The Jose Rizal-class of multi-role guided missile frigates, currently in service with the Philippine Navy, are a heavily modified variant of the ROK Navy's Incheon-class frigates. The ships, which were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), are specifically accommodated to fit the requirements of the Philippine Navy. The frigates will improve the ability of the Philippine Navy's Offshore Combat Force, which is mostly composed of ships that were retired from other countries and subsequently transferred to the Philippines.

Burford Priory and the Lenthall Chapel
On Saturday Lawrence and I went west from Oxford to the historic Cotswold town of Burford.
One feature of the main house (Priory) are two very finely carved giants possibly representing Hercules and Antaeus. They would have supported the Tanfield arms, now replaced by the Lenthall arms. The hairy giant Anaeus has a hare between his feet, possibly a play on the name Harman.

F836 BCW, the second of 2 Mercedes Benz 811Ds delivered new, to Powercrafts, in May 1989, stands in front of sister vehicle 835 on Blackburn Boulevard that month. Each bus ran its own regular route 836 being the Openshaw Drive Bus, whilst 835 did Guides.
Both these vehicles were delivered in Plain white, and for the first time, instead of employing a signwriter to the task, vinyl ws used for livery and fleetnames. 835 was the first to be treated, and arrived back from Lancaster wrongly attired (the vinyl manufacturer having photographed a 12 seater, instead of the full sized vehicle intended!) this was corrected by the time 836 was done. The livery on 835 was never corrected during her time in the fleet, staying in this livery throughout. Both buses stayed together in later life, operating together for Stevensons, and Arriva, I would love to see pictures of them in this guise if anyone has them!
OK even by Avril's own admission this link is tenuous, but Lenin was known for his beliefs in and adherence to Marxist ideals and this was a way of introducing a notable black Marxist, Claudia Jones.
Claudia Jones was born in Trinidad and emigrated to the United States with her parents, aged 9. She soon became aware of the injustices suffered by poor Americans - especially black Americans - and developed an affinity with Marxism. This brought her into conflict with the American Establishment, and in 1948 she was deported - although she managed to persuade the authorities to send her to the United Kingdom, as she was inspired by the post-war Labour Government and particularly the setting up of the National Health Service (she herself had a chronic medical condition which would require lifelong treatment). She joined the Communist party of Great Britain.
Jones also established a newspaper, the "West Indian World". This reported on global black issues which were mostly ignored by the mainstream media. She also publicised activities in the then-small and dispersed black communities in London and elsewhere. Following the murder of the black carpenter Kelso Cochrane in Notting Hill in 1958 - a crime for which no-one was charged despite several people claiming to know who was responsible - she brought the idea of Trinidadian Carnival to London, hiring a hall in Kings Cross and turning it over to a celebration of black culture and pride. Initially an indoor event, this would grow and eventually become the Notting Hill Carnival when it moved out onto the streets in the 1970s. Sadly Jones did not live to see this, as she succumbed to her illness at the end of 1964.

This shows the 2 part tape guide. The 2 parts are insulated from each other by the plastic washer and nylon screw. The lower part (longer) is in contact with the metal chassis. the top (shorter) part is connected to a solder tag on the wire from the announcement recording PCB. A metal foil on the tape connects the 2 parts and thus earths the wire at the end of the tape.
