Some classic Cobras out in the snow.
This is a leftover from last winter. Before you know it we'll be shoveling again.
A shot from last winter that has a couple of customs.
The arctic Dial-Tone is a head swap with Blizzard. The BAT is a custom painted US Army BAT.
A custom woodland version of Low-Light using the legs from Footloose and arms from Leatherneck. I painted the cap to match.
Also a fine example of the usefulness of AP weapons.
After World War III, the remnants of GI Joe encounter machines in the ruins. No one is sure where they're coming from, or what they're doing.
The Reaction Terminator figure seemed like a great fit for my post apocalypse pics, it's just too bad it doesn't have more articulation. It does bring a good vibe though.
Busted out my old Tiger Force Tiger Shark, as you can see its not complete and a little beat up, but it actually floated, which was cool.
Hawk (my favorite Joe) gets an update from Breaker (another of my favorites). You've got to love the stickers in the GI Joe HQ playset. I did some simple exposure adjustments to give them some glow.
Shockwave leads the local SWAT team in a raid on a suspected Headhunters den.
I found these Maisto SWAT jeeps at Costco during the holidays. $14 for a diecast vehicle with opening doors & tailgate and pivoting rubber wheels! I only saw a couple, though. The Police Challenger in the back was more prolific, as well as a Mustang, I think. I used a laser on the lights; they're not electronic. And that Lowlight head doesn't fit the Sure Fire body very well, but add some plastic from a Hot Wheels pack and his helmet is a perfect SWAT issue.
A kitbash version of Grunt. One of the guys on IG was trying out some LBC Grunt figures, so I spotted these parts and figured I'd give it a try too.
The five o' clock shadow was added on a previous custom.
For this custom, I wanted a version of Snow Job in something other than pure white. The head is actually from Spearhead, with putty added as hair and a beard.
Hasbro’s Gi Joe Retaliation Ultimate Stormshadow Figure - appropriately named. If you own one Modern Joe in your collection, this should be it.
G.I.JOE: Resolute Revisited
One of the best franchise re-incarnations to date. Resolute showed a more matured and realistic take on the G.I.JOE story. Here's my photo shoot featuring the heroes, Duke, Flint, Beachhead and of course, Snake Eyes.

Facebok Page.
Joes talking about missiles.
The custom Backblast is just a head swap with Fastdraw, I thought the colors blended nicely and that it suits the character.
Bazooka uses the torso of Tele-Viper and legs from Lightfoot (but you can't see them here).
Zap is a custom that combines Sonic Fighters Zap with Mutt.
Kitbash customs encounter a Hong Kong plastic dinosaur as part of my "Lost World" setting.
I really enjoy the look of the old toy dinosaurs, despite the lack of realism.
I never really knew of Rampart when he came out. I was taking a break from Joe...But finding him the other day, I snatched him right up. Good colors, and a killer sculpt.
The Field Howitzer when I had it outside for a shoot a few months ago. I combined it with some other pieces.
The Havoc is a weird vehicle but I loved it as a kid. Sadly, I no longer have my childhood Havoc, but I found this Sky Patrol version a while back at a great price. A lot of fans seem to hate the chrome, but I actually like this color scheme as I think it's perfect for my post apocalypse setting.
My childhood Crimson Twins are on the hunt for Joes. There's a couple of customs in the background, my '83 Motor Viper (Motor Trooper?) and a Trail Viper using the body of Sonic Fighters Dial-Tone.
I had a couple of Mercer torsos laying around for over a year, so I finally used them for these custom versions of Recoil and Blizzard. The orange turned out to be a good match for that generic raft, which seems to fit a kind of rescue theme, and I was able to add water with an app. All in all, this turned out to be a very fun use of extra parts.
Alright, now we return to G.I.Joe.
I've had Jinx for quite some time, but hadn't done a pic of her before. Have to say she actually is a well designed figure. Not the most useful depending on how you look at it, but still well made.
I thought the wolf figures from Game of Thrones might make a nice match with Gnawgahyde, due to his huntsman background. And they look great in snow.
The other figure in the back is a custom 'Nok I call Manhunt, which uses the head of Metal Head and torso of Taurus with the legs of Skidmark. He's also got an outdoors kind of look, and the yellow makes the two figures a pretty good match.
Outback re-imagined as a 1983 figure. I'm not quite sure what made me think of this, but I'm pretty happy with the end result as he fits in nicely with my display of 1983 Joes.
The torso is from a Black Major arctic Steel Brigade, the arms and weapon are from the original 1987 Outback, and the legs are Duke legs painted to match the Outback color scheme (including the brown knife on his left boot).
