Wikipedia: The green bee-eater (Merops orientalis), also known as little green bee-eater, is a near passerine bird in the bee-eater family. It is resident but prone to seasonal movements and is found widely distributed across sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal and the Gambia to Ethiopia, the Nile valley, western Arabia and Asia through India to Vietnam. They are mainly insect eaters and they are found in grassland, thin scrub and forest often quite far from water. Several regional plumage variations are known and several subspecies have been named.

The green-tailed towhee is the smallest towhee, but is still one of the larger members of the American sparrow family Passerellidae. Its breeding range covers most of the interior Western United States, with a winter range in Mexico and the southern edge of the Southwestern United States.

This Green Heron just couldn’t decide: ‘Should I stay or should I go?’ He would stretch his neck up, begin to leave then compress that magical slinky neck down and relax for a few seconds before doing it again. Finally, he stretched his neck way out and took to the air. Green Herons are often amusing, chasing each other around, making strange sounds, fishing from low branches or from the air and working that magical neck. Lots of fun. Green Heron is a small species among the members of the Herons family, and has distinctive colouring with greenish wings and back and a rich chestnut neck area. This individual was hunting in a wetland of Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Positioned deep within the frame, perfectly splitting the mid-ground and background, the frog is draped in tiny patches of duckweed, camouflaging him into the swampy carpet. In the distance, the scene is framed by weathered, moss-covered logs, adding a rustic texture to the soft, aquatic environment.
