Getting ready for the Farm...:D

I took my photos of Smalls Falls in Maine this past August with a different perspective from my first visit there in 2007. Last years photos were taken from a footbridge and this year, I wanted a different angle.

The water was cold (It was cold enough that day for me to wear a jacket) and the rocks were slippery but I didn't fall (my biggest worry - I would have dried - the camera wouldn't have). I did drop my remote shutter release into the water on the way in though. It worked again after I let it dry for two days :-).

BTW, I couldn't feel my feet for quite a while after finishing my photos. It made walking out of the falls interesting, lol.

I'll be posting my photos of the waterfall next. This one was taken by my husband who also uses a 40D

I'd like to see a photo that has a super soft focus, but not in an attempt to create blur or camera movement, just "fuzzy." But wait there is more... In the U.S. the perception of Ireland is either of a "partying place" or one wrapped in turmoil. I'm guessing it's somewhere in between. So in addition to the soft focus, how about capturing an essence of Irish family life. One last thing, how about the photo speaks for itself and minimize the amount of post processing.

Tough Assignment but I did my best. I'm not used to putting things deliberately out of focus. Dessert was tasty though!

We went out to get some decorating stuff today. I saw these kids on their bikes and scooters in the skateboard park next to the shops.

Well. The temperature is starting to drop. By sunrise they're talking maybe 3 degrees F. But with 25 mph winds. That will put it in the minus twenty range for wind chill.

I'm less than a mile from the shoreline. So I'll have it warmer.

Water temperature is in upper thirties. So it will warm it near shoreline about ten degrees or so.

Winter has finally arrived. Not expecting warmer for next ten days. Seeing the season started later. Really won't get bearable till mid March. And hopefully by may we will start stringing some sixty degree days together.

It's why we push our summers. And it's almost like a non-stop party.

Our settlers were nicknamed Badgers. The land was an abundant trapper's paradise. And because they dug holes into hills during winter and bundled and existed through it. Cold and snowy. Sometimes you just see clouds for weeks.

But it's truly a gorgeous state in the other three seasons. And only real, real cold about 6 weeks.

So start the stopwatches. Heavy jackets and hat will be replaced by Easter dresses followed by bikinis.

Hey. It's my state. But l call it home and l love it. And though l occasionally bitch about.

Really wouldn't want any other way. Because weather like this, is what makes riding Mr. Biscuits special any time l get the opportunity.

Now home. Watch a little football. And dinner with friends...

11.2011. Hello to all the fans of my curvy figure. It's good to know us girls over 30 and over 150lbs can still turn some heads. I appreciate your appreciation. Since I am an amateur photographer, I do not charge a fee for use of my photos and hold a creative commons license so that someone who wants one of my photos is not limited by a fee or licensing. That being said, this curvy girl loves her pets and has a dog in trouble and not a budget to give him the help he needs. I have set up a ChipIn page to collect donations for my Corgi Sampson's $2,000+ surgery to fix a perineal hernia. Please click on the link below to read our anifamily's story and make donations via paypal. Any donation is greatly appreciated, but if you favorite, save or display my photos on your computer or website, I would like to ask that you donate $1 per photo. Sampson and his Corgi buddies Shiloh & Rusty, as well as their human family thank you!

No don't worry Jojo hasn't been down the town getting drunk and then picking fist-fights, I keep having little accidents. Thankfully I'm better at getting guys to get me into bed than I am at playing snooker as I keep banging my knuckles on the edge of the table as I cue and then follow through. I've done it a few times and should know better but this time I grazed them badly and had to put a sticking plaster on it and when I pulled it off the blister was a greenish-yellow because it was infected. I wondered why it hurt so much and a week has gone by and even though it is healing slowly it is still painful. I'm sure when I was younger life asn't so full of little mishaps, I guess I'm just getting clumsy. And yes while I mention it I dropped and smashed a large jar of beeetroot on the floor of Sainsbury's this evening so it's a good job I didn't go down on my bike.

Ruth and I are Flickr buddies for quite a while,

I always admire her creativity in her photography and she's a real pleasure to be a Get Pushed partner :

her idea was to create an image that is typical Belgian (for her) and typical Canadian (for me).

An alternative for me was to do something with music; so, I combined both ideas.

Since I became more or less a self made amateur photographer, I've tried lots of new ideas & techniques,

one of them being concert photography - really awesome;

one thing I like about far away Canada (apart from the stunning nature)

is because it's the home of some amazingly talented musicians :

The diary of an angry friend...

You didn’t give her any signs

That you were saying last goodbyes

Your motives were so very clear

You never were truly here

If you want to date again,

Don’t even try to get with her friends

You won’t find her here or there

You won’t find her anywhere

Get out of her life

You caused her way to much strife!!!

This roll had some emulsion issues.

This week I invested in some 'Flow Improver' to use instead of water to mix the paint, and I set about creating a few backgrounds with a nice watercolour style graded wash. Then I changed my mind and painted this strong plain colour instead! I'm aiming to finish another painting over the weekend too though to use my backgrounds.

Anyway, for this painting I chose 'focal point' as my composition principle, and made the bird bright and sharp. I originally intended to draw a flying bird in the distance in more muted colours and fuzzier, but now I think that would actually ruin this painting (if the other bird was there it would emphasise the focal point bird rather than it jsut being the focal point because it is the only thing in the painting!) - would love some feedback from others.

The other principle I followed was to keep the elements varied in space - I placed the bird off centre and the twig/wire cuts the painting in 2 but not symmetrically.

The other thing I was going to add to this was the word 'fly' in italic elegant lettering in the top right corner. Again, I'm not sure if that would ruin it - please give me any opinions!
