Always good storm chasing stories to tell about my weather adventures in 2014.
Days right after my knee replacement... Home from the hospital & I definitely wasn't supposed to be out and about. Knee was almost in a cast and I wasn't supposed to be doing anything to aggravate the situation. Though my quest for severe weather never ends and I wasn't going to miss another possible chase especially when its in my backyard. This storm was going to be a photogenic monster... Decision was made & off I went.
Back @ home. I waddle out to the front driveway & look due east. There are always thunderheads with storms. If your lucky enough to witness one that are simply jaw dropping your indeed lucky. Today was that day.

Personal Note *** On the original set Back in 2014 I had use the free Avery photo editor here Flickr and it wasn't the best but I had no prior knowledge of editing them back then. Only shot in .jpg format and I didn't do the best by over coloring and over saturation. Was very under experienced in photo editing back then.
Another epic set of thunderstorm captures from South Central Nebraska remastered through Lightroom and Photoshop. Though I paid for it with my knee just being replaced. I was super sore and the swelling was unreal a few days after this event. All worth it when it comes to what epic views I caught storm chasing on that particular day!

Humid and the mosquitoes were eating me alive...
I wouldn't have to chase this evening to catch some incredible Nebraska views of this supercell that formed just to the north of Hastings Nebraska. The perfect sunlight cresting against this storm cell was perfect in every way. I knew I was in for a treat. Just a few blocks from home I set up shop!
We had a dying cell to our west creating a beautiful sunset and I would eventually get a few snaps of this. Though was pointing due east from my location on the outskirts of Kearney Nebraska. It had all of my attention. 4 Cameras in position for this event. Pointing due east I was watching these billowing thunderheads on the updraft and it was a sight to see.
I also knew then that this was going to produce come incredible lighting after dark. I was prepared and ready!

Honfleur is a commune in the Calvados department in Normandy en.normandie-tourisme.fr/normandy-tourism-109-2.html in northwestern France. It is located on the southern bank of the estuary of the Seine across from le Havre and very close to the exit of the Pont de Normandie. Its inhabitants are called Honfleurais. It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the école de Honfleur (Honfleur school) which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement. The Sainte-Catherine church, which has a bell tower separate from the principal building, is the largest church made out of wood in France. The first written record of Honfleur is a reference by Richard III, Duke of Normandy, in 1027. By the middle of the 12th century, the city represented a significant transit point for goods from Rouen to England. Located on the estuary of one of the principal rivers of France with a safe harbour and relatively rich hinterland, Honfleur profited from its strategic position from the start of the Hundred Years' War. The town's defences were strengthened by Charles V in order to protect the estuary of the Seine from attacks from the English. This was supported by the nearby port of Harfleur. However, Honfleur was taken and occupied by the English in 1357 and from 1419 to 1450. When under French control, raiding parties often set out from the port to ransack the English coasts, including partially destroying the town of Sandwich, in Kent, England, in the 1450s. At the end of the Hundred Years' War, Honfleur benefited from the boom in maritime trade until the end of the 18th century. Trade was disturbed during the wars of religion in the 16th century. The port saw the departure of a number of explorers, in particular in 1503 of Binot Paulmierde Gonneville to the coasts of Brazil. In 1506, local man Jean Denis departed for Newfoundland island and the mouth of the Saint Lawrence. An expedition in 1608, organised by Samuel de Champlain, founded the city of Quebec in modern day Canada. After 1608, Honfleur thrived on trade with Canada, the West Indies, the African coasts and the Azores. As a result, the town became one of the five principal ports for the slave trade in France. During this time the rapid growth of the town saw the demolition of its fortifications on the orders of Colbert. The wars of the French revolution and the First Empire, and in particular the continental blockade, caused the ruin of Honfleur. It only partially recovered during the 19th century with the trading of wood from northern Europe. Trade was however limited by the silting up of the entrance to the port and development of the modern port at Le Havre. The port however still functions today. Je me baladais au Jardin des Plantes pour y faire quelques photos, quand j'ai rencontré en fin d'après-midi ce beau canard aux ailes étranges.
Il bouge beaucoup et rapidement, il n'est pas facile à photographier !!
Et ensuite ça n'a pas été simple de trouver son nom ! Mais j'ai réussi !
L'année dernière (et il y a deux ans) j'ai photographié un canard inconnu qui lui ressemble un peu, mais ses ailes sont raides en et V, et écartées vers l'arrière du corps. J'ai vu sa photo sur le net, mais pas son nom :(
Je le posterai un jour, peut-être quelqu'un pourra l'identifier ?

I was walking in the Garden Botanical in order to take some pictures, when I met in the late afternoon this beautiful duck with strange wings.
It moves a lot and quickly, it is not easy to photograph !!
And then it was not easy to find his name! But I managed!
Last year (and two years ago) I photographed an unknown duck that looks like him a little, but its wings are stiff and in V, and discarded rearwardly of the body. I saw his picture on the net, but not its name :(
I'll post one day, maybe someone will be able identify it?

It's Ascension Day weekend in the Netherlands, and for me, that means a 4-day weekend. 😀 And I'm probably going to be sleeping most of the time! 😴
It's almost the end of the school year and I'm exhausted... and I can't wait for the summer holidays!
But you know what? Even though work has been hectic, I absolutely love teaching and I cannot imagine not being around students. ❤️
(and yes, those same students can be very annoying.. 😅)
As I watch my parents happily grow old in a world that's cruel and unfair, I'm just reminded to cherish each day because it's not guaranteed.. to be grateful that I'm healthy.. and to choose mental well-being over everything else. 🙏
