth left her son in an orphanage, and a well-to-do family took the boy and raised him. The foster parents adopted the baby with great warmth and lavished attention and care on him.
The painting depicts the visit of an unknown woman, who happens to be the natural mother of the boy disturbing the family idyll. The unexpected guest bursts into the room interrupting the family breakfast. Her clothes tell us about her peasant origin. This woman is wearing a dark homespun skirt with a brindled apron showing from beneath. A bright red kerchief is covering her head. This peasant woman is holding a small canvas sack in her left hand.
In a masterly fashion, Vladimir Makovsky conveyed the appalment and fear of the little boy sheepishly clinging to his foster mother, who has already become his family. The woman appearing in the house is just a stranger for him. The only person who is keeping calm is the head of the family. Contrary to his wife and foster son, he is sure that the natural mother will not succeed in taking the boy away. His firmness is contrasting to the tension predominating in the painting.

Владимир Маковский мастерски изобразил смятение и страх мальчика, который робко прижался к своей приёмной, но ставшей для него уже родной матери. Появившаяся в доме женщина для ребенка — просто чужой человек. Спокоен остался только глава семейства. A partir de ese periodo, y como consecuencia de los continuos ataques de los piratas japoneses, Hangzhou perdió importancia. En 1555 la ciudad fue saqueada por los piratas. En 1861 sufrió el ataque de los rebeldes del Reino Celestial de los Taiping que tomaron y saquearon la ciudad. Hangzhou no fue recuperada por las tropas imperiales hasta 1863. Este conflicto entre rebeldes y tropas imperiales causó más de medio millón de bajas entre la población.
Las industrias tradicionales de Hangzhou son la de la seda, maquinaria y textil pero la industria electrónica se ha desarrollado con rapidez en la zona, sobre todo después del cambio en el sistema económico del país ocurrido en 1992. Yuan China was very open to foreign visitors, and several returned west describing Hangzhou—under the names Khinzai, Campsay, etc. - as one of the foremost cities in the world. The Venetian merchant Marco Polo supposedly visited Hangzhou in the late 13th century. In his book, he records that the city was "greater than any in the world" and that "the number and wealth of the merchants, and the amount of goods that passed through their hands, was so enormous that no man could form a just estimate thereof." Polo's account greatly exaggerates the city's size, although it has been argued that the "hundred miles" of walls would be plausible if Chinese miles were intended instead of Italian ones and that the "12,000 stone bridges" might have been a copyist error born from the city's 12 gates. In the 14th century, the Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta arrived; his later account concurred that al-Khansā was "the biggest city I have ever seen on the face of the earth." He visited Hangzhou in 1345 and noted its charm and described how the city sat on a beautiful lake and was surrounded by gentle green hills. He was particularly impressed by the large number of well-crafted and well-painted Chinese wooden ships with colored sails and silk awnings in the canals. He attended a banquet held by Qurtai, the Yuan Mongol administrator of the city, who according to Ibn Battuta, was fond of the skills of local Chinese conjurers.

