It's the highest summit in the strong northern side ridge, running from Kamnik & Savinja Alps backbone ridge towards Jezersko road pass. Crossing the whole ridge is quite demanding, only the normal ascent on Velika Baba is quite long, but a medium demanding hike up, with a short ferrata section. It comes from the right.

Well, it's finally here, a shiny New Year, out with the old in with the New...:O)))
As I said yesterday, 2008 was rubbish...so I'm praying for a better 2009...:O)))
It ended pretty much the same as it started....I had a massive headache for most of the day yesterday, it seemed as though my head was going to explode!!!!, I popped soooooo many pain killers, I'm surprised I'm still here..lol, suffice to say, not one drop of drink passed my lips...so at least I am waking up in 2009 hangover free...and the headache...touch wood...seems to have gone for now...::O)))
Anyhoo...I wish all those with sore heads, or not a Wonderful Shiny New Year...2009...:O)))

天の川を夏のうちに撮っておこうと、南の空が良好な日を待ちかまえていましたが全く晴れず。

でも、狙っていた「蓑掛岩の真上に天の川」のタイミングは夜8時台の飛行機ラッシュで全部ボツでした。

Better than last weekend, this past weekend the sky at the river was better, the cloud was beautiful and the sunset scenery was very colorful.

Yup....Tiss HBW again..Here's some English Seaside Bokeh.....So Happy Bokeh Wednesday Everybody...hope it's a good one..:O))
The lighthouse you can see in the distance is one of two Dovercourt lighthouses, they are the most prominent features of the seafront. Erected by Trinity House in 1863, they were used until 1917, guiding ships around Landguard Point with their powerful gas lamps. The deep-water channel is now marked by buoys.
TIME AND TIDE WAIT FOR NO ONE MAN/TIME AND TIDE WAIT FOR NO MAN - Proverb from the late 14th century. From "The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations," Fifth Edition, edited by Elizabeth Knowles (Oxford University Press, Oxford and New York, 2001).
Another reference has more detail. It says, in part: Time and tide wait for no man -- "A familiar saying from the days of sailing ships (when tides determined departure times), this maxim was recorded in its earliest form as 'For wete you well the tyde abydeth no man,' which appeared in Everyman (c. 1500).Virtually the modern saying appeared at the end of the eighteenth century in Andrew Barton's 'The Disappointment or The Force of Credulity' (1796). Barton rendered the saying as 'Time and tide waits for no one,' and the exact modern wording was recorded a few years later by Sir Walter Scott in 'Fortunes of Nigel' (1822)." From "Wise Words and Wives' Tales: The Origins, Meanings and Time-Honored Wisdom of Proverbs and Folk Sayings Olde and New" by Stuart Flexner and Doris Flexner (Avon Books, New York, 1993).
A third source says it dates "in English to about 1386 Chaucer's 'Prologue to the 'Clerk's Tale.'..." From "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings" by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996).

My wife's sister just bought a Canon EOS Kiss X2 (450D or Rebel Digital XSI) with double kit lens, CANON-EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS and just asked me to teach her how to use the camera. I've never used the Cannon DSLR before and don't know how to use it effectively. Anyway, I set the camera by using aperture priority and boost the ISO to 800 for the very poor light condition and shoot some shots to see the the color tone, noise and other details.
The above shot is the test result of a normal setting. Only resized for posting, no color, light or sharpness post processing.
How do you like the color tone, the detail and sharpness or any comments?

Still sad that our ascent was canceled due to bad weather. But that gives me yet another reason to return one day. :)
Vicuñas are similar to the wild guanacos, to which the llama also belongs. The two species form the group of humpless New World camels.
In comparison, the vicuña has a more delicate build. It has the most extreme altitude distribution up to 5,000 m of all hoofed animals on the continent. Its wool is even finer than cashmere wool.
Cordillera Central altitude at 2.000 to 3.000 m
Highest mountain Ciero Rico 6,500 m near Potosi
The Cordillera Central stretches over 1,200 km in a north-south direction in central Bolivia.

The road to the Mangartsko Sedlo (Mangart saddle) is the highest-lying road in Slovenia, climbing up an elevation of 2072 metres (6,798 feet) above the sea level. The Mangart Pass is located on the border between Italy and Slovenia in the Julian Alps.
Mangart is the name of the mountain range between the Koritnica Valley and the Mangart Valley, with the highest peak Veliki Mangart (Big Mount Mangart - the mountain in the middle of the composition), 2679 m (8,789 ft). Starting in Bovec, roads to get to the summit are number 203 and number 902. Both have many switchbacks, tunnels, hairpins, and a wild average percent in many sections. According to several sources, this is the highest road in the country.

Death Valley is a desert valley in Eastern California, in the northern Mojave Desert, bordering the Great Basin Desert. It is thought to be the hottest place on Earth during summer.
Death Valley's Badwater Basin is the point of lowest elevation in North America, at 282 feet below sea level. It is 84.6 miles east-southeast of Mount Whitney — the highest point in the contiguous United States, with an elevation of 14,505 feet. On the afternoon of July 10, 1913, the United States Weather Bureau recorded a high temperature of 134 °F at Furnace Creek in Death Valley, which stands as the highest ambient air temperature ever recorded on the surface of the Earth. This reading, however, and several others taken in that period are disputed by some modern experts.
Lying mostly in Inyo County, California, near the border of California and Nevada, in the Great Basin, east of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Death Valley constitutes much of Death Valley National Park and is the principal feature of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts Biosphere Reserve. It runs from north to south between the Amargosa Range on the east and the Panamint Range on the west. The Grapevine Mountains and the Owlshead Mountains form its northern and southern boundaries, respectively. It has an area of about 3,000 sq mi. The highest point in Death Valley National Park is Telescope Peak, in the Panamint Range, which has an elevation of 11,043 feet.
A group of European-American pioneers got lost here in the winter of 1849-1850, while looking for a shortcut to the gold fields of California, giving Death Valley its grim name. Although only one of the group members died here, they all assumed that the valley would be their grave. Death Valley is home to the Timbisha tribe of Native Americans, formerly known as the Panamint Shoshone, who have inhabited the valley for at least the past millennium.
The highest point to 3914 m, diameter 3 km.
Last eruption 1280. Violent eruption (level 6 scale volcanic explosivity index),
