Magpie taking off with the peanuts

Although she appears to be hanging on for dear life, this bumblebee was having no trouble at all collecting pollen from the blooming beach goldenrod.

Halfway through an imposed 10 day health isolation period, I have had ample time to observe greedy Bluejays feeding off of my wife's overly generous helpings of shelled peanuts.

One ability they have that even crows can't seem to match is to half swallow a peanut lengthwise in their throats and leave just enough room at the opening of their beak to swiftly snatch another peanut sideways and fly off with their double booty.

These things are busy eating the leaves on one of my rose bushes. Hopefully somebody will know what they are.

Some crows in our neighbourhood uhh murder are very polite, standing back for all their colleagues to have access first. Others jump in quickly and squeeze as many peanuts in their mouths as they possibly can before they fly off. This is one of the latter.

This was this afternoon just outside our kitchen door.

We took a cruise to watch feeding Gannets yesterday, it was quite an experience! These birds are nesting on Bempton Cliffs in East Yorkshire and we were a couple of miles out, luckily the weather was kind. It was fun watching the birds in the water.

Random Bat-combo. Mostly practicing with white balances. Don't look too much into it.

Another day out trying to capture images of Kingfishers.

After a longish wait this Kingfisher returned and made a quick dive. It was very lucky, it climbed back to the perch with 2 Fish in its beak.

it is a buffet after all...

A much underrated bird, can be a tad noisy, greedy and boisterous.. but very handsome....

The first autumn visit to the garden from a pair of Greenfinches (rather causing consternation in our local Goldfinch population!)

I decided to share my chocolate fingers with Steavson yesterday. He had way to many and my bro had to escort him away from the snack plate.

They should have named Herring gulls Gannets.

They're bully-boy gluttons.

I’m sure that if I hadn’t been away from home I’d have come up with something better and spookier .

With the current this 3rd lockdown in place, the starlings coming to the feeder makes for a good subject. I am planning to set different scenes in the garden to vary the type of photographs I can get. The challenge is to make do with the small garden.
