Announced by Enzo Ferrari in September 1983, and unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1984, the GTO (also known unofficially with the 288 prefix) sparked off a wave of enthusiasm. The legendary name, the stunning styling by Pininfarina, the engine with its seemingly inexhaustible power (2.8 litres and 8 cylinders) and the widespread use of composite materials, made the GTO the closest thing to a racing car.
To meet customer demand, 272 were built instead of the planned 200 : all were sold before production began.

The 599 GTO is one of the greatest Ferraris in the last few years. Aside from its sharp looks and its amazing sound it also has that certain insanity too it other V12-Ferraris couldn't convey. Even the TdF is "just a very sharp tool", where this Ferrari realy shines with un-Ferrari-like madness. I'm so happry to have spotted this one, never seen to many, unfortunately. The plate is quite fitting, too.
There's a good chance this car isn't owned by a German, maybe by a Dutchman.
Definitely a first for me casting wise and I have to say i'm very impressed considering its a budget Motormax offering. I have absolutely no idea how long they've been making this 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge but it certainly equals anything produced by Hot Wheels. Well cast with tampo detailing on all four sides too.

The Pontiac GTO is an automobile that was built by Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1964 to 1974, and by the GM subsidiary Holden in Australia from 2004 to 2006.
The first generation GTO was a muscle car classic of the 1960s and 1970s era. Although there were earlier muscle cars,[1][2] the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.[3]
From 1964 until midway through 1973, the GTO was related to the mid-sized Pontiac Tempest/LeMans. The 1974 GTO was a one-year only optional package available on the compact-sized two-door Pontiac Ventura.
The GTO model was revived from 2004 to 2006 model years as a captive import for Pontiac, a left-hand drive version of the Holden Monaro, itself a coupé variant of the Holden Commodore. WIKIPEDIA

This one was dark red and it had loads of carbon and black highlights. Sorry about the appalling light!
I was so happy to see this because I thought it was a new GTO. I came a little closer and it was a HGTE :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( There should be a law to stop GTB/HGTE owners putting a black roof on their car.

Pulled into a rest area not expecting to see anything, I see a nice S600 and see something red out of the corner of my eye. I look over and this is there. I was blown away. Unfortunately the owner came out about 20 seconds after I started taking pictures so I didn't get as many as I wanted. The awesome owner even let me sit in it!

The Pontiac GTO was built by Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1964 to 1974. In early 1963, General Motors' management issued an edict banning divisions from involvement in auto racing. At the time, Pontiac's advertising and marketing approach was heavily based on performance, and racing was an important component of that strategy. With GM's ban on factory-sponsored racing, Pontiac's young, visionary management turned its attention to emphasizing street performance.
Pontiac engineers, who included John DeLorean took a larger 389 cu in (6.4 L) Pontiac V8 engine from the full-sized Pontiac Catalina and Bonneville and put it in an upcoming redesigned Tempest. By promoting the big-engine Tempest as a special high-performance model, they could appeal to the speed-minded youth market (which had also been recognized by Ford Motor Company's Lee Iacocca, who was at that time preparing the sporty Ford Mustang variant of the second generation Ford Falcon compact).
The GTO violatied GM's policy limiting the A-body intermediate line to a maximum engine displacement of 330 cu in (5.4 L). Since the GTO was an option package and not standard equipment, Pontiac management considered it to fall into a loophole in the policy. Initial production was limited to 5,000 units as there was concerns, even in Pontiac, that there wouldn't be a market for this car. Their concerns were not needed as the 1964 model had orders of over 10,000 prior to January 1, 1964 and actual number sold for the 1964 GTO package was 32,450 cars. The GTO went on to become one of the most legendary cars of the muscle car era.
