Normandiya'nın Caen (okunuş: Kaen) şehrinde doğan Fransız asıllı sanatçı George de La Chappelle, La Haye'ın Osmanlı topraklarında elçilik görevi süresinde (1639-1660) uzun yıllar boyunca İstanbul ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu hakimiyetindeki başka yerlerde yaşadı. Sanatçı, La Haye dışında Doğu'daki başka Fransız elçilerin de yandaşlığını kazanmış olmalı ki hem İstanbul'da hem başka yörelerde değişik milletlerden birçok kadın portresini canlı modele bakarak çizmişti. Kadın tabloları içeren Albümü yayın tarihinden (1648) on yıl sonra yeniden yayınlandı (1658).
Avrupa'da ilk kez 16. yüzyıl ortalarında yayınlanan ve Doğu'dan çeşitli insan tipleri içeren N. de Nicolay'ın kitabının yayınından itibaren portreler çok ilgi gören bir konu olur, okur kitlesiyse özellikle kadın portreleri ve kıyafetlerine tercih gösterir. La Chappelle'in yayınladığı Albümde, kadın kıyafetleri güçlü bir realizm anlayışıyla esas konuyu çerçeveleyen göz alıcı ayrıntılarla sergilenirken, arka planda Osmanlı başkenti İstanbul'un ünlü anıtları ve manzaraları da ayırdedilmektedir.

CK went to bed way earlier than me (I'm still up). George left the bedroom and curled up in the little gap between me and the end of the sofa. So cute! He's not usually a cuddler like this. He's pressed up right against me, and I can feel him purring.

Fort George is a constituency in the Belize district.
Belize is a Central American country bordered in the north by Mexico, the south and west by Guatemala and the east by the Caribbean Sea. The official language is English. Belize has a population of around 380,000 which makes it one of the most sparsely populated countries in Central America. Originally it was part of the British Empire and was known as British Honduras from 1862 to 1973.