I took the dive and bought a Nikon D600. While waiting for it to arrive; I received an email from a friend of mine, that sent this letter to the US Post Master General. This friend is also a Targeted Individual and a US Army Veteran. I continued to wait for my camera, I kept checking the tracking number for updates, but there were no updates for a whole week. Six days after being shipped and no updated tracking info. Once my camera arrived I took a few of my older lenses, an m42 adapter to the Post Office and this is one that symbolizes many things. When I do have a package or mail to be picked up from my PO Box; one of the local simpletons involved in Community Bases Stalking will be inside waiting, or enter and slam one of the trash containers. These trash containers are heavy metal, bear proof, have very heavy lids on hinges and make a loud slamming noise if someone lets them fall close (this happened again today). The Post Office has a very high ceiling that enhances this. Also, when I have a pickup slip in my box; I will have perps in line stalling. Incidents like these are everyday occurrences for Targeted Individuals. I asked my friend if I could attach his email to this picture and have included it:
My name is Todd Sterling. I live in Lima, Ohio and have been a prior service member. Over the past two years I have become aware of a criminal organization known as organized stalking. Organized stalking is a organized group of citizens empowered by government surveillance technology whose main purpose is to attack a target psychologically and physically. A target is a chosen member of society for any number of socio economic reasons. In some cases a target is placed on the list simply because someone paid to have them placed on the list. This tactic is not new it was discovered that our government was using this weapon against our own people in the 60's. It was dubbed the cointelpro movement and was outlawed by congress. Sadly however it was not dismantled but hidden and redesigned with the progression of technology and cointelpro has now become a domestic terror operation the likes of which have not been seen since Adolf Hitler which is exactly where the program was stolen from. The tactics vary from psychological manipulative attacks to physical home intrusions and property damage that is designed to be carried out over the course of years until the target breaks. One such tactic that we are increasingly becoming aware of is the tampering and interference of a targets mail. We have countless complaints of mail never arriving or arriving days or weeks later. I myself have been a victim of this several times. Although hard to prove, recently we started selling products on line to assist targets families in defense of this hellish nightmare on earth. We sell video cameras, cameras specifically designed to operate inside a targets moving car to gather evidence of organized vehicular stalking while the target is in transit. We went to great pains to video tape the testing and packing and operation of a dual lens car camera to a customer in N Carolina. We paid for priority mail and tracked the package. Something that only should have taken two business days took 6 days to arrive. This is typical of a planned intrusion attempt by infiltrators of the postal system. The package or envelope is rerouted on a delayed route allowing persons unknown to access the package at a variety of locations throughout the US no matter where the target is located so that the item can physically be damaged. I have incidents where utility bills are opened and photocopied we suspect so that the attackers can gain access to the utility holders account information. This is just one example of mail arriving with evidence of it being opened. We suspect that these activities are known to many in the Postal service due to the Patriot Act and permits tampering under terrorism suspicions. Americans are getting tired of being accused of terrorism and having their lives invaded illegally by false allegations permitting people to interfere with our personal lives on a scale not seen since the rise of Adolf Hitler. For this reason, my foundation is conducting an investigation into this complaint and if the camera arrives back in our hands and we investigate it and it is inoperable we will be filing a sf-95 against the US Postal service and suing you in federal court. The number of victims that complain about this act is in the thousands and were tired of being ignored because people in positions of authority simply do not believe us. Something MUST be done to protect our rights and we are going to do everything in our power legally to see this begins to happen. I deeply apologize for the tone of this letter but this foundation was started to begin to defend the rights of these victims and to get our leaders to stand up for us. Simply because a scenario is hard to believe is no reason for it not to be believed. We are giving you a chance to investigate and apprehend those involved in this scenario. Canada is home to the largest Ukrainian heritage population outside of Europe. There has been an annual weekend-long Ukrainian festival in Toronto for decades. Following two years of hiatus due to Covid, the much anticipated Ukrainian Festival is back in 2022. The theme this year no doubt is to celebrate Ukrainian culture and to drum up support to defeat the Russian invasion.
This year’s festival poster thanks the ally nations that have lent support to Ukraine. It features a large sunflower with the national colours of Ukraine at the centre, formed by many smaller sunflowers with the national flags replacing where the disc florets usually are.

This summer I went through some kind of hell that I am still unable to be open about, and everyone here was so understanding. I want to thank you all. Things are not back to normal, but we are our of crisis mode. Taking photos and sharing them with my friends on Flickr is one of the things that's helped keep my head above water.
Four of you wrote me really lovely Flickr testimonials during this time, and I was so overwhelmed, I didn't even notice at first and once I did notice, although each testimonial brought me some much-appreciated sunshine, I never gave proper thank you's.
So I am sorry this took me so long, but on Saturday, when I saw this heart, I immediately thought of the love I wanted to show Anya, Gudrun, Aia, and Holly for their testimonials. I encourage everyone to visit their streams. They live in four different countries, but they all share an expressiveness in their photography that never fails to touch me. They all have many facets to their creativity. I will limit myself here to writing just a few of the things I love about each of them.
