This was taken about 20 minutes after the sun had set. I had been shooting the sunset from some rocks, but wanted to incorporate the pier. I thought that I may have left it too late, but this turned out to be my shot of the day. As it was quite dark, I used my flash to light up as much of the foreground as possible. Time for an off camera flash I think :-)
Half Moon Cay is an island of The Bahamas. Carnival has guest facilities on the island. It has nice beaches, and Carnival serves lunch.
To get to the island from the ship, you must take a tender.
This is a photo of one of the tenders used to travel to and from the ship to the island.
It was taken in September 2014.

Half Moon Cay (or Little San Salvador Island) is a private beach that Carnival ships visit on Bahama cruises.
There are beach villas for rent on the beach.

Sunset over Half Moon Bay in California. Somehow this photo got buried in my backlog and I just recently found it again. It's a little surprise and reminder of a day about a year ago.

BEST VIEWED ON BLACK.
first shot , un- cropped , shown as seen.
a bit more impressive than my 500mm lens shots , 750mm reflector with a 2X barlow giving an effective focal length of 1500mm or 2250mm ( ! ) in 35mm film terms.
playing with my new toy , just picked up a new telescope , a 750mm reflector with a primary mirror of 150mm diameter which gives an effective aperature of f/5 . built it up and set the mirrors up and made the most of the clear night , first in a while , hopefully more to follow.

I took this photo of the beach area which I saw from the tender, as I returned to the ship. I probably walked down the stairs at the far right. The handrail ended before you got down to the beach level.
What a fine time. It really was this gorgeous straight out of the camera! I found shade and a lovely retired teacher from Georgia to chat with and enjoyed every minute of this stay.
Looking out from Edinburgh Castle's Half-Moon Battery over the city, with Calton Hill on the left and the spire of the Hub on the right.
For all outward appearances still a church, the giant spire at the top of the Royal Mile is now home to the Hub – the organisational centre of the Edinburgh International Festival.
The black neo-Gothic spire was originally erected in 1845 as the pinnacle of an Assembly Hall for the Church of Scotland, but in 1999 it became the festival headquarters.
The architecture of the building was the result of collaboration between Augustus Pugin and J Gillespie Graham and the spire is still the highest building in the centre of Edinburgh.
The city’s most famous attraction, Edinburgh Castle perches high on a crag of volcanic rock, overlooking the lands it has dominated for centuries.
The castle has been home to the Scottish or British Royal Family for hundreds of years. It was here that in 1566 Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to the future James VI (James I of England) and Bonnie Prince Charlie attempted to revive an independent nation with a failed siege in 1745 (the last time it saw military action).
The castle has long served as a military outpost (and still houses a garrison), repelling – or occasionally succumbing – to sieges by the English during hundreds of years on conflict – and as a home for royals, and is where the Scottish Crown Jewels are kept to this day.
As well as the jewels, there is a church, a national war memorial and several museums within the grounds, which can be visited – for a hefty price – by anyone wanting to take a peak behind the formidable walls. St Margaret’s Chapel is said to be the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh, constructed by King David I in the 12th century, while the famous cannon Mons Meg can also be found here.
The views from the battlements stretch out over the city to the Firth of Forth, Midlothian and beyond.

If you like to be close to everything, these last 3 cabanas are not for you. It is a looooong hike to these cabanas all the way down the beach and they are close to nothing. They have very few people around and if you like excitement and party atmosphere, you will not like these cabanas

Montréal-based indie rock four-piece Half Moon Run played a short in-store set at East London's Rough Trade in support of their debut studio album Dark Eyes.
The crowd, soaked from another torrential January downpour, were engaged throughout their energetic set which had frontman Devon Portielje to the left of the stage while Conner Molander took the right.
