It's simply the best way; is with an old cliche.
Always the best way is with an old cliche.
I'll leave it to the best way, it's an old cliche..."
Winter night falls soft in the warm Swedish homes where all the family gathers for Lucia. Lucia is an ancient mythical figure with an abiding role as a bearer of light in the dark Swedish winters The annual candlelit Lucia procession on 13 December is perhaps one of the more exotic-looking Swedish customs, with girls and boys clad in white full-length gowns singing songs together. (Yes, I did this with my family and we have the pics to prove)

My local pond was a hive of activity yesterday as the temperatures rose, we had the hottest February day since records began!
Situated in the South Downs NP, the hollow way to Halnaker windmill is almost glowing as sunset approaches.
Hollow Rock is another well known tombolo located just south of Grand Portage. I have been here a few times but never in the morning. The nice thing about February is that the sun will line up with the opening in the rock and shine through. It was fortunate that the sun was out and cooperated with us.
We weren't sure exactly the sun would be coming through so we had to make a last minute location change to get the sun just correct. Fortunately I was able to get double the fun with the sun with a sunburst. Another added plus we had our choice of spots since there were no workshops going on this day. :)
The light has been creeping in all morning as the Sun rises, appearing through cracks in the canopy, flowing over the top, bathing all in it's warming light.
Das lässt tief blicken. Das Gelbgrün im inneren harmoniert gut mit den Blütenstempeln.

Located in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, Dark Hollow Falls is one of the most popular hikes in the park. Although the trail loop is less than 2 miles, the entirety of the hike and trail is set upon a very steep incline.
I was lucky to snag this image on the hike back up (and you better believe it was tough!). This particular vantage point was VERY crowded with other tourists; fortunately, I was able to wiggle my way to the front and this awesome shot was the result. Some late afternoon light left a brilliant glow on the upper falls that gave a nice contrast to the darker, more ominous shade from the foliage overhead. Not a bad way to end a tough hike!

Special SPECIAL thanks to Amellier Spitteler for allowing us to visit this pretty, pretty sim.
Walking in the woods today I came across this scene. I have no idea who has left this pumpkin, but I had to take a photo.
Tehidy Woods, Cornwall.
Another shot of this gorgeous owlet.
We have passed this nest several times on our morning walk, without noticing it.
So what a surprise it was to see this little cutie staring at us in the early morning light.
He/she was quite distant and we did not wish to disturb the nest. We did however spend a few wonderful minutes watching before it hopped back into the nest hole.
So far this has been the only occasion we have spotted the youngster.

Once again many thanks to all those who view my photos and a special thanks to all who fave and comment on them. They are all truly appreciated and welcome.

Sunrise at Hollow Rock beach at Grand Portage MN.
Hollow Rock beach is a hidden gem. It is a 40 minutes drive north of Grand Marais, MN on highway 61. You need to look out for mile marker 140 and you will see Hollow Rock Resort sign about 1/2 mile after crossing mile marker 140 on the right.
