CFCLA owned G512 (with G515, out of sight on the other end of the train) shunt the wagons from the P&O Trans Australia -AM2 service from Adelaide.

G523, BL31 and G520 lead 7902V loaded Merbein to Appleton Dock fruit train out of Corio.

On Friday 24/1/2025, 2182s (loaded Aurizon grain ex Tailem Bend) is seen rounding the curve west of Callington (SA) with G533-cm3315-cm3306-cm3305-CLP17-CLP14-cm3310 in charge. The first 2 locos had run light from Dry Creek to meet the train at Monarto South after CLP17 failed.

On Saturday 8/3/2025, a very late 6MX1 (Aurizon intermodal) is seen at Clapham (Adelaide) with G535-G533 in charge. Due to a derailment in Gillman yard 2 days earlier, this train ran to a similar time to 6MX1 a week earlier.

G513 leads 48s33, 48s35, G511 and G514 westwards, following The Darling Causeway with CA03 empties to Clarence Colliery. The two 48's are standing in for the other regular loco, C503.

  

I hung around suspiciously checking this place out before I started sketching.

Stretched out around the Wirrappa curves , G535,G532,G533 freshly painted into SCT colours haul a clean 7GP1 consist from Goobang Junc, (Parkes) to Perth on 30-9-07

Three states represented here, ex Victorian G528, ex NSW Freightcorp 8143 and ex West Australian L270.

They lead a loaded grain train from the western region of NSW into the up refuge at Goulburn to await a path through trackwork ahead.

On Tuesday 7/10/2025, 1421s (Qube Balco) is seen approaching Gawler road, Virginia (SA) stub G521-gl106 in charge.

The first westbound run of QR National's intermodal service from Adelaide to Perth, 4AP1 hauled by locos G534/G516/GM44 near Korunye, South Australia on 14 November 2007.

 

In 2010, QR National was privatised and became Aurizon, who in 2016 withdraw from the interstate intermodal market. Fast forward to 2023 and Aurizon are back in the intermodal game again.

 

The two G class on this train are no longer owned by Aurizon and have had half a dozen owners over the last 25 years. Enough history in this shot for a PhD thesis 😛

G539 and 8160 work 2228N loaded limestone train northbound through Exeter Station, bound for Berrima cement works. Recently Pacific National have transferred a number of G Class to Moss Vale, with the locos used on limestone and cement traffic.

Cruising along through the Mallee scrub between Nowingi and Carwarp, XR555 leads X44 and G527 North bound with 9101 empty Mildura 'Fruity' goods to Merbein (near Mildura)

 

During 2015, the Victorian State Government announced a plan to convert sections of the Yelta line into Standard Gauge along with building brand new lines connection regional areas to ports faster and effective. Trains like 9101/9102 Mildura goods could be a thing of the past come 2016.

On Sunday 27/11/2022, an overpowered 4152s (loaded Aurizon grain ex Bowmans) is seen at Mawson Lakes (Adelaide) with gwb102-G535-CLP8 in charge.

Freightliner G533 and Glencore XRN012 leave the Blue Mountains and power on through Bowenfels. This train, #1881, is composed of empty containers which are bound for Trangie.

 

G533 was originally built for V/Line in the mid-1980's and is now owned by Freightliner.

Ex-CIÉ G Class Deutz loco G617 crosses the Quoile Bridge working the 1415 Downpatrick - Inch Abbey.

 

The consist:

- CIÉ Park Royal no. 1944

- UTA 70 Class Intermediate no. 728

- CIÉ Laminate Brake Generator 2nd no. 3223

G535 with AK81, AK cars from Tarcoola to Darwin stops at 739km between Manguri and Pootnoura to check the recording equipment before once heading off again to Cadney Park to stable for the night .

On Saturday 22/2/2025, 1116s (Pacific National fuel shunt) is seen approaching Francis Street, Port Adelaide (Adelaide) with G538 and 3 tanks. Going by what a crew member said, this will be the last time PN will haul the tanks for the AD1/DA2 services to Islington, with Aurizon to commence the running from Gillman yard behind the above train.

G539, XR559, BL31 and BL26 enter Exeter with 5326 loaded grain from Northern NSW to Cootamundra
