Thank you to all my friends and followers who have viewed, faved & commented on my latest work. You are, as ever, so generous to me and I appreciate your support so much.
This is just a little update to let you know that I will be getting back to you as soon as I can to enjoy your lovely work, as you know I like to catch up with all your galleries.
I am more behind than usual as I have just had to undergo some extensive dental work, as I have been in some discomfort for some time. But apart from my face still feeling numb from the anaesthetic a day on I am feeling much better! Bit more sleep will work wonders no doubt.
Then I will be getting back to you all.
I thought you might like to see an image of my latest purchase….recently, I have been converting what used to be termed a ‘drawing room’ [which basically meant it contained the telly and a sofa in it!] to a second ‘office’ and reading room for me, as my top attic space in my Victorian house in the summer is becoming like a furnace and far too hot to work in at certain times of the year. This downstairs room is perfect as it is the coolest in the house, and as we don’t use it like we used to, it made much more sense to turn it into something else where it will be used to help me in my endeavours!
So I bought a Mahogany Wood Victorian Desk. I had been looking for some time for the right one, and eventually I found this one - dated 1815 to 1890, when the furniture makers were in business, based in London.
So now it is sitting quite nicely in the bay window, with an early Victorian chair that I already had. I tried other modern chairs but they were the wrong height. This was perfect.
I know a writer used this desk originally, as there are ink stains in the drawers, which I absolutely love, so I feel that the desk has come back to a Victorian home where it hopefully belongs.
Writing and taking photographs is my life, so I am hoping to share more of that journey with you. But now...its time for some more painkillers!
All my love for now, Shelley x

Church of San Michele
San Michele is the church of the Jesuits, present in the city since 1584. Already existing in the 15th century, it was rebuilt in the second half of the 17th century, thanks to the generosity of the Alghero soldier Geroni Ferret.
Today it is the church dedicated to the patron saint of Alghero, San Michele which is celebrated on September 29th. It is visible from afar due to its characteristic polychrome dome, one of the symbols of the city.

I bought myself a Nikon D3300 yesterday - I had been tempted to test it for a long time. Doing some macro in the yard yesterday was so much fun ! And so many more tricks to learn from it. Just look at the EXIF to check on technical data my friends. 😊🍀💕
I love Christmas. It's my favourite time of the year: a season of kindness and generosity, friendship, laughter and love. It is also the time of the year when we get to deck the halls with beautiful decorations.
I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year. Each of these baubles is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in these baubles are 5mm in diameter, but there are others that are slightly bigger like the butterflies which are 8mm and 12mm and some which are smaller, like the small flowers and stars which are 3mm. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble.
These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because they are complex patterns which start from the outside and are worked outwards in ever decreasing circles, each bauble takes approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours per side.
It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 7th of December is "collage in black and white". I usually photograph my hand made Christmas baubles in situ on the tree, which I did do, but this year for something different, I also photographed a selection of them in their tissue wrapping as I boxed them up to send to a dear friend, little knowing that this would be the perfect main image for my collage for the theme for this week! If you follow my photostream, you will know that I do display my baubles in colour, and I will these. However, for this week’s theme, I hope that you like my black and white collage, and that it makes you smile!
The new building of the Court of Law of Amsterdam was opened today and I went to look at the huge statue (5 metres high) in its forecourt. It's a sculpture by Nicole Eisenman (1965-) with the name 'Love or Generosity'. The playful - note his striped pants - giant lad is examining what he's collected in his right - law is right - hand. There's the Owl of wisdom and knowledge, the Arrow of perseverance and focus, and the Acorn of growth and patience.
Curiously, no reference to law's duty to impartially correct injustice and to punish evil... unless I'm missing something.
With last-minute cancellations being something of a problem on Northern's Chester to Leeds route recently, I decided to take the earlier service today to guarantee making a lunch appointment with an old college mate coming down from Scotland.
In truth there was something of an incentive - an earlier arrival also meant I would likely see the 9.53am Hunslet Tilcon - Arcow Quarry (6M31) stone empties rolling through the centre road at Leeds, rather than miss it by a few minutes as has happened on other occasions. Oddly enough however, today, the freight was not its usual 'right-on-schedule' pass-through, but running 35 minutes behind time.
Anyhow, with apparently no other snappers around to witness the event (perhaps the grotty light and rainy conditions put them off), GBRf 'Tug' 60076 is captured here doing the honours and looking quite nicely turned out too. Eventual arrival at the quarry would be 13 minutes ahead of due time, thanks to a very generous schedule that normally sees the train looped at Kirkstall for almost 40 minutes.
Comments switched off for this one, thanks.

