Abstract interior architecture. Same Helsinki University Main Library lobby as in Ellipsism Study I, but photographed from opposite direction (still upwards from the ground floor though). The main light pours down from a window in the ceiling.

Kyoto Station (1997) is a major railway station and transportation hub in Kyoto, Japan. It has Japan's second-largest station building (after Nagoya Station) and is one of the country's largest buildings, incorporating a shopping mall, hotel, movie theater, Isetan department store, and several local government facilities under one 15-story roof.
Facts
• The grand staircase "Graphical Illumination" of the station has 171 steps of LED pixels.
• The futuristic glass structure replaced the old Kyoto station, which burned down in 1952.
• The station's wavy roof is a structure of braced steel truss supports and glass.
• Built to commemorate the 1,200th anniversary of the foundation of Kyoto as the Heian capital.
• The atrium rises 60 meters over the main concourse up to the roof.
• The giant escalator system takes passengers up nine storeys.

This is not a beautiful PC game (fun though it is), but when I just opened up the PS3 version, I was happily surprised by the increase in texture quality in the PC port. It's very hard to go back (even if I do miss the Japanese voice-overs). For those who've never played this game: you can climb onto the bigger monsters in an attempt to find their weak spots. It's every bit as fun as it sounds. If you play on Hard mode this becomes something of a cross between a poor man's Dark Souls and a poor man's Shadow of the Colossus... very much not perfect, but quite hard to put down.

Secretly
What I did secretly,
you took part in,
you didn't notice – obviously,
because that was done in secret.
Whout you secretly knew
you didn't believe in,
perhaps you were conscious that – said
it steals away from you.
But had it stayed secret
its grandeur would still be there.
Which no one would have seen,
as secret as it was,
as secret as it was.
My heart was hidden
where it is at home,
this place cannot be seen – obviously,
because that is secret.
What I secretly felt
sometimes clearly obvious,
remained at the core just peripheral
where it was invisible.
What I secretly did,
you took part in,
you didn't notice – obviously,
because that was done in secret.
But had it stayed secret…

I was challenging myself to use strong graphical compositions and elements in my street portraits this week and I came across this background that I knew of and have seen before but have never used. Looking at it from this angle it reminded me of the test screen they used to use on BBC TV when I was younger!
I knew I wanted a striking stranger who would fit in but stand out in the scene and jumped out on the street to find the right stranger.
It didn't take long until the bright orange top and cool glasses of Sully walked past and I made my approach.
He was super cool and very happy to be involved in the portraits.
Thanks To Arnab on the reflector duties to pop extra light in (although on a technical challenge I need to remember to check colour balance of reflected light as it cast a distant orange glow around the bottom of his chin that I had to fix in Photoshop - my fault not Arnab's).
Sully is on instagram @Hudprofet and my supplementary shot will be on there with the glasses off! However glasses on was essential for this image in my stream as the black and white add another element to the scene.

Stuck With You
I close my eyes and dream about a sunny holiday
I wish that I was beachin' down on Saint Tropez
Or sitting in the lobby at the fabulous Pierre
With diamonds on my fingers and not a single care
Instead I'm on the Avenue where nobody goes
With fields of green that wilted like a last summer rose
Some people call it paradise, but I call it pain
Baby take me anywhere, but not here again
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do
You promised me a motorcade and endless perfume
A palace in Geneva with a perfect view
And dreams painted yellow like the color of gold
And dine with kings and queens 'till the food gets cold
Instead I'm on the edge of all I thought I would be
This dream is now a comedy I don't wanna see
Some people call it laughter but I call it pain
Baby take me anywhere but not here again
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do
Oh I do
I know we have a chemistry
This combination's heavenly
But don't forget you promised me
Everything, everything
I know we have a chemistry
This combination's heavenly
But don't forget that you promised me
Everything
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do
Why am I sitting in the middle of nowhere
Standing here with nothing to do
Wondering if I really love you, oh oh
I guess that I do

This is a small and simple tribute to Dak Ralter. He was Luke's aerial gunner during the Battle of Hoth.
I was photographing Lego Star Wars helmets other day. Even they are so small, they are unique and perfect on this scale. I think Lego has done a good job with these!
I have sought out by searching areas of the shore just swept by the surf looking for a "tidy" scene such as this one. The angles, shapes and tones I have depicted here all combine well I believe.
