I tried printing my steampunk fish lino block with gouache, but it didn't work so well. Then I remembered that gouache is water-based, so I used a wet brush to improve the color coverage (although some detail was lost in the process...). Experiments!

Unlike some of the recent letters, the encyclopedia has a plethora of P items. I fear this got a bit cluttered... The background started with pieces from the P section of the index, then a layer of paint to obscure the text, plus plenty of P paraphernalia and a few of their captions. (Note that the pyramid does not show the grain storage area... I wonder why that is?? :^o)

If I were more of a philsopher, I would make some wry comment about TV shows and primates and the general chaos in the background of this postcard. But I'm not, so I leave it as an exercise for the viewer! (And yes, that's a gorilla on the right under Groucho, but it became hard to recognize without the caption...)

Gouache, book clippings, washi tape, packing tape transfers. (The final version had some magenta ink added to heart and lower left clock.)

-something yellow
-a heart
-a clock or time piece of some kind
As is usual for my postcards, pretty much everything (except the tape) was from a book page, but the 'official' book page element was the Chinese-Thai page on the background. I even have a Time/Life book on the subject of time, so I could have included even more clocks! I would have needed a bigger canvase though.

I shoot 5 or 6 rolls and so I decided to print 5X7 s of the shots that were not obviously bad (mostly blurry) these are some of them. Printed on random 5X7 PAPER mostly ilford at 3.5 seconds and f16. batch processed in groups of 6 -12 sheets. the first 50 took just over 2 hours... if you are intrested in a proper optical print of any of these images please get in contact..