Beautiful new books for Christmas, gifts from generous friends.
A late (and very quick) snap for Definitely Dreaming 'something new' theme. 50/52
we experience life...with all the feelings of happiness, sadness, hurts, fears, and angers...but what is important...is that the light of truth always shines in our Heart...that beyond feelings...is that we are a people of love, respect, kindness, generosity, forbearance, forgiveness, and peace...amongst many virtues that we all have...
How generous is this?
I got home from vacation last Monday to find a package from Sandra, aka, Sexy Swedish Babe. Inside was the following message and the brightly colored scarf i'm wearing:
Rita!
Finally--here it is...the scarf that was inspired by all the vibrant colors I've seen in your stream. I know it's summer and really warm, but i do hope you'll get to wear it eventually! Haha!
Love, Sandra
P.S! I thought it might amuse you to know that this yarn (a blue one) was also used in Myla Kent's scarf!!!! (Myla has my same birthday)
Not only is sexy swedish babe the most beautiful woman on flickr, she is also one of the most generous and talented!
Thank you Sandra! I now must think of a way to reciprocate.
Thanks to the generous prizes provided by MPB.com who sponsored Amateur Photographer magazines APOY 2021 competition I've now got a lovely 'new' Nikon Z 7ii camera c/w 14-30 z lens.
The new camera is about 30% smaller & lighter than my Nikon D800 that I'd been using since 2012, however it's a lot more complicated and I think it will take a long time before I get used to all the options in the camera controls. The D800 felt simple by comparison!
We had some mist & fog in Wales at the weekend so I walked up the hill with the new camera and tried taking a few photos.
To my amusement, I was generously granted several dirt showers during that racing event. This one here was one of them. There is no photo available of the passing race car, just guess why!
😄
😄

below from www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/a/albert_camus.html
are a few quotes from Albert Camus, French Philosopher
Date of Birth: November 7, 1913
Date of Death: January 4, 1960
Only a philosophy of eternity, in the world today, could justify non-violence.
Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.
Real nobility is based on scorn, courage, and profound indifference.
Retaliation is related to nature and instinct, not to law. Law, by definition, cannot obey the same rules as nature.
Some people talk in their sleep. Lecturers talk while other people sleep.
Stupidity has a knack of getting its way.

With $10 billion monthly spent on Iraq, how much is left to be generous at home or else where abroad?
What nations have liberality in spirit or act?
What persons have liberality in spirit or act?
When do you show liberality in spirit or act?
Should only rich share in abundance?
Should corporations make embarrassing amounts of profits at destroying Earth's Future?
If Earth goes dead, humanity goes where?
Have a Happy Earth Day's Week, and do something daily to make earth better for all bugs and up all Life's chain to your fellow human beings, who at times can be so mean and deadly. There is more needed than just your prayers. What will you do daily to give today so there is a FUTURE? Can you make that FUTURE better today?

A friend very kind and generous friend bought us National Trust membership for Christmas. We visited 2 places while we were away at Christmas. This is in a ghost tree in the grounds of Croft Castle. This one is the Third Ghost: A veteran sweet chestnut tree, thought to date from 1580-1680 and believed to be linked to the battle with the Spanish Armada in 1588. This particular tree was struck by Lightning in 2012. Star and Flash were bringing a bit of life to it.
This cute freakin' bikini was a really generous gift, and I just wanted to express my gratitude <3

A very generous friend gave my husband and myself a gift voucher for Tetsuya's for Christmas. I made a booking for us for our wedding anniversary that was on the 18th, but last night, the 20th being the closest to date I could get. A lovely evening; great atmosphere, very attentive staff and a wonderful 10 course degustation. I've only posted a few of the dishes.
