A rare Ferrari 599 GTO (only 599 have been made) shot in less than ideal conditions but when an opportunity like this comes along you have to jump in with both feet.

In 2004, the Pontiac GTO was relaunched in the United States in the form of a rebadged, third-generation Holden Monaro.

The VZ Monaro-based GTO was Pontiac's first captive import since the 1988-1993 Pontiac LeMans. The V2/VZ Monaro was a 2-door coupe variant of the Australian developed VT/VX Holden Commodore. The Commodore had, in turn, been developed by enlarging the European designed 1994 Opel Omega B, which was marketed in its original form in the U.S. from 1997 to 2001 as the Cadillac Catera. The Monaro was also exported to the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Monaro and to the Middle East as the Chevrolet Lumina SS.

The last Pontiac GTO, which was also the very last Monaro-based coupe produced, came off the assembly line in Australia on June 14, 2006. Total production for all three years was 40,808 vehicles.

The Ferrari 250 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata) was designed to compete in Group 3 GT racing. Only 36 GTOs were (hand)built between 1962 and 1964. It has the race-proven 3.0 L "Colombo" V12 (300 PS @ 7500 rpm) engine as used in the 250 Testa Rossa Le Mans winner.

In 2018 it became the most expensive car ever sold at public auction ($48.4 million).

I covered a drift event in Norman, OK and this car made me nervous at this corner on every pass. Thankfully I was able to capture this awesome shot. It was my favorite of the day.

I never expected to see an apparently unrestored GTO convertible just sitting in a lot in Providence. Check out the old-fashioned snow tires on the back!

1984 - 1985

The best looking 599 if you ask me. This and a SA Aperta ware at Munsterhuis Hengelo. Amazing to find this car!

Do view large to check out the cool detailing on the headlights.

I took this photograph in the paddock at Silverstone at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting in July 1997. These four cars, all Ferrari 250 GTOs, took part in the Coys of Kensington Ferrari GT Race. All four cars have the 2,953cc Tipo 168/62 Gioacchino Colombo designed V12 engine, the two cars on the left being 1962 cars, and the two on the right 1963. The first car on the left is that of Paul Pappalardo, chassis 5111GT, and originally supplied to French driver Jean Guichet who used it to win the Tour de France in 1963. The next car is chassis 4713GT, one of Anthony Wang's cars, which was driven in the race by Louis Sellyei and is unusual in that it has a Pinin Farina 330 LM body. It was originally owned by Luigi Chinetti and its first major race was the 1963 Le Mans 24 Hour race where it was driven to sixth place overall by David Piper and Masten Gregory. The third car is another of Anthony Wang's cars, chassis 3769GT, and he drove this one in the race himself. This car's first owner was Fernand Tavano, and he and André Simon gave this car its first major outing in the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hour race but failed to finish. The last car is the 1962 car of Peter Sachs, chassis 4091GT, which started off with the 1962 GTO bodywork but was re-bodied in December 1963 with a 1964 style body. It was first owned by Sergio Bettoja, but does not appear to have taken part in any major events until it was entered in the 1964 Tour de France where it was driven by Ludivico Scarfiotti and Giampiero Biscaldi. It failed to finish the event.

The upholstery shop guys were nice enough to install the rearview mirror when they put in the headliner.

Not a very good shot but the car is cool. Next time I will use my Gorillapod!

Ferrari 288 GTO after the 2009 Concorso Italiano

My friend was lucky enough to get to drive this into the show for the owner, who couln't attend. When the show was over, we had the choice to sit in (uphill) traffic for an hour, or hang out for an hour and then have an open road. So we drove down to the end of the course and decided to do an impromptu photoshoot. Wouldn't you?

One car of a crazy collection. It came in with another 599, an LP550-2 Balboni, and a ton of other stuff. Really an amazing car.

By the way, what do you guys think about this picture? I know its blurry, but I really like this angle of the 599 GTO
