(15/1/20)

On Wednesday 19/11/2025, 4122s (extra Qube Balco) is seen halfway between Mallala and Korunye (SA) with G521-gl110 in charge. This was the fourth return “Balco” working since the start of Monday.

The Indian Pacific is at the start of its journey west and led by NR25 & G530 as it moves along through Werrington.

C506, G513, C509 and C510 power towards West Wyalong as 3345 to the GrainFlow facility just out of town.

This train operated as 4343 from Newcastle to West Wyalong, where it was then split into two rakes and loaded at the GrainFlow facility north of West Wyalong. Once the two rakes were loaded, they combined as 3444 back to Newcastle.

Friday 1st June 2018

BL26, 8127 and G540 work 2CM6 through Lavington towards Albury.

This was a grain wagon transfer that originated in Melbourne bringing one 40 block of WGBY wagons to Goulburn for braking system modifications. It then returned the following day with the WGSY rake for use in Victoria.

Interestingly enough, a locomotive representing three states prior to the privatization of the railways made up the consist. BL26 from South Australia, 8127 from New South Wales and G540 from Victoria.

Monday 2nd April 2018

On Tuesday 27/8/2024, 1421s (Qube empty Rasp) is seen passing the SCT Penfield depot (Adelaide) with G521-RL310 in charge, with 5 pink containers trailing.

Filling in on point for G515 due to an ICE radio failure the previous night, veteran streamliner B80 leads 9341 empty Qube Apex Quarry service through Gowanbrae bound for Kilmore East.

In thier altered Aurizon paint schemes touched up from the original Freightliner schemes, G533 and G535 are stabled alongside each other on the Dry Creek repair roads on 22-11-23.

Both of the G class locos are usually used on the MP/PM services mid train between Adelaide and Melbourne

On Saturday 18/1/2025, 4116s (Aurizon shuttle) is seen approaching Gawler road, Virginia (Adelaide) with G535 hauling 6 AWAY well wagons removed from 5DA2 at Two Wells.

On Saturday 21/6/2025, a late 7901V (pacific national “fruity) is seen passing the abandoned silos at Cope Cope (Victoria) with G520-G523-BL31 in charge of a long train.

G520 & 8157 crawling through Manor Junction on 5KC5, loaded grain from Lubeck to Junee. 22/10/20

Having just been given the road, G534 continues to notch up as it heads away from Port Botany with a LINX Cargo Care shuttle to Enfield as T173.

G534 was purchased from Aurizon at the end of February 2018, however all of the logos were removed and has remained “corporateless” since. It is expected to go into the paint shop soon and receive the new LINX livery, as per its twin G516.

The small badge to the left of the spare wheel cover reads 'Mansory for Russia Unique 1/1' It seems the car was imported in to the UK in 2020.

On Saturday 7/12/2024, 4116s (Aurizon loading shuttle) is seen approaching Edinburgh road (Salisbury North, Adelaide) with G533 hauling 2 well wagons for Gillman yard, which 5DA2 had dropped off at Two Wells.

On Saturday 1/11/2025, a late and short 6MP1 (Aurizon intermodal) is seen approaching Hawker street, Ovingham (Adelaide) with acd6051-acd6054-G533 in charge.

G533 was one of a class of 33 JT26C units delivered to the Victorian Railways between 1984-1990 by Clyde Engineering and built at the company's plants at Rosewater (SA) and Somerton (Vic). Seen at Dry Creek (Adelaide) South Australia on 27 November 2021.

Ownership of G533 (and G535) has changed hands several times during its career which included a spell with the shortlived Freightliner Australia operation, hence the livery. Freightliner was swallowed up by Genesee & Wyoming Australia in 2016, with GWA itself changing ownership and being rebranded One Rail Australia (ORA) in 2020.

Now One Rail has been sold, this time to Queensland rail operator Aurizon. The irony is that the two G class owned by One Rail have been very useful engines here in South Australia, but ownership of them still resides with ORA's East Coast Rail, formerly Freightliner Australia business (largely coal haulage) which Aurizon says they will dispose off by the end of 2022. So the Gs could be on the move again, unless someone comes up with an imaginative bit of bookeeping!

On Wednesday 10/10/2018, a very late-running 2DA2 (GWA intermodal) is seen approaching Gawler River road (between Two Wells-Virginia, SA) with G533-gwu009-gwa003 in charge.

G533 had been sent north on 2AD1 only about 36 hours before this shot was taken, 2DA2 had an unknown loco issue.

Thursday 1st October 2015

Fresh out of an overhaul, G515 along with G532 lead an Ultima consist through Little River, via Geelong. 22/12/21

A little over one year ago and not much has changed.

Just on sunrise a northbound Pacific National grain, led by G520 rolls through Road 3 at Albury while the XPT occupies the Platform Road.

Due to travel restrictions, as well as state border closures the XPT has hardly ventured into Victoria in the past 18 months.

Cruising away from Meredith as 9157, G528 solo hauls 8 loaded cement hoppers North to Mildura where they will unload for the final time.

9157 was operated as an 'extra' service to Mildura as 9101/2 had not been operating back as 9102 Sunday Night/Monday Mornings and as 9101 on Monday Nights/Tuesday Morning for the past 3 weeks due to a decrease in loading. The container train had been stabled in Merbein from Saturday morning till Tuesday night.

This was the last cement train to operate from North Geelong to Mildura in physical cement hoppers. The hoppers then returned Thursday Night/Friday Morning to Gheringhap empty. This service will now be carted in containers from Appleton Dock.

The Waurn Ponds - Somerton cement train remains as the last movement of cement hoppers, however this will cease on Wednesday 23rd December 2015.
