Im östlichen Ortsteil der 700-Seelen-Marktgemeinde Hadres (HL) steht am Kirchplatz, vor der örtlichen Schule, diese etwa 4,2m hohe Marien-Säule aus Sandstein. Sie ruht in 193m SH im örtlichen Ried "Bruckwiese" auf einem quadratischen Sockel auf dem ein hoher Fussblock aufliegt der oberhalb gewulstet ist. Am Fussblock ein würfelförmiges Postament das an seiner Vorderseite eine viereckige genutete Kartusche zeigt mit eingezogenen Ecken - ohne Inhalt. Am Postament eine vorkragende Deckplatte die unterhalb gestuft ist. Auf der Deckplatte ein quadratischer Säulensockel auf dem sich eine hohe toskanische Säule erhebt die sich etwas nach obenhin verjüngt. Sie hat unterhalb einen gestuften Basalring, oberhalb ein schmaler Halsring. Auf der Säule ein barockes Kompositkapitel mit Diagonalvoluten, Akantusblatt-Ornamenten und grossen geflügelte Engelsköpfe dazwischen. Selten im Kapitel sind noch die Feldfrüchte dazwischen wie Trauben, Mohn und Granatäpfel, die nur im Barock um 1700 gefertigt wurden. Am Kapitel ein rechteckiger Figurensockel auf dem eine frühklassizistische Pieta nach der Kreuzabnahme zu sehen ist. Sie zeigt die Gottesmutter Maria die in tiefer Trauer ihren toten Sohn Jesus Christus auf ihrer Schoss hält. Diese Darstellung wird am Kreuzweg als vorletzte Station gezeigt. Diese figurelle Darstellung wird auch Vesperbild genannt da die Kreuzabnahme Christi zur Zeit des Abendgebetes am Karfreitag geschah. Ob die Säule schon immer dort gestanden ist, ist ungewiss. (W)

This is a Woman`s Foot - a so called Lotus Foot.
This is not a natural deformation, it is manmade. It was a beau ideal in China for a thousand years.
Little girls at the age of 5 years were broken the toes and bound under the foot so that the foot cannot grow. The women, who were forced in this torture during their whole childhood, could not make normal long steps and they could only walk short distances.
These women were livelong handicapped.
This custome was forbidden not before 21 century.

Die Praxis:
"Den meisten chinesischen Mädchen wurden die Füße im Alter von fünf bis acht Jahren von der Mutter oder der Großmutter abgebunden. Zunächst wurde der Fuß in einer Flüssigkeit aus Kräutern und Alaun eingeweicht, die Zehnägel so kurz wie möglich geschnitten, um ein Einwachsen und damit einhergehende Infektionen zu vermeiden und der Fuß dann massiert. Der Fuß wurde anschließend so eng mit Bandagen umschlungen, dass er im Wachstum gehemmt und zum Klumpfuß verformt wurde. Dann wurden die Mädchen gezwungen, mit kleinen Schnabelschuhen zu laufen, um die Durchblutung der Füße zu fördern. Mit Ausnahme der großen Zehe wurden alle Zehen gebrochen und unter die Fußsohle gebogen. Den jungen Mädchen wurden die Zehen dabei alle zwei Tage erneut mit nassen und immer engeren Bandagen, die beim Trocknen auch wiederum enger wurden, unter die Fußsohle geschnürt, damit sie schmale, spitze Füße bekamen." "A pomegranate is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree growing to between five and eight meters tall. The pomegranate is native to Iran and has been cultivated in the Caucasus since ancient times. It is widely cultivated throughout Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, North India, the drier parts of southeast Asia, Peninsular Malaysia, the East Indies, the Mediterranean and Southern Europe and tropical Africa. Introduced into Latin America and California by Spanish settlers in 1769, pomegranate is now cultivated in parts of California and Arizona for juice production.
The name "pomegranate" derives from Latin pomum ("apple") and granatus ("seeded"). This has influenced the common name for pomegranate in many languages (e.g., German Granatapfel, seeded apple). An ancient fruit, pomegranate is mentioned in Europe as early as the Iron-Age Greek Mythology in the Homeric hymns. Yet, it has still to reach mainstream prominence as a consumer fruit in commercial markets of North America and the Western Hemisphere.In early English, the Pomegranate was known as "apple of Grenada" -- a term which today survives only in heraldic blazons. This was probably a folk etymology, confusing Latin granatus with the Spanish city of Granada. The genus name Punica is named for the Phoenicians, who were active in broadening its cultivation, partly for religious reasons. In classical Latin, where "malum" was broadly applied to many apple-like fruits, the pomegranate's name was malum punicum or malum granatum, the latter giving rise to the Italian name melograno, or less commonly melagrana.
In the Indian subcontinent's ancient Ayurveda system of medicine, the pomegranate has extensively been used as a source of traditional remedies for thousands of years.
The rind of the fruit and the bark of the pomegranate tree is used as a traditional remedy against diarrhea, dysentery and intestinal parasites. The seeds and juice are considered a tonic for the heart and throat, and classified as a bitter-astringent (pitta or fire) component under the Ayurvedic system, and considered a healthful counterbalance to a diet high in sweet-fatty (kapha or earth) components. The astringent qualities of the flower juice, rind and tree bark are considered valuable for a variety of purposes such as stopping nose bleeds and gum bleeds, toning skin, (after blending with mustard oil) firming-up sagging breasts and treating hemorrhoids.
