In distant ages past, in another place & time, she was the goddess of time & space Istara.

She, along with her half-sisters Ayla & Eostra, sacrificed themselves to stop the god of death from destroying the universe.

Millennia later, Istara's soul was reborn as Epiphany.

Bless the Child

"I was born amidst the purple waterfalls.

I was weak, yet not unblessed.

Dead to the world. Alive for the journey.

One night I dreamt a white rose withering,

a newborn drowning a lifetime loneliness.

I dreamt all my future. Relived my past.

A witnessed the beauty of the beast"

Where have all the feelings gone?

Why has all the laughter ceased?

Why am I loved only when I'm gone?

Gone back in time to bless the child

Think of me long enough to make a memory

Come bless the child one more time

How can I ever feel again?

Given the chance would I return?

I've never felt so alone in my life

As I drank from a cup which was counting my time

There's a poison drop in this cup of Man

To drink it is to follow the left hand path

"Where have all the feelings gone?

Why is the deadliest sin - to love as I loved you?

Now unblessed, homesick in time,

soon to be freed from care, from human pain.

My tale is the most bitter truth:

Time pays us but with earth & dust, and a dark, silent grave.

Remember, my child: Without innocence the cross is only iron,

hope is only an illusion & Ocean Soul's nothing but a name...

The Child bless thee & keep thee forever"

...of butterflies, and best viewed large.

Good morning. Seems like it's been a week or so since I posted any butterfly photos so I thought I would post a few pics of what I consider as the Golden Goddess of butterflies, being the Variegated Fritillary (Euptoieta claudia). This is only the second set I posted from last season of the Variegated Fritillary as it is not all that common in the local area so it's a real treat to spot one when literally afield in search of butterflies in the wild.

Thank you for visiting....and I hope you have a truly great day.

1/52 - Beginnings.

This marks Week 1 of a 52 Week Challenge where we create a new piece of art every week for a year. I partnered with Sony Alpha Female to bring it to us for free. I'm releasing weekly themes, a monthly exclusive video, and sharing feedback with community members who participate.

Your natural reaction might be: I can't commit for a whole year. I can already think of weeks I won't be able to do this.

Or, you might think: I can't compete with others doing the same challenge.

Or even: If I can't do this perfectly, I'd rather not do it.

I'm just here to say: Those are the excuses that hold us back from doing anything at all. When we get to the ends of our lives, we'll either look back at the art we made with pride, or look back at the art we didn't make with regret.

I refuse to live in regret.

Cassette Tapes - This brings back many fond memories. Way back then, my friends and I would request our favorite songs on the radio and wait for it to be played on air so that we can record them. That became our playlist and anthem. Cassette tapes were quite expensive for students like us, so we have to save up for them or otherwise borrow from each other. Now things are a lot easier, but our music lives on :)

A two-sided modern sculpture 'Garden God' (known locally as the Moon Goddess) by Peter Inchbald. The grounds of St Andrew's Church in Pershore, Worcestershire.

EXPLORED 1st September 2013

Two views of the painted terracotta head of a goddess, usually identified as Thesan/Leucothea,* but Nancy de Grummond has suggested it represents Catha, a lunar deity.** From Temple A at Pyrgi, c. 340-330 BC.

Photographed in the Villa Giulia (Rome) in 1998 with a Ricoh R1. Scanned from the prints and edited with Photoscape.