Anya's self-portraits are what drew me into her stream. There are so many things I love about them, but one is her use of space, using herself as part of a landscape. Anya is a woman of few words, but she doesn't need them -- her photos tell stories. There is calmness and love in Anya's photos that always soothes me.
Gudrun, is a designer, and it shows in her photography. Her composition, colors, crisp white backgrounds, and creative use of a wide angle lens and interesting perspectives are what jump out at me. She is a wonderful photographer, but I also get the sense that everything she touches takes on her beautiful sense of design. Her son, Torfi, is one of the most adorable children you will ever see -- he makes a great model.
I have known Aia for a long time now -- on another photography forum before I started taking flickr seriously (and that was nearly a year ago), and I feel like we've grown together. I've watched her progress in her gear and her skills, and I've always loved the way she shows quiet emotion in all her photos. Nowadays, she shoots almost entirely with film, and it's a joy to see what comes out of that camera.
Following Holly's stream is like reading the ongoing autobiography of a fascinating woman. Whether she's in the wilderness of South Africa or cruising her own neighborhood in Philadelphia, she takes photos with a journalistic flair. It is as fun to read what she writes about her photos as to see the photos themselves. She writes about the world around her and about her inner soul and always inspires me.

There is a reason the phrase "shooting in the dark" refers to things that are difficult to do -- and night photography is no exception. To account for low-light image scenarios, a photographer needs a steady tripod, but aboard the International Space Station, a traditional tripod isn't going to cut it. Thankfully, the European Space Agency, or ESA, developed NightPod for the crew's cameras.
This astronaut photograph of Liège, Belgium, at night was taken using the NightPod camera mount aboard the space station. The mechanism allows astronauts to capture images of the Earth at night with greater clarity and control than previously possible from orbit.
"The challenges of low-light photography from orbit -- for example, the likelihood of blurry images because of the ground motion -- have always frustrated astronauts," said Cynthia Evans, International Space Station associate program scientist for Earth Observations. "Over the years, astronauts have experimented with different solutions, including high-speed films and manual tracking to compensate for the ground motion. The NightPod camera mount allows the crew to successfully track the Earth using low-light camera settings."
NightPod incorporates a nodding mechanism, which is an electro-mechanical mount system for digital cameras designed to compensate for the motion of the station relative to the Earth. This high-tech, motorized tripod can compensate for the more than 17,000 mph (27,000 kph) speed of the station and the motion of the Earth below—no easy feat!
The crew enters the station's orbit and attitude into NightPod, enabling the instrument to automatically track a specific location on the ground and keep the target in frame for optimal focus. Since the system can be set to run automated for up to six hours, the crew can literally take pictures in their sleep.
To get an idea of just how clear images using NightPod are, look at how detailed the brightly lit core of the Liège urban area appears. It lies at the center of a network of roadways -- traceable by continuous orange lighting extending out into the rural and relatively dark Belgian countryside. For a sense of scale, the distance from image left to right is approximately 43 miles (70 kilometers). The region to the southeast of Verviers includes agricultural fields and forest; hence, it appears almost uniformly dark at night.
The image of Liège was acquired on Dec. 8, 2012, with a Nikon D3S digital camera using a 180 millimeter lens and the NightPod, and is provided by CEO investigators and the Image Science and Analysis Laboratory at Johnson Space Center. The image was taken by the Expedition 34 crew. It was cropped and enhanced to improve contrast, and lens artifacts were removed.
Installation of NightPod was completed on Feb. 24, 2012, by astronaut André Kuipers, and some of the earliest images appear in this ESA story. The primary goal of NightPod is to take high-resolution, long-exposure digital imagery of the planet from the station's Cupola, particularly cities at night. Other scenarios of interest include evening observations of brush fires, visual analysis of maritime and road traffic, volcano activity, urban pollution, squid fishing and day/night transitions.
"Nighttime imagery from orbit provides an instant understanding about humanity's footprint on the Earth's surface," Evans said.
