Visitors are almost guaranteed to see condors soaring above the beautiful landscape at any time of year from the condor viewing kiosk at the west end of the monument. Viewing is best at mid-to late morning. We suggest you bring binoculars to get the best view possible.

"Looking back over my internship, it sure has gone by fast! By working together, trying new ideas, and trusting each other we can accomplish great things.

As this 11 week internship draws to an end, I am just finishing up my project of creating a geospatial database of all the range improvements on key allotments. The map here to the left shows the Pine Nut Herd Management Area(HMA), all of the allotments included in that HMA now have a GIS database to locate all range improvements and their condition. Most of these allotments are not only important to the wild horses, but also to the Greater Sage Grouse. In addition to these allotments included in the HMA, other allotments with sage grouse habitat have been included in the database."

This morning I finally went for it and hiked the Raven Rocks portion of the Appalachian Trail. It has been years since I last hiked this trail and I was worried I might not have been in the kind of shape required to hike this trail, but it looks like the visits to the gym and walks around the neighborhood have paid off. Nature has always been a great source of peace and inspiration, so I brought my iPad in hopes of composing a little ambient track in Garageband, inspired by my surroundings. I included a little snippet here in the post, though it might still need some work. I also tried to get some sketching in, but the yellow jackets kept paying me a visit. Must’ve been the tasty treats I brought along, so I eventually had to cut my stay short and scram.
