For this week's Macro Mondays challenge "Bells" I didn't not have much to choose from. My wife had this bell that we got in Hawaii a few years ago. The base of the bell is 3" across so I had to get a little creative, so I hung it from a chandelier and shot it from below as close as could get to it.
As I was trying to take the shot it keep spinning on the thread as it's hanging there and would not stop.

A Hawaiian sunset in the beautiful island of Maui at Kāʻanapali shores looking in the distance towards Lānaʻi on the left and Moloka'i on the right
I really like this pic but it was from several years ago and I could only find and edit it as a jpg in Cap One, so I might have rendered it differently if I could have found the raw file. I am more organized now.
In spite of the title, this is not a crater (although there are a few little recent ones in the middle) nor is it a caldera. Rather it is mainly an erosional feature caused by drainage canyons eating their way uphill and finally merging on the summit. The summit where we are is 10,023 feet, and the volcano last erupted only about 350 years ago, so its still active, geologically speaking.

Our last day in Hawaii, we drove around and found ourselves near Sea Life Park and Makapu'u Point. Not one to waste an opportunity, I grabbed my camera to capture a quick image of the light house over the cliffs. What I got was a gentleman paragliding. I noticed him off to the side, but it never occurred to me that he was getting ready to launch himself into my photo. I'm so glad he did. Now that there is a paraglider in the photo it just feels like a magazine cover for a travel magazine that is beckoning you to visit the island of Oahu.

Here's a shot from my recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaii is a place know for its rain and it didn't disappoint. I caught a break in the rain for a short period and grabbed this shot at sunrise.

Vehicle carrier parked at the port of Benicia with the Carquinez Bridge at left. This vessel flies under the flag of the Marshall Islands and is 655' long. Today on Sept. 26th it is located in the Red Sea. It's amazing the information we have access to, as I sip my coffee.
This is an 8 shot pano, the shots taken vertically and stitched together in camera raw. The amount of detail in the final image is really amazing.
I took this shot from Martinez, CA. at the base of the interstate 680 Benicia bridge.
Secret beach somewhere on Hawaii. I never get tired of this beach. I don't want to name it because we don't want it to get flooded with bus loads of tourists. The waves are just perfect, sand is course and the scenery is stunning. Aloha.
A pretty tree in Maui, Hawaii. I'm going through some photos that I never edited from a vacation in July 2009.