The head is from Rock and Roll with the beard painted orange and a headband and additional hair sculpted from putty. I didn't feel the figure would be reminiscent of Outback without them.
A couple of Lost World customs.
On the left is Mercer using the torso of Muskrat and legs from Snake Eyes, and sporting a katana because inappropriate martial arts accessories seem to be a part of this setting. His head band was sculpted from putty.
On the right is Hot Seat, but I replaced the neon legs with legs from Outback and added a cap.
Big Boa: Having trouble , trooper?
Cobra Trooper: SIR, NO SIR!
Big Boa: Glad to hear it! Then You won't mind giving me ANOTHER 50, on the double, mister!
A custom figure meant for my "GI Joe in the Lost World" idea.
The parts come from Snake Eyes, Mainframe, and Tiger Force Recondo.
Probably my favorite Cobra troop builder, the 1989 Python Patrol Troopers make great jungle troops.
That's the Ewok Village in the background playing the part of a secret Cobra camp.
The Heavily-armed Infantry Support/ Scout forms the backbone of the Cobra armored squadrons.
I hope to expand my G.I.Joe and Cobra universe, rendered in Lego over time. Here's my personal take on the classic Hiss tank design.
I ended up with a tank that is somewhere in between the classic HISS and the larger HISS II. I knew I wanted better protection for the gunner on top, and I wanted a better roadwheel system than the original HISS has. Aside from that, I tried to keep as true to the original shape as I could. I wanted to add a machine gun somewhere but couldn't find a solution I liked enough.
More pics to come!
I'm using this loose Crimson Guard Immortal as a Crimson Guard Officer, which I think actually suits the mold better than the file card's presentation of an MG-wielding super soldier. Interestingly, the Crimson Guard Commander figure seems better for that idea.
Post apocalypse Snake Eyes custom using the torso of Pathfinder.
For a long time, settlers in the wasteland told stories about the Silent Stranger. He came from the desert and cut a path through the bandits, vanishing again like a shadow and resurfacing wherever evil and cruelty terrorized the survivors of the nuclear war.
When word spread that Hawk's reformed GI Joe team established a new outpost, the Silent Stranger answered the call and Snake Eyes was reunited with his teammates.
A custom version of Low-Light using an '89 Rock and Roll torso. This figure is technically intended for my Lost World setting, which is why he has the .50 cal sniper rifle (dino stopping power), but this can also be a good alternate jungle version of the character.
I suppose it also counts as a replacement for the Dino Hunters Low-Light, which I don't like too much.
Custom Billy using a head sculpted by Brian Holst (I'm pretty sure it was him).
This was a deceptively difficult custom for various reasons, not the least of which was that the arms needed to be sanded down to fit in the torso.
Gristle gives some headhunters their marching orders. A shipment is coming tonight and there can be no mistakes.
It's been way to long since I've done a pic with these guys.
AutoBAT custom using the head from the '86 BAT, torso from Night Creeper, and arms and legs from Sonic Fighters Zap.
The concept here is that the Joes create new androids based on their alliance with the Autobots.
Unfortunately we recently lost Dick Gautier, the voice of Serpentor. I took this aerial shot of my childhood figure in his honor.
An Indiana Jones-inspired custom Recondo. The legs are from Freefall and arms are from Tunnel Rat.
This custom aims to combine the feeling of the '70s Adventure Team Joes with the '80s military-themed ARAH soldiers.
A little while back I posted a pic of Gnawgahyde in the snow. Some of my Instagram followers suggested giving him a winter look, so I opted for a jacket provided by Tiger Force Frostbite.
This shot was a horrible pain due to icy and windy conditions. Getting that horse to stand up was intense. I'm not 100% happy with it, but I hope it captures the vibe I was going for.
A little setup showing Cobra's forest activity. Perhaps there's a vast network of tunnels, for some sinister purpose.
I got sick of using the same troop builders, so I cracked out my Crimson Vipers and also some female troopers by Black Major.
A few of my own customs are in there too.
Outback is definitely a favorite figure of mine. I've seen collectors complain about the white shirt, but I think the very basic look of it suits this Chuck Norris- inspired character.
The camo trooper is a Black Major custom.
General Hawk can't help but stare. The new Battle Force Aegis Heavy Power Armor strikes a formidable profile. Dodger chuckles from behind the wheel. "That's how I first felt," he says to Hawk. "You get used to it."
An evening shot, I finally got to use the little spotlights I bought about 4 years ago. As an experimental weapons group, I feel like Battle Force 2000 never got the respect they deserved, probably since most of their vehicles were garbage, but their concept is sound. Sadly, they got killed off too early in the comics. This ain't the comics.
