Usually there's a giant rat placed at these non-union construction sites but this one had a big inflated pig.
At a shallow part part the lake I visit sand bars have been revealed as water levels receded over the summer. Shoals of small fish are chased into this area by perch, the water boiling with small fish jumping around as they flee. Some of them end up on the exposed sand which has not been missed by the resident moorhen and others
A brief trip to Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire. Weather was cool and cloudy. The hope was to see a Common Scoter that had been reported. ( But not found by me )
Having been unable to locate the Common Scoter i was making my way back to the car park to go home when i saw this Great Crested Grebe with what initially looked like a small Fish. As it lifted its head from the water i realised it was a Pike. I quickly switched the camera back on an managed to get two images captured before the Grebe had swallowed the Pike completely.
A good end to the visit.
At a gorilla enclosure at the Bronx Zoo carrot strips and potato slices are left out on the ground. So out comes one adult female and a few juveniles. While the juveniles would just grab one carrot slice and start to eat the adult female here grabbed as many as she could pick up at one time and start gorging herself on them.

I took this photo at Monrepos and it's the first photo of a crow I have ever taken there. The crows my be greedy and they certainly are cheeky but for some reason they usually don't appear in the areas where the feeders are when people are around. This crow was only interested in the walnuts which someone had left there for the squirrels.
Whenever I put peanuts out, the blue jays seem to materialize out of nowhere to grab as many as they can.

A moorhen with a pretzel in its beak is a common sight at the river as people use to feed the waterfowl there with bread and pretzels although it's not allowed. The moorhen was in a hurry because it had stolen the pretzel from a goose and tried to escape to safety with its prey. It couldn't enjoy the pretzel for long, though, as the crows, most greedy birds of all, decided that they wanted some pretzel too.

Greedy Robin grabbing two suet pellets at a time! Very difficult to get these shots. 80% of the frames don't have a bird in them as they are so fast!
If you look closely, you can see this little squirrel must think he's a chipmunk by the way he's shoving those peanuts into his mouth!
Most squirrels show more "table manners" by eating one nut at a time. But every once in a while, there's a greedy gut who grabs those nuts by the pawful.
But maybe I'll cut him some slack this time, since it's been a while since I've put out some Goodie Bowls, and this may be the first one he's ever seen!!
