The tragic and unjust murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020 caused a tidal wave of anger, frustration, and action to address systemic police brutality and racism in our community, state, country, and world.

I'm embarrassed to say that this happened very near to my home. In fact, it took me well over a month to visit the memorial site where Mr. Floyd uttered his last words, "I can't breathe" at 38th & Chicago in Minneapolis, MN.

The pain and suffering are still apparent, but out of the ashes emerges a new feeling of activism and awareness. I can only hope that the energy around this tragedy leads to positive things.

My uncle. Pilot Officer Charles George Johnson in the very early part of the war, I imagine when he was awarded his wings. He flew two complete tours of duty in Mosquitoes - where the survival rate of pilots was not high - and then went to Canada under the Commonwealth Training Program to train more pilots. After the war he became the publisher of the Langley Advance.

Overlooking the Niagara River, Fort George was built between 1796 and 1802. This fortification served as the headquarters for the Centre Division of the British Army during the War of 1812, and played a pivotal role in the defence of Upper Canada. Fort George saw action during the Battle of Queenston Heights, was destroyed and captured by the Americans during the Battle of Fort George, and was reclaimed by the British seven months later.

Detail of 1953 window by Christopher Webb, in memory of the poet and priest George Herbert (1593 - 1632). This memorial is in Salisbury cathedral but tucked away in a corner behind a huge tomb, which obscures most of the window. The theme of the window is one of Herbert's poems Love-Joy.

"Well I guess it would be nice, If I could touch your body", but get some deodorant dude! Thanks for the suggestion for this one Christopher.
