"George McClellan was a U.S. Army engineer, railroad president and politician who served as a major general during the Civil War. McClellan was well liked by his men, but his reticence to attack the Confederacy with the full force of his army put him at odds with President Abraham Lincoln. In 1862, McClellan’s Peninsula Campaign unraveled after the Seven Days Battles, and he also failed to decisively defeat Robert E. Lee’s Confederate Army at the Battle of Antietam. Frustrated by McClellan’s cautious tactics, Lincoln removed him from command. McClellan would go on to mount a failed presidential bid against Lincoln in 1864, and would later serve as the governor of New Jersey."

Georges Pond is part of Demarest Lloyd state park in South Dartmouth, an area of MA that gets little traffic. But the nature here is quite breathtaking. This panoramic was captured with my phone because my Canon 24-70mm F2.8 lens started to malfunction (Err 01, an indicator of expensive repair, unfortunately).

St Georges hall in Liverpool looking like a Mississippi paddle steamer on the run in to Christmas 2019.
The trail continues above the lake on the opposite shore. When I first arrived in the basin, I took a snack break on those rocky outcrops middle right of frame, and scoped out this spot for camp when I realized the light and views were probably going to play out better on this side of the lake.
If we are not good stewards of our freedom, we will lose it. Yet the apathetic do not care.

This was one of those shots that didn't at first cone out right because of heavy warm weather haze. But after a lot of tweaking with the picture software I turned this into a much better shot. Taken from the balcony of the Cloisters Museum.
