Generous helpings of maple syrup and brown sugar team with buttermilk powder, sourdough starter and whole wheat flour in these chewy boiled bagels... perfect for breakfast (and awesome as "French toast"!). Made for mom as one of my weekly breads.

This old man was sitting on the bus with a handful of flowers. I didn't notice at the time, but he put one on the seat beside him when he left the bus.
A few stops later, a cute girl and her boyfriend got on the bus, and when they went to sit at the seat, she found the flower. She was incredibly excited, and you could tell it really made her day.
I don't know who the old man was, but he makes the world a better place.

One morning when I was out for a walk, I saw that some maintenence workers were getting set up to trim the hedges. I asked one of them if he could give me some cuttings of bougainvillea, and he happily did!
It reminded me of another generous gardener!
Wow, Jenny, you seriously went overboard! I know these weren't all meant to be a part of our swap but any way you look at it, this is a crazy lot of fabric! Thank you sooooo much!
Generosity from some people can come in different ways for Emily, she was given a small white box which was filled with little berry flavoured white chocolates and a slice of fudge.
I have been very fortunate in holidaying in a gorgeous chocolate box thatched cottage in deepest Suffolk for the last week.
Three friends and i have been allowed to stay in the second home of a most generous couple and as a gift I was asked to make a thank you card for our hosts.
I made four!
I also created a stitched paper pod for holding lavender which now adorns the massive chimney breast.
I do hope our hosts like these gifts which use flowers from their amazing garden.
took another series of photos with keeping the subject in place but changing my perspective...this one close up...

Due to the generous donation from Mike and Monette Hopton of Fair Hope, Alabama, we also sent Jackton Wasiema, who is currently living in Nairobi, Kenya, three boxes of shoes, T-shirts, and medals. Boonies first learned about Jackton from Edit Berces, a Hungarian national Ultramarathon champion who also receives and disperses shoe shipments. Jackton and several of his athlete friends were dislocated by the civil unrest in Kenya last year. At that time, Boonies helped him out by sending shoes and clothing. Due to instability in Kenya, Jackton has been competing locally the last year and a half, winning events in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. With his proceeds, he is currently assisting 20 athletes. Here are some of the goals Jackton is helping his friends meet: keep them away from drugs and vices such as thuggery (his terminology); look out for means to help them get an education; nurture, groom and tap athletic talents; make them better people in the society; and empower them with life skills.
Please see the photos of Jackton and one of the training sessions with his runners.
Here are some highlights from Jackton’s resume:

Despite and abysmal weather forecast and unseasonable cold temperatures on Saturday, 4/7/18 over 90 dedicated volunteers arrived at Bread and Cheese Creek to clean up the beautiful little historic stream. Before they left a 40 yard dumpster was filled with trash and debris stream and its bank totally over 4 tons!!! This included 332 bags of trash, truck full of metal to be recycled, 5 tires, 4 box springs , 3 mattresses, a coffee table, half a shed, a picnic umbrella and much more!!! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work under such tough conditions! Our volunteer dedication to working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment cannot be topped!
While this cleanup was planned and run by Clean Bread and Cheese Community Cleanups we couldn’t do any of it without our incredible volunteer and our wonderful supporters. We would like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and American Rivers for all their assistance and support on this cleanup and to thank Burger King, Pat's Pizzeria Dundalk MD, Chic-fil-a and Chesapeake Traders Food Warehouse for their generous donations of food to feed all our hungry and hardworking volunteers!!! Thank you so much Forster’s Financial, Tradepoint Atlantic for your generous donations allowing is to purchase much needed supplies! Thank you to Baltimore County Highways for supplying us with a dumpster and helping out! We would also like to thank the Mu Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity of Towson University for all the incredible volunteers they supplied!
Okay, here's the story. We bought a new fry pan and needed to get rid of the old one. How? Take it to the metal recycler. Ah, but, these guys are now subject to new laws aimed at metal thiefs who try to sell their stolen copper wire etc. to scrap metal dealers. So instead of just dropping off the old fry pan the other half of jamica had to park, go to the office, prove her i/d, fill in forms, they had to fill in forms and at the end we were paid the value of the metal...5 cents. We thought this sufficiently absurd (the transaction cost to all involved much more than 5 cents) that we should post this. (To make it clear, we're not making fun of Action Metals...they in fact were very pleasant, very professional.)
"Generous Gardener" is a David Austin rose-- old English kind. Very double and fragrant, with gentle colours.