While the official NightPod mission is done, the mechanism remains on station for astronauts to use as part of the Crew Earth Observations, or CEO, investigation. For CEO, the astronauts photograph natural and human-made events on Earth from the orbiting lab. The images record the ground's surface changes over time, atmospheric phenomena like aurora and polar mesospheric clouds, and dynamic happenings such as storms, floods, fires and volcanic eruptions. Together with automated remote sensing systems on the space station, handheld camera imagery provides researchers with data to understand the planet from an orbital perspective.
The International Space Station Program supports the imaging laboratory as part of the U.S. National Lab to help astronauts take pictures of Earth that will be of the greatest value to scientists and the public, and to make those photographs freely available on the Internet. Well, I did take a long break off from Flickr. I've had some downtime over the past few months. Had Surgery, and it was bad and required. I have been on the mend.
Wanting to be physically healthy enough for the 2018 storm chasing season, I have recovered healthier than I have been in the past 10 years.
So something came over me just recently, as winter is now chaining over to spring here in Nebraska. I've had an itch to get out and do some photography.
So with not a cloud in the sky, lol, I decided to blow the dust of the camera case and catch this sunset. It had been cloudy for the past few days. That deep spring grey gloom. Cold winds etc. The sun finally peaked out @ sunset, and I couldn't resist the ambient light.
So your seeing something rare from me. I vary rarely post pure sunset images. I wanted to have a warm up before my first storm chase in 2018, which is just days away.

Некоторое время назад в связи с моей работой церковь направила меня жить в принимающей семье. Когда я впервые общался с братом и сестрой в этой семье, они сказали: «Мы больше всего боимся молиться во время общения. Мы знаем, что говорить, когда молимся самостоятельно, но когда дело доходит до молитвы на собрании, мы просто не знаем, что сказать». Услышав это, я подумал: «Если мы не будем молиться во время общения, мы не сможем принять работу Святого Духа, и наше общение будет неэффективным. Нам необходимо молиться!» Но затем я передумал, полагая, что если они действительно боятся молиться, то не создастся ли у них обо мне неблагоприятное мнение, если я буду настаивать на их молитве? Чтобы выполнить свои обязанности по редактированию статей, мне необходимо было прожить в принимающей семье долгое время. Что если они составят обо мне превратное мнение и не захотят принимать меня, потому что я не прислушиваюсь к их пожеланиям? Думаю, мне следует просто согласиться с их пожеланиями. Поэтому в течение следующего месяца мы никогда не молились во время общения. Из-за этого беседы о Божьих словах стали скучными и вялыми, в них абсолютно отсутствовало просвещение Святого Духа. Мы также часто отклонялись от темы. Постепенно состояние брата и сестры перестало быть нормальным, они уже не особо хотели беседовать. Даже когда у нас было общение, они постоянно впадали в дремоту, а в повседневной жизни не уделяли внимания питанию Божьим словом. Они смотрели телевизор, когда у них было свободное время, они уже не были так радушны со мной, иногда даже не хотели разговаривать. Столкнувшись с этим, я почувствовал боль и смятение: я прислушался к их пожеланиям во всем, я не обижал их. Почему они так себя ведут?
И когда я был совсем озадачен такой ситуацией, Божьи слова просветили меня: «Если у тебя нет правильных отношений с Богом, то независимо от того, что ты будешь делать для поддержания своих отношений с другими людьми, независимо от того, насколько усердно ты будешь работать или сколько усилий вы к этому приложишь, это по-прежнему будет иметь отношение к человеческой жизненной философии. Ты сохраняешь свою позицию среди людей, задействовав человеческую точку зрения и человеческую философию, дабы они восхваляли тебя. Ты не устанавливаешь правильные отношения с людьми на основании Божьего Слова. Если ты не сосредотачиваешься на своих отношениях с людьми, но поддерживаешь правильные отношения с Богом, если ты готов отдать свое сердце Богу и научиться быть Ему послушным, вполне естественно, что твои отношения с людьми тоже станут правильными… Правильные отношения между людьми устанавливаются на основе того, что сердце человека отдано Богу; это не достигается с помощью человеческих усилий» («Очень важно установить правильные отношения с Богом» в книге «Слово является во плоти»).……
