A happy couple at the summit of the rock at Haytor. They were brave to stand upright as it there was quite a blustery wind up there, however they didn't stay long, just enough to enjoy the panoramic views of Dartmoor before descending back to terra firma.

A popular landmark and the second most visited monument in Paris, the basilica stands at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city.” It’s a beautiful church, both inside and out, and is visible from a great distance. If you’re brave enough to climb that hill, and then the many steps to the top of the church, the view of Paris rooftops and landmarks is breathtaking!
The highest elevation of the Silesian Lowlands is sometimes referred to as the “Silesian Mount Olympus”.
Its beauty and mysteriousness attract considerable numbers of tourists.
The massif reaches a height of 718 m above sea level, and in pagan times it was certainly worshipped,
which can be proved by various artefacts discovered there and examined by archaeologists.
Originally, at the site of the present church there a chapel built in the 16th century on the ruins of a castle. In the years 1698-1702,
founded by Abbot Jan Sievert, a brick one-nave chapel with open arcaded porches on both sides was erected. In 1822,
a viewing gallery was added to it. In June of 1834, it was destroyed in fire.
Reconstruction was made in 1851 a few years later.
During the 1960s, the church was fully renovated and rededicated.

Denali has two significant summits: the South Summit is the higher one at 20,310 feet (6,190 m), while the North Summit has an elevation of 19,470 ft (5,934 m). They are both in view here.

5-july-2020: the asphalt stops shortly after the first "Casera"/summer farm/refuge, but the unpaved road continues for much of the southern mountain range up to mount Zoufplan (and then to the Cercivento village).
The road, or part of it, should have hosted a mountain stage of the "Giro d'Italia" (cycling), a few years ago, then nothing came of it (in fact it is a steep and very narrow road, definitely too much even for the already harassed professional cyclists) and maintenance immediately failed with inevitable endless work and closures.
The North Face of Annapurna I (8,091 m), the 10th highest mountain in the world. First climbed by a French expedition lead by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, who summited on the 3rd of June 1950 just before the monsoon storms arrived.
I took this shot just after sunrise, leaving a village called Ledar alone and hiking towards Chulu West to around 5,000 m altitude in order to see over the valleys seperating me from the Annapurna Massif. It was my first view of Annapurna I of this trip and it felt incredible to finally see the mountain about which I had read so much. Although I was so high and surrounded by ice, the sun was incredibly hot, the silence punctuated only by the cracking and groaning sounds of the seracs of Chulu West (6,419 m) so close behind me.

This vertorama was constructed from two 10mm hdr images auto merged in PS CS3. The individual hdr images were five exposures each and first merged and tonemapped in Photomatix 3.1. After cropping the result is a 18 megapixel square image.

Mount Jimara (Ossetian: Джимарайы хох — Jimarayy khokh, Georgian: ჯიმარა) is the second highest point of North Ossetia–Alania, a Russia, with an altitude of 4,780 meters (15,680 ft). It is located on the border between Russia and Georgia. The mountain is located on the Khokh Range, 9 km (5.5 mi) to the west of Mount Kazbek (Mkinvartsveri).
Mount Mkinvartsveri (Kazbek) is a dormant stratovolcano and one of the major mountains of the Caucasus located on the border of Georgia's Kazbegi District. It is the third-highest peak in Georgia (after Mount Shkhara and Janga) and the seventh-highest summit in the Caucasus Mountains. Kazbegi is also the second-highest volcanic summit in the Caucasus, after Mount Elbrus. The summit lies directly to the west of the town of Stepantsminda and is the most prominent geographic feature of the area. Mount Kazbek is the highest peak of Eastern Georgia. The name in Georgian, Mkinvartsveri, translates to "Glacier Peak" or "Freezing Cold Peak". The Vainakh name Bashlam translates as "Molten Mount".
